Good insight - it appears many more people favor a C-Rig with 15lb. to 20lb. FC main line with a 12lb. to 15lb. mono or co-poly leader .

Who tried braid as a C-Rig main line and didn't like it ? ...Reasons why you didn't like braid with a C-Rig ?

^^This^^ !! Very small YET you don't want so small that the swivel could actually enter the bead hole or sinker hole (if not using a bead) ...A #10 ~ #12 size swivel size is just the ticket for this !!

Besides lack of casting distance with #4lb. FC on a ultralight - my hook setting suffered as well . The lack of stretch with #5lb. PP really helps in this case !

Strike King - comes in a pack of 5 or so at WM ... Good basic color selection plus sweet potato swirl color which is unique and catches bass .

Well I don't fish too deep but a combo of stained water and overcast skies could be good for the black back / chartreuse color .

My Power Pro Set Ups : 5.5' ultralight rod - 1000 series spinning reel : 5lb. PP 6'6" light rod - 1500 series spinning reel : 8lb. PP 7'0" medium light rod - 2500 series spinning reel : 10lb. PP 7'0" medium rod - 2500 series spinning reel : 15lb. PP 7'0" medium heavy rod - 3000 series spinning reel : 20lb. PP I guess you could say I like Power Pro on my spinning set ups - I use all with a FC or co-poly leader for : Ned Rig , Slip Shot , Drop Shot , Shaky Head , Fluke , Swim Jig .

I see various crank bait series offered in both the black back chartreuse color and then the chartreuse / green / blue back (i.e. citrus / parrot) color . Is there a rule of thumb (sky / water color) when you might choose the basic black back chartreuse crank bait color versus the chartreuse / green blue back color crank bait ? Thanks in advance - the reasoning to choose between these two crank bait color patterns has always been a bit of a mystery to me !

Raul : You left out a zero - for split shotting Mexico bass you use 60lb. test mono !!

Thanks also Glenn ! ... My (problem ?) current setup is a Shimano 2500 series spinning reel with #10lb. braid on it already .... I want to see if I can tie on the braid to a 7' length of #6lb. P-Line Fluoroclear (double uni) then peg a mojo weight followed by a thin wire worm hook and 4" cut tail worm ... Although a dedicated co-poly line rod & reel set up would be more simplistic - I should (hopefully) get by with the above set up .

So , I take it on a slip shot rig you tie a length of co-poly line onto the #10lb. braid , then peg a mojo weight on the co-poly line followed by hook and soft plastic ? So basically just two knots right ?

For those of you that throw the above rig - do you prefer straight 6lb. - 8lb. FC line or 10lb. - 15lb. braid then FC or copolymer line leader ?

My C-Rig line setup : 15lb. Seaguar AbrazX mainline ; 12lb. Sufix mono leader *You always want your leader to be a lower strength rated line than your main line - so you can break off if required and get your rig back !

Throwing a spinner bait at night here in Georgia means a different set up than a day spinner bait set up : Big single colorado blade "thumpers" weighing upwards of 3/4 to 1 oz. fished deep slow rolling at night while a daytime spinner bait with willow leaf blades won't exceed 1/2 oz. For the night time thumper I would recommend a 7'3" MH rod , 5:4:1 reel with 20lb. FC line while a day time spinner bait can get by with a lighter outfit .

Not sure what the MM III is supposed to represent with it's dark colors - I'm thinking it would primarily be good for stained to muddy water or overcast to dark sky conditions ?

For those of you who use the above MMII & MMIII (Margarita Mutilator) color choices - what water conditions are best for using these two colors ?

I was in denial - until the family decided on an intervention . The intervention didn't work - all it accomplished was that I promised to cut back ... Then ICAST happened (again) and I found myself pre-ordering some new soft plastics - but ONLY in Green Pumpkin and Junebug I swear !! ... Uhhmmm - you never know when I might need that Zoom special run of raspberry shad in a finesse worm though !!

One option I like about having a BPS super store near me is that I can gointo the store and choose from several carbonlites in the same length , action and power ...I'm pretty picky about straight rod blanks , properly alligned rod guides , etc. As much as I love places like TW - for bigger ticket items I like to choose in person .

Color doesn't bother me ... I want to consider a new Carbonlite baitcast rod for all - around use and the old / black versions were previously rated high .

There have been reports that the "new" BPS Carbonlite rods are not as good of performance as the previous "old" version carbonlite rods... For those of you who have fished with both - please detail your findings ? Thanks in advance for your replies !

I would look at a Daiwa Exceler series (perhaps in a 35 or 40 size) as your using a 7'MH for a reason I suppose with some heavier line ? ...The Daiwa Exceler is around $75 so not too bad a cost and a nice reel . Another option would be a Pflueger President in a 40 series at about the same price .

^^This^^ I use AbrazX though in 15lb. but can't go wrong with a Zoom baby brush hog in Green Pumpkin or Junebug if water is more stained . While a tungsten weight is a nice touch - I use 1/2oz. ~ 1oz. steel egg sinkers that deep .
