  1. I mix my alcohol to taste ;D You can use as little or as much as you want. I just kind of wing it. Add a couple drops then stir and add more 1 drop at a time till you get a consistency you like. I'm struggling to find an analogy for the consistency that I like, but "egg nog" is pretty close. It does prolong the curing of the epoxy and make it obviously more prone to runs. On my big baits I typically do 2 unthinned coats but on this one I decided to thin a bit.
  2. lookin pretty sharp gman!
  3. Well I got an Iwata HPC Plus for christmas and have been playing with it a bit. I have painted 5 or 6 six of the big baits that I build, but this Bagley B3 was in pretty bad shape so I thought i would freshen it up a bit. I could have done alot more surface prep, and it definitely shows, but it came out alright. At least I think so Quick coat of epoxy thinned with denatured alchohol and that is where its at right now. When it cures, I will clean up the hangers and stuff.
  4. its calmed down here for awhile. gonna get some more action late tonight. we had 5.79 inches up here today. 3 of that was in an hour and a half!
  5. As far as I know, you can't yet. I'm sure Matt will have them out sooner or later though. They are cool little baits.
  6. No, the Greek god Zeus is a myth. Big baits, big fish is a fact. I'll take the combined weight of my best 20 big bait fish against the best 20 fish you have on tiny baits anyday!
  7. HEY! Whats up buddy?! When we goin fishin?
  8. I know what you mean 5bl! Our 2006-2007 rainy season, was horrible. Some of our reservoirs out here are over 100 feet low Almost all of the launch ramps at reservoirs are out of the water. For instance Folsom Reservoir which is about 5 miles from me is a 12,000 acre lake with at least 7 ramps and the last one is within 5 feet of being closed. Lake is down at least 80 vertical feet, maybe more, and I know that surface area has to be around half of full pool! It has had a 5mph limit in place since late summer because of all the unmarked hazards. Almost every reservoir out here is in the same boat. Its pretty horrible. One lake that I have been to raises its own strain of trout on site and is privately owned, but open to the public (for a fee). Half of their hatchery got shut down in late september due to water shortages, their only ramp is high and dry, and if we don't get enough water this winter with a large enough snow pack, they may have to shut down indefinitely. Even Clear Lake, a very shallow natural lake is down 5 feet, which when you take into account the fact that the average depth is less than 20feet, is alot! The water situation is pretty ugly throughout the country. What is it like close to you? Ugh, now the power is flickering. When the power goes out up here, it usually stays off for quite awhile. might be reading a book here pretty soon
  9. I lived at 8000 feet in Colorado for 18 years and Wyoming for a year too. I know all about extreme winter weather. The trees up here are not used to wind, i have 5 inch limbs down all over the property. Flood Advisory in effect High Wind Warning in effect 3.89 inches of rain so far today. Gusts to 50MPH. Its still 51 degrees though ;D. I love the rain, hate the wind and snow though.
  10. medium heavy swimbait rod or a very heavy flippin stick
  11. 2.3 inches of rain in the last 3 hours. Gusts to 48 MPH. barometer at 29.45 and plummeting. It was at 30.15 last night. GOD I WISH I WAS FISHING TODAY. somebody around here is gonna catch a giant today, mark my words! its a real wet rain too
  12. that was thanks to your fellow RI pygmy. regular old laugh riot that guy :
  13. what can i say, fishing has been horrible and I haven't had work for awhile. im starting to get a bit testy ;D

  17. I gotta say it. Am I the only one that thinks that this joke has run its course?
  18. Soccer is like watching a physical version of the classic childhhod argument: Can too...can not....can too.....can not.....can too.....can not.
  19. Are any of you familiar with the Sierra Club? They are based here in California, but their propaganda is far reaching. Now don't get me wrong, I am a major fan of conservation and environmental management, but these tree huggers are the worst kind. Well connected, wealthy, environazis. Now today in the junk mail I received the usual credit offers and such and much to my chagrin, within the pile was a letter from the Sierra Club! Hooray! Inside was of course membership and donation crap and a cute little hiker decal for my hybrid car that I put my kayak on : I found the pre paid return envelope within and on the front of it it says that if you can put your own stamp on it, it will save them much needed funds. Ahh how thrifty I found my notebook and wrote the following (minus the BR censorship ) GO FLIP YOURSELVES yes, i drew them a cute little smiley too. I will send it out in the morning. If nothing else, i just cost them 39 cents and got myself a laugh. On a side note, you should have seen all the crap they put in there. Must not be THAT into saving trees, huh?

  21. i'm not really a fan of sports, or soccer. ;D
  22. I used to love hunting, but I have tapered off. I figured out why I like bass fishing soo much and dont want to hunt anymore. I HATE CLEANING GAME, LOL! Hunting is alot of fun and can be very rewarding. As long as you employ some common sense ethics, you will probably enjoy it!
