I like inlines too. They are more weedless. My main gripe against them is you have to retrieve them faster to get them to stay on the surface. So they aren't in my top five, but I do use them, especially in the middle of the summer around heavy weeds. That's why I love the cavitrons and accent high riders so much, they come to the surface and STAY THERE with a slow retrieve.

Cavitrons do rock. Slow retrieve, and great squeeking and gurgling action. Have caught more largemouth, smallmouth, pike, and even trout on it than I can count. Might be the deadliest pike lure around.

I don't go over 14 pound test with mono on anything except catfishing gear. If I need heavier line for heavier cover (even big bass are easy to land on light line if they are away from cover) I will go with power pro braid of at least 20 pound test.

I have a $68 dollar quantam baitcast reel paired with a $60 Medium Abu Garcia casting rod. For spinning, I have a $55 dollar sahara spinning reel paired with a $79 BPS spinning rod. I am going to buy a US Spinning Reel that goes for $120 this year, so this ranking will change soon.

Vanish stinks. Has no abrasion resistance, terrible knot strenght, and gets brittle quickly. If you want to use an all fluoro line. I recommend P - Line. Their lines rock.

Nice job Paul. Sometimes aggressive tactics work when subtle doesn't, even for turned off fish.

Cavitrons are the best buzzbaits out there bar perhaps the accent high rider.

I just think the average smallie gets landed first. Smallies are just usually more aggressive.

Rapala Skitterpop seems to be the best topwater lure for me, and definately the best popper by far. Has such a great blipping and blooping action, plus it walks the dog great. Don't forget a couple Cavitron buzzbaits though. Best buzzer around.

I prefer mono in 6 - 10 pound test for 3 and 4" senkos. I like 12 - 14 on the 5 inchers though.

As for line, straight mono all the way, as light as 6 pound test for little poppers where cover is sparse, all the way up to 14 pound mono for bigger lures where there are weeds.

I use a medium, 6'6" spinning rod that is made of a fiberglass, graphite mix. In other words, the same rod I toss cranks with is my topwater rod too.

How does the memory and strength compare to, say, Stren Original?

If the weeds are more than a couple feet below the surface, burning a trap over them can draw them out for an arm jolting strike.

Senko, but MAYBE a super fluke. Tough choice, could flip a coin and go with either one. Only thing is both suck in heavily stained or murky water, but most of my lakes are clear.

This is a good approach. I don't mind having to have my boat certified. Sensible approach to a problem we still don't fully understand.

I like 15 pound power pro with a 12 pound fluoro leader for 4 - 6" long jerkbaits. If I'm using smaller ones, I usually use 6 - 8 pound Stren Original.

I use the full size in murkier water or when I'm after bigger bass. Still have had plenty of 13 - 14" bass wolf down the full sized one though.

Bass Pro Shops XPS Rattle Shad. Cordell Super Spot is a close second.
