  1. I spent 18 years going to the sand dunes and the sangres. my mom is a wildlife artist. here are some mule deer with the sand dunes in the background and here are some pronghorn set on the eastern side of the sangre de christos sorry for the hijack ronnie....man I miss home sometimes!
  2. I lived in the San Luis Valley (Alamosa) until I was 18. I call the valley itself "little Iraq" , but if you drive 30 minutes in any direction, you are in some incredible beautiful country.
  3. i love braid and I use it with a leader on all of my rods except my swimbait rods. RW, I would be WAY more worried about about losing expensive baits if i was using braid than if I was using my 25lb test PLine. the low abrasion resistance is a big concern with baits like the hudd in the rocks. plus if you make an error and your reel backlashes while casting that 6 ounce bait, you can kiss it goodbye. at least with stretchafilament you have a chance
  4. Man, that sucks that all your Storms were broken off by monster bass. You should buy some more. What? That was the reason you have zero, right? BUSTED!!!! I didn't think anyone would figure it out! LOL
  5. number of swimbaits I own: 100+ number of storms: 0 there is a reason for that
  6. staysee hands down. followed by the pointer 100.
  7. Avid, avid, avid.... What can I say, i just gotta photoshop them 5 pounders!!!! I'll tell you though, sometimes its a little difficult to focus on fishing..... I had an absolute blast that trip. I went on a marathon pike fishing mission this weekend. fished both days, caught one 15 incher > > LOL! I did lose a pretty good one on a 3:16 Mission Fish though!
  8. I'll split the benefits if you split the nagging LOL
  9. My girlfriend and I both had the day off which is rare, so we decided to hit the lake. I was gonna go to one place, but I heard that the bite had fallen off, so I opted to go somewhere else. Good decision. Just normal fished all day. The girl dropshotted, dartheaded, and cranked, and I chucked a jig all day. I had about 20 fish including 4 3+ers a 4lb 5 oz and a 5lb 110z. Ended the day early with 20-15 for my best 5. 5lb 11oz jig fish 12noon , 80+ degree water, bluebird skies, 100 degree air temps. Word. The girl caught a few, but had a good time and she chucked my Powell 734c / Metanium XT combo for most of the day, how cool is that?!?! Also had a 3 something that had a jacked up eye. But it wasn't glazed over like the blind ones you commonly see, it was "marbleized". And get this : I think she could see just fine out of it, she was "tracking" me while I held her. Really cool looking and I think the super macro picture came out really cool on my crappy point and shoot digital.
  10. My family had a custom home built when I was about 10. We had a 295 gallon tank built into the house. the filter system (which was massive) was in the basement. It was very very cool, but also a TON of work to maintain. Through the years we had a myriad of fish in that tank. But from day one till a couple of years before we moved we had two oscars. One was named Oscar ( aint that clever?) and the albino was named b*tch (aint that crude?). They grew to be massive, maybe 11 inches or more. My mom is kind of a tree hugger, so they didn't get feeder fish. She wanted them to eat only cichlid pellets. But why don't you try and keep a twelve year old from feeding them grass hoppers and baby crawdads ;D
  11. Oh yeah???........................... well let me tell you something. It ain't understood in California either. One time after a very strenuous night of club hopping with my cousin in hollywood, I had to relieve myself so bad I couldn't hold it. So I went around the side of this closed gas gas station. I had just started pithy'n when a cop drove up and threatened to lock me up! Well my fine long legged friend. I failed to see the humor in that!!!! ;D P.S. I think Avid just hit on me. He called me long legged and fine....
  12. I have the 7.5 Baby Bass.
  13. Sorry Avid, no real tips from me. You have to understand, that bait came out a LONG time ago and was way ahead of its time, being that is has no boot tail and no lip. The one that I had must have had about 25 nail weights in it by the time I gave up, LOL! The mission fish on the other hand is SUPER SWEET!!!
  14. They are amazing. I have 5 of their hardbaits. 2 Armageddons, 1 1-up, and 2 wake jr's. I WANT MORE!!!! They flat out whack fish too!
  15. Jeez, some of you guys need to relax. I swear, pithy humor is not understood on this site.
  16. "mmmmmmmmmm spit roasted mountain gorilla, tasty"
  17. I've used the smaller one. just a crank bait as far as i am concerned. have not tried the big ones. not interested. Anybody that is interested in them, they are being sold as Mr.Bill by a company I can't remember.
  18. IF that were true, that would be the funniest crap I have heard in awhile!
  19. I use 10-20lb sufix braid with about 6 feet of 8-10lb flourocarbon for a leader. After using this method for the last 7 or 8 months, i could never go back!
  20. RW< 3-4 minutes?!?!? What are you crazy? more like 30 seconds LOL!!! I probably only fought those fish on the light rod for 3 or 4 minutes, but it felt like an eternity compared to what I am used to! Chris, the 2000 size feels better to me, but I like the SOL alot more than the Tierra so I usually use it on that rod. I don't really throw anything lighter than 1/8. I use 1/8 dartheads fairly often and it handles those very well ( with the added weight of a 4.5 -6" worm) I typically dropshot with 1/8-3/16 oz weights and that is what the rod LOVES to throw! The best drop shot rod I have ever used, bar none.
  21. joe, its not a custom, it is a Powell MAX 702 ml fast. i usually have a daiwa sol 2500 on that rod, but that reel has an annoying noise coming from it, so the tierra 2000 got the nod for the weekend. RW, I really do love smallmouth, but there is just something about a big largie whacking a giant bait, that just really does it for me. That was a whole lot of fun. I reel set into that largie and felt the weight and how slow it was moving, and i turned to my buddy and said, i think its a big one...... 2 seconds later: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!
  22. Yep. I thought it was a funkin Yetti the first time I heard it. Creepy.
  23. Had a pretty good weekend! It was real tough during the day, but I did manage this 4lb 14oz smallie on a Harshhedz shakey head. It is my official smallie pb! At night the bite was real good! I was dropshotting when the sun went down, and as the night progressed I had a hard time putting that rod down and "trophy hunting". But I did manage this 6lb 12oz beauty, which is the biggest fish I have ever caught on a drop shot! Good times!
  24. plenty of fishing boat rentals at clear lake, just not "full blown" bass boats according to the guy at clearlake bait and tackle that i called.
