Thought about this today... Supposedly the Spro Aruka Shad lipless crank is designed to look like a feeding baitfish at when rest. Let me explain...If you let it sink and stop on the bottom, it supposedly has the head down at the bottom, with the rest of the body angled upward, like the fish is pecking on something at the bottom. Now I'm thinking about tossing a bluegill pattern Spro onto spawning beds. My only concern is the trebles getting caught on the vegetation around beds. So I bought 2 weedess 3/0 Owners and I'm thinking about removing the trebles and putting these on. Thoughts?

I'm playing with the idea of picking up a rod to use for jigs and toads, as I want to learn and get better with both those applications. But based on the waters I fish, I can't really imagine going over 3/8 oz jigs much if at all. With that said, is a H rod the best bet? I was thinking about a BPS Pro Qualifier 7 MH that is recommeneded for I believe 3/8 to 1.5 oz lures. Any advice on whether or not a MH would likely have enough backbone for pulling bass out of the slop?

Personally, the 2500 Daiwa Tierra felt too heavy on my St Croix Avid AS68MLXF, so I went with the 2000. Different rod, different reel, but you may want to try it in person if possible.

If you want to spennd $150 on the rod alone, the St Croix Avid is hard to beat. But I agree with RW. The BPS combo price essentially give you a pretty good $100 rod for $30 on top of the $120 for the Stradic. I know, I have that combo Then you have another $120 to spend on tackle...

FYI, the Clarus is NOT Shimano's high-end rod. The Compre and the Crucial are both 'higher'. But if it's down to one of those two, go with the Premier.

Anyone have any input on the most versatile polarized sunglass lens for fishing? I'm likely gonna get a pair of Costa Del Mar's, and the BPS catalog description makes it look like vermillion is the most versatile. The lady I spoke to at BPS disagreed, recommending amber (she said not many folks like the coloring of the vermillion lens). Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Agree with RW. Look at the Shimano Sahara/BPS Bionic Blade combos at Bass Pro Shops.

Are there any knots that work especially well or especially poorly with copoly line? I'm trying it for the first time this year and it would be nice to know that I won't be flinging lures across the lake by tying a correct knot. Generally I just use a palomar. Will this guy hold with copoly?
