Do You Need To Go To Collage?
I recently read...maybe here....that if you think education is expensive, try ignorance....or maybe they said "life is hard if you go to collage....but its a lot harder if you papier-mâché"

Area 10 Salmon Wa Closed
Source? I thought the season was closed due to habitat, numbers, ect. Nothing I'd seen suggested the Native Americans were forcing closure so they could fish it alone. If you haven't already, I suggest reading up a bit on the history of why WA fishing rules are negotiated the way they are. Many tribes ceded thousands (millions?) of acres under agreements that allow them a continuing right to the fisheries. You may already be aware, but I know that when I lived there, many people had no clue about how we got where we are today.

Red Spinnerbaits
Sorry to be a smart-ass.....there's a lot of threads on colors and some of them are interesting, even....but there is nothing definitive, whatsoever as to what bass see, not to mention what colors they might want to eat at different times.... If you're intent on matching the hatch, I suppose you might want to try red cranks after the crawfish molt....spring by you, maybe? But, I can't think of anything that a spinnerbait is trying to mimic other than a fish or school of fish.....and I've not seen any red fish in my local waters.....but the red spinnerbait catches bass.... so what season would you choose NOT to throw your red crank baits?

Lookin For Tips
Yes. But, your best investment was the one that cost you nothing and got you here on BR.

Red Spinnerbaits
When fishing. Sorry....But, seriously. Throw it out there. If you think they want a spinnerbait and they don't bite it, try a different color. If they still don't bite, throw something else. I've caught bass on spinnerbaits that are largely red, but I've never once thought about restricting their use to a specific season.

The Times They Are A Changin'
plus ça change.... The Heinz yellow mustard and Jimmy Dean commercials are pretty old school with the people wearing food costumes; Frosted Flakes with Tony playing football with the family...any laundry detergent....Peanuts knock-off kids for more detergent or something similar....commercial for something the other day reminded me of the Hamms bear...what's old is new again. As to OP's point about length, there was a piece on NPR a few weeks ago that I found fascinating: http://www.npr.org/2015/02/24/388796076/amid-declining-ratings-cable-networks-speed-up-reruns-to-make-room-for-ads

Has Anyone Used Powell Rods???
Two weeks ago I broke the tip on a Diesel spinning rod that I bought last summer and only used lightly. I admit that I was more than partly at fault by stressing it more than I should have on a snag.....however, I have treated other rods far worse in the past without breaking them.

A Thought To Make Or Break Your Day
Once you wrote that paragraph, I imagine you realized you didn't need the rest, but you'd already typed a bunch, so...why not? Cost per fish calculations might be instinctive to a metrics guy, but honestly, the value of bass fishing goes so far WAY beyond number of fish, that the dollar per fish math is irrelevant......now, maybe if you're a tourny angler and only in it for the money, you might want to figure pound per dollar, but even that is a bit silly since except for maybe a couple dozen top guys, no sane angler is in it for the money.

Are These Worth Anything?
A quick stroll through google-land suggests that in the package, some Beno's might be worth a bit. Out of the package, they aren't all too rare

Pre-Made Hair Jig 'skirts'?
Anyone ever seen 'hair-skirts'? I worked at tying this past winter and it turns out that I suck. Not only do I suck, but I didn't enjoy it, either. But I do like making rubber skirts and wire-tying jigs. What I'd like to find is either pre-made hair skirts...or some hair-like skirt material that I don't have to tie --- can use bands or wire-tie. Sound like anything you've come across before?

Favorite Siebert Jig Colors?
I don't think he's got any 'bad' colors. Browns, Greens, Black/Blues are always good. I suggest trying the Tackle the Storm varietals - if they don't work then, you have someone here to blame. JK! The mods and big players here wouldn't have their names on them if they weren't good.

Ponds Over Growing Weeds In Spring? Help?
I go to different water. Actually, it depends on how bad it is. I've got a couple favorite lakes/ponds that get so bad you can't move a boat from the pier at peak. I just go elsewhere for six or eight weeks. But in the weeks leading up to peak, when you can still maneuver somewhat, I punch some....I find gaps....I twitch flukes and trick worms across, over and through

Flukes
Best for me is mojo t-rig - very light (1/16-1/8); cast it to cover or over points, let it drop (maybe a foot, maybe to bottom....) and then twitch it back to the boat. Easy to fish and very effective. When I first picked up a bag of flukes many years ago I struggled with trying to rig them perfectly straight and make them swim in a straight line, upright. I was frustrated and put them a way for years. Once I learned that they aren't magic until they rock and twitch and sink that I learned to love them.

Fish-Catching Method For My Girlfriend
1. Cut-R worms rage-rigged, tex-posed...practically fool proof -- she can cast it out and either let it drop or swim it back or dead stick it or....rarely hangs up and WILL get bites 2. Spinnerbaits are good. But, teach her how to work them into cover. Great cover learning bait - comes through most stuff pretty clean, but can learn to bump stuff, drag bottom, kill it...etc. 3. Squarebills and floating lipless are GREAT starter crankbaits - won't go too deep and will come off inadvertent grass/wood hits pretty well

Cheap Sunglass Wearers Unit! I Need A New Pair :)
4 years ago I paid $40 for a pair from a vendor in a tent outside the BX on an Army post. Best sunglasses I've ever owned - totally unbreakable and totally scratch resistant. Lifetime warranty ($10 shipping.) Last fall, the tent was there and I asked about the wear on the rubber on the side...not bad, but a little worn. I handed them $10 and got a brand new identical pair. Sunglass Discounters. Google 'em and they look like a 'shady' outfit.... Doesn't appear to have an online presence, but if you come across their tent outside a BX or mall or something, I highly recommend them.

I Want To Try To Get Into Golf..
BTW, C&G, good luck with that approach. You, yourself, confessed to a bit of OCD. If you take it up....and like it....you may well end up dedicating your life to it. Golf can grab you by the nads just as bad as bass fishing can.
