  1. Got my package today and the bait looks great. I'll see how it fishes in the next few days. Thanks a bunch, you're a stand up guy. FB
  2. Matt, if I am understanding correctly, you are looking for advice for sea bass tackle. This forum focuses on freshwater bass, so I'm not sure how much anyone will be able to help. I know I can't! Welcome to the forum.
  3. I'm pretty sure that this belongs in the "Other Species" forum.
  4. I own shimano, lamiglas, okuma, and fish redingtons all the time. I couldnt tell you what loomis rods i have used. I have probably fished 6 or 7 different rods of theirs. I don't dislike them, they just are not really worth the money and hype in my eyes. I have used two different models salmon fishing, and various rods worming/flipping/cranking. I like the redingtons alot, my buddy is sponsored by them so I have fished probably 15-20 different rods of theirs. So I might go with them, shimano, lamiglas, or possibly St. Croix. Most of my rods are Lamiglas which I really dig on. Not super high end by any means, but a great rod.

That is a bummer you guys are stuck on shore. People here complain about our government! hmmph! at least we get to use boats. Shore isn't so bad, my three biggest fish came from shore.
  6. I agree that it looks much bigger to me than most people are saying. But it just isn't worth establishing a "PB" that you don't know the weight of. Weigh the next 5+ you catch and call that your PB. Great fish though dude!
  7. yeah i've played around with the crucial and steez, along with some loomises, redingtons, lamiglas, fenwick, powell. I like the cucial the most out of my price range. I have never used a St. Croix, although i know there are a ton of guys on here that use them, there just aren't any dealerships that I am aware of in my immediate area, and unless someone does a real good job of convincing me, I won't buy rods sight unseen. Having fished with both kistler and loomis, for the price, I am not impressed. The only exception being a prototype helium flipping stick I threw a couple casts a few months ago. I would like to hear from some more St. Croix users. Thanks for all the input so far guys.
  8. no one else fishes it. but it is actually a pretty tough bite with most stuff. its never real fast paced but it is usually good for 5 or 6 fish in an hour or two.
  9. I got permission to fish this little 125X125ft pond a few weeks ago. The water is nasty, there is only 2 places to cast from and even those are cramped, its real snaggy, full of hydrilla, AND EVERY FISH WEIGHS BETWEEN 2 AND 3 POUNDS! It is sweet. I have caught 1 dink and got broke off by a good fish, but other than that all 30+ fish have been between 2 and three. They like jigs. Here is one of the average fish at 2-9. They fight harder pound for pound than any other largemouth I have ever been around. The 5+ that broke me off (wrapped around a log)pulled much harder than my 13-1 on the same rod! These guys are a blast!
  10. What are some favorites of yours? I have been looking at various models but can't really nail anything down for sure. Looking for a 6'6"- 7' , not sure of what power yet, but most likely ml-m. I fell in love with the steez, but it is out of range. anything between 70-200, but I have NO interest in loomis or kistler stuff. I'm digging the crap outta the crucial, but like I said I am on the fence. Any input?
  11. Thats funny you should say that. I do. I'm serious. Sony PSP W/ Wifi. Its the only time I ever play/use that thing. It comes in pretty handy. You'll never know when I'm posting something while "at work" ha ha ha. I do have a book in there. but no magazines, only the PSP and a book. It only works sometime because it "borrows" my neighbors wifi. he knows, its all good.
  12. I caught both of these earlier this year on swimbaits. The first one is a Sacramento Pike Minnow that went 7lbs5oz and the channel catfish was 4lbs15ozs.
  13. I dont understand why anyone subrcscribes to magazines anymore. There is a practically unlimited resource that I use, "the internet" . JK I just like being able to find exactly what I want, when I want it, with less obtrusive advertising. Magazines seem like such a wate of money now.
  14. I have been flipping and pitching with spinning gear for stream trout since I was a wee lad. Lots of fun
  15. Like you said, Muskies and flatheads. Also would like to go after Tigerfish, peacock bass, giant wels, aruana, TAIMEN, Buffalo, paddlefish, oh and someday I would like to catch a sturgeon too!
  16. I used to own a powerdrive, but never again. I think that cable steering is the way to go. minn kota or motorguide they are both good. i do have some buddies that like the powerdrive/motorguide wireless. I just had a ton of problems with mine but it was kind of old.
  17. Cart: The rod I want is not very common, but I would be happy to relieve someone of their Lowrance x-96 or x125. I do keep a pretty close eye on the flea market section. But unless I see someone selling a Calcutta 400, or a Lowrance I'm probably pretty screwed on the finding it cheap. I ebay just about everything. Catt: It is so.
  18. Im on the water about 300 days a year, with trips between 1 and 22 hours.
  19. After spending a few grand on a boat, and buying a new bow mount, and batteries, I was ready for a new bow graph. Sweet! Spent some time shopping around, found a few models I liked, then my starter blew up! YAY! So I just burned alot of my graph money on a stupid starter. Freakin money pit! That being said, I love my boat. So much freedom! But at 21 with some pretty hefty bills and working carpentry I'm getting a little tired of taking the boat monkey to the doctor. The price of poker. Ah well, just a little venting. i'll just get a graph next month or something. There is a super high end bait, and a very expensive rod in the future so those have to be figured in here pretty soon. I can't imagine how some of you guys manage the big glitter rockets, and 15 loomises in the locker! I'm glad its the only thing I truley love doing, cause it is the only thing I spend money on!
  20. I could really go for some 5-15's fish... as long as they are green with a black stripe . Sometimes numbers aren't so bad dude. Think about it. You could be like me and give up on the big bite for the day, only to get skunked drop shotting > It was a rough weekend.
  21. There is a 24 lber that I believe was caught, that we are forgetting about though.
  22. I think there is reason to be concerned. What if the young man's PB swims away with a mouth full of crankbait and all he will have to lip is the lip of his bait. That's not worth the risk to mw. Granted, crankbaits aren't exactly a real consistent big fish bait in general, but it could definitely happen. That would be my concern over the price. Also some lure companies, such as SPRO have a pretty poor system when it comes to addressing defective baits, sort of like Kistler's "just wrap some tape" reel seat policy. If you aren't worried about losing fish, then RW is pretty much right on. FB
  23. I'll second that, *** rocks. usacproshop.com gets to me faster, but they are only about 70 miles away and ship fedex. I ordered one morning at about 8 or 9 and the next day it was on my doorstep. I like TW more though. Pretty hard not to spend $50 and get the free fedex shipping.
  24. 18 isnt a world record now is it?
