  1. The only draw back that I have heard of with them is that they wear out quickly and are not good with braided lines.
  2. Evergreen super stallion stick with a Px type R or Presso. Might even use a steez rod to stick with brand loyalty!
  3. Good rod. Some people don't like the cork/foam mix but I like it. I would prefer cork all the way down just because of looks, but very nice sensitive rod. It is a hair on the heavy side but nothing that's really going to wear your arm out.
  4. Bump it up 40 bucks and get that GLX on the flea market forum. That is a smoking deal.
  5. I am with bluebasser on this one. Fall when's the shad are coming up works great.
  6. I have a question here too. Is it buoyant like Mono or does it sink like Fluoro? Does it still have enough stretch for such things as lipless and other cranks? Is it resistant enough for jigs in brush and rip rap? If the answer to these questions is yes would you agree it is the most fantastic creation in the line world in a long time? I have considered trying it but I have such presentation specific set ups that certain lines are used for certain techniques, but if I could save a lot of money on line by using this for multiple presentations then why wouldn't I? That is all.
  7. I would also recommend a reel with a higher gear ratio(7:1 to 8:1) if you are wanting to get into jig fishing. Not that what you have wouldn't work but I prefer a higher ratio reel for my jig fishing. I use a Zillion 100HSA and an Aggrest for my jigs because I get the jig in where I want it and if nothing bites I want it out fast to make another cast.
  8. I agree, Ron is timely and professional. He takes the time to give you a quote and even offers to save you money by shipping items together if the one you want is out of stock. Thanks Ron.
  9. Hogsticker is spot on. I have used Daiwa rods for years now and am placing an order for 4 Tatula rods tonight. Med/Reg will be good for your 1/2 once baits but if you move up to 3/4 or 1 ounce baits you will want the MH so that the rods are loading up correctly.
  10. Looks like I will be headed to Dick's after work to get some new baits.
  11. I am with the other guys on this one. Fuego for sure. Add some Hedgehog bearings and a 100m spool and it turns into your personal little red monster.
  12. Last night I was putting a Daiwa Advantage 153H7 back together that I had let a buddy borrow(it looked awful, my mistake). When I got to the drag system I noticed on the schematics that the bearing washer was not in the same order that I took it off in. It did not get moved or anything like that but It was not sitting on the bearing as shown, it was under the drag spring washers on top of the clicking mechanism. I put it back together as I had taken it apart and it did not apear to change anything such as feel, drag or clicking. I was just wondering if anyone had ever encountered this or if it will cause any problems.
  13. 3 from list 2; LOZ, Table Rock and Bull Shoals
  14. I also like to use a floating lizard or worm like Zman and the now impossible to find SK 3x Floating Lizards. With this presentation a subtle twitch of the rod tip has great action. I also use a Viento with the twitchin' bar for the C-rig because it keeps me slow and one quick press of the bar and the bait goes erratic. I prefer to use it around vegetation and submerged brush/logs.
  15. I will check one of those books to see if I can figure it out. Thanks J Francho.
  16. Yeah one of my fishing buddies said he knew how to get it back together, but once the little flat metal "springs" fell out he said"what are those". Great right. I think I ma be able to get it together though. I cleaned alot of the gunky overloaded grease out of it. and gave the cables a good slide they seemed to be loose enough to be moved by the throttle when pushed. On the water I put it into reverse to get it off the trailer and it seemed to want to move foward. Not sure what is happening. Thought maybe they were on backwards.
  17. My control Box and or cables are not working properly it will not go into gear. I am afraid I may need a new one. This is a Gen 1 model on a 1998 Nitro with a 115 Mariner. If you havehave one or know of anyone with on I would greatly appreciate a PM. If you have a Gen 2 and the Cables that would also work. Or someone with the general knowledge of how I could reassemble mine would be helpful.
  18. I should send you a few of my Viento reels. I havent attempted them because of the Twitchin Bar. LOL. I like your idea here.
  19. Welcome to Missouri. Table Rock is a fun lake to fish but as BlueBasser said earlier it can be tough.
  20. And I got my lure back.
  21. Yeah that was a strange catch. That guy actually wrapped my line around a submerged log. I thought he got off but to my surprise whe is was unwinding my line from around the log it took off and a just pulled my line back till he was in my hands. Weird day but pretty fun.
  22. HAHAHA. Dont know why but that made me laugh when I scrolled down.
  23. And I believe these are still on sale at TW for 125.00, that is a smoking deal. You would love it.
  24. Welcome To BR. You will learn lots
  25. I used these a few times in the fall with success. I added a few Colorado blades to the mix with the Willowleaf blades and the bass that were pulling shallow chasing shad loved it.
