  1. I tend to research baits alot for better fishing success. Saw the Lucky craft lv rto on tackle tour and had good reviews . So I picked a couple different colors in the 150 size and have done fairly well on less than favorable weather conditions. It has a nice thumping feel and a cool wiggling action on the fall . Well today paid off and caught a nice fish by ripping it out of grass patches starting to pop up. Sorry for the picture sideways . On a cool side note . A random guy driving by pulled over and offered to take my picture. Said he was a fisherman and thought helping me out wit the picture was the right thing to do . Thought it was a super cool for someone to do .
  2. I personally use a plano guide series 3700 tackle bag . I do not use 3700 containers as I have found I scan pack up much more tackle using the 3600 series boxes , I can store 11 boxes inside with 1 full size 3700 on the back or you can use 2 3600 boxes in the back and one large 3700 terminal tackle storage up top. I can store much more tackle than I did before when I used a full size 3700s . However I have my boxes dialed in per what item I am looking for . You can store a ton of tackle but if its a mess its more time haggling with your stuff instead of fishing. I also use the soft plastic bags instead of using plano boxes , much more efficient .
  3. Depends , I have braid , fluorocarbon , monofilament , co polymer for diff rod setups . All have their benefits and weaknesses , just depends on which situation it best serves at that time .
  4. Picasso shakedown , also like the jewel bait Jeff Kriet squirrel head shakey head jig .
  5. You should be fine for the rod is well within those weight ratings. I use my champion 734 heavy for jigs and medium to large Texas rigs and have no problem besides its good to have a little bit of extra power if need be .
  6. I have grown quite fond of the sunline sx1
  7. Welcome from dallas , ga
  8. The only think I could think of with this remark is rock lobster from family guy .... who knew ?
  9. Evergreen , jackall , ima " japan select " series , duo realis, all awsome choices.
  10. Well my my work life has been hectic to say the least . Recently switched ownership and the transition has been hair pulling . Luckily I still had my vacation time , so we went to Myrtle beach instead of our usual trip to Florida . I caught several small fish . One was about the same size as a finesse worm . Before I could say dont post that , there it was on facebook , with comments from my fishing buddies . Dude my baits are bigger than that , but my wife said it was cute . Long story short hope i redeemed my self , early fish in the rain without my rain suit . Picture is a little odd I had to block the rain to get a pic sorry .
  11. I have had to fish under similar conditions . My advice if you can see them they can see you , wear dark green or camo . Second light finesse tactics , drop shot shakey head etc . Lately weightless texas rigged zoom trick worms worked like a fluke or jerkbait have been working . Third sometimes dropping down on line size can be the ticket , I have had to to 6lb to get bit . Last but not least distance try to be very accurate and long casts sometimes well passed your target as to not spook the fish . Hope this helps in some way , good luck.
  12. I personally use jerkbaits all year long unless the water is solid , then I have to re group .
  13. Could you be a little more specific ? There is several viable fisheries around your area .
  14. If there was musky your best bet would be carters I guess .There are a few walleye in carters , along with small mouth but are a rare sight . Musky I don't think so , but they are definitely not stocked .
  15. The dobyns champion crank bait rod in question has excellent reviews on here and other sites . http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdobyns704cbglass.html
  16. I have all three rods , for whats its worth I would say the 703 for smaller Texas rigs , lighter spinners , lighter spinner baits and is best option for top water especially for more precise spots . The 733 is probably the best over all rod for all applications if you simply wanted one multi purpose rod. IT could be used for lighter & heavier Texas rigs and lighter & heavier chatter baits , spinner baits and larger top water baits . The 734 will work but to me feels a little cumbersome for top water , but as far as heavier jigs , spinner baits , Texas rigs this is the rod you need to consider , if you need some backbone to winch out or pull out of cover there is no better option .
  17. This is my shakey head setup so small lb test is a must . The uni knot is being tied properly so I am not worried in regards to that its just that it is hanging up on the guides as its coming off the spool . My curiosity is that its not every time just every now and then but in time it creates a head ache when I am having to peel off line by the yard to clear a massive knot in the line . At this point I think my next bet is to simply re spool and try the fg knot .
  18. The knots are properly cinched and tight . I would say low profile but I am scratching my head. The guides are not micro but they are smaller.
  19. I am using a dobyns 703sf in the champion line as well as a diawa ballistic ex . I am using 10 lb suffix 832 braid with seagur 10 lb red labe flurocarbon leader , but the knots from time to time are banging against the rod guides causing knots and lost distance. I am using an albright knot which is a good knot but its hit or miss on making contact . I watched a video reffering to the fg knot . Still learning this one . My question is should I drop lb test or keep switching braids . So far I have tried power pro super slick , suffix 832 . I have sunline sx1 on my 734c champion and love it . This is getting expensive spending $ 20 at a time jumping around . Once this is figured out wouldn't mind trying some sinking braid.
  20. I have caught a clam on a carolina rig , he got the weight . As for a senko , a turtle.
  21. No love for Tubes ?
  22. Pick and choose your battles , I have had mechanics right up fewl filters .
  23. Practice , practice , practice , the more time you have on the water the better you will become . Tubes , senkos , trick worms , flukes are the preferred choice as they are easy to skip and the most efficient at getting the job done . However craws , lizards , creature baits can also work but not as easily as added friction with the appendages . You can also split the skirt on a jig and push it off to the side and up top which will allow the bottom of the jig to have a smooth under body with a zoom speed craw or rage craw trailer . However I believe there is a video on you tube of Brandon Palunik talking about or using a zoom horny toad on a buzzbait and skipping under docks . But with enough force you can skip anything . Rod choices will also come into play I prefer a 6'6 - 6'8 inch medium fast action because I am short but Longer rods can also work just you have to adjust your angle of plane .
