The speed doesn't bother me too much. Aggressive lane changes, cutting off, and phones are worse, as far as I'm concerned. In fact a car doing the speed limit in the middle lane (of 3 or 4) is as dangerous and more disruptive to traffic as speeders in the left lane.

I tried Gammy circles and I couldn't hook a fish....at all. Not sure why. When I switched to Owner Cutting Point SSW, I started to enjoy dropshotting again. I read SSW were designed for live bait, but I love them with small plastics. Hook up rate is awesome, but a huge added benefit is that with the point turned in just a few degrees, they fish extremely well in brush.

I always take 8 rods in my kayak....well...because I can. Only needed one this weekend. It was a spinnerbait fest. Two of the bigger ones here....dozens of others, nearly half over 3 lb.

I have pretty much given up on the smallest poppers. I have caught 10x bluegills to bass....and probably 2:1 turtles and snakeheads to bass. All fun enough, but not what I'm after.

Years ago, while stationed in Japan, I took wife and kids to local 'horse meat festival' every year. After parade and games, they brough thinly sliced raw horse meat around....and we grilled fast over hot coals in dugout logs.....amazing....overcook it and it gets a little tough, however. Flavor is on par with good beef cuts.

Usually for touching carpet, right? I think touching anything in the boat is a penalty. You end up seeing a lot of silly flipping where the guy figures he can catch the fish or the line before the fish hits the deck. I have rarely seen competitors angry about the penalty, though. Sometimes it almost seems like they welcome the 2 minutes to take a breath and collect their thoughts.

Reasonable to assume it isn't good. Would like to hear from a fish biologist what their recommended thresholds are, by weight, for this and even for vertical. --- I assume that lipping a six pound fish probably isn't great for the fish, either, but i have no expertise or data. I always thought two-hand horizontal holds of larger fish make better pictures anyway.

I wasn't challenging anything you said about casting....or trebuchets....my (too subtle?) point was that I don't find anything about ballistics, mechanics or any other physics to be 'simple'... in fact, it was Statics that began my precipitous drop through and out of engineering

Not unusual to catch a blue, a channel and a flathead in one day of bass fishing around here. There's times that I quit throwing a chatterbait because I can't keep the blues off of it. I have caught flathead on jigs, worms, cranks, spinnerbaits, craws...pretty much anything you hope a bass will eat.

You are probably correct. But it seems like a big oversight to me. My mom and I reel with right hand and my sisters and father reeled with left hand....my wife reels with her left hand....I've been switching handles in boats ever since I found 'convertible' models.

I don't think this gets talked about enough. It has taken me years to get comfortable with this ... and I still mess up a lot of the time. Sometimes too much tension really isn't very much... a lot of fish will reject very quickly if they feel even slight resistance....on the other hand, bite detection on total slack line isn't very reliable.
