  1. I’ve posted multiple messages in this forum about my wading in Panama City Beach and Hilton Head that should come up easily in a search
  2. Howdy fellow East Cobber! I find that the normal Stradic is typically preferable to me as the added weight tends to balance better with a variety of rods. The light weight of the Vanford looks great, but unless you’re matching it with an equally light rod I think you’ll find your rig likely to be tip heavy. PS - where do you typically fish around here?
  3. The 6# would get a home on a few of my spinning rigs for drop shots, Ned rigs, and split shutting. The 30# likely will get a ride on my inshore saltwater rigs throwing plugs, swim baits and spoons.
  4. You can either go lighter line to maximize running depth, or heavier line to increase your odds of getting fish out of heavier cover.
  5. Go play with the sea trout and redfish for a few weeks!
  6. Sorry to hear this news
  7. Over the last week or two, the Balsa Monkey has set up shop right next to me on the couch. Three Black Label Hicksters already came in, and I ordered 4 more Wreck squarebills today. @iabass8 - how does this work? Should I just send the bill to you, or what? ?
  8. On that note, does anyone know of an easy resource to view the weather for the PREVIOUS few days? I'm thinking along the same lines as Catt to identify warming trends in the late winter/early spring and trying to find a way to see a snapshot of the high/low temps the previous few days to see what the trend has been. Everything I've found online either only shows me a single day's report, OR makes me have to submit for some kind of "report". Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
  9. I find a Rage rig works decently for me in similar situations.
  10. For some reason, I just started to get the strong urge to try balsa so I grabbed a few Black Label Hicksters to start. Now I’m staring at the 5-6 different square bill offerings from BL trying to determine which to try. Analysis paralysis!
  11. How much are the dues to join a local bass club as a co-angler? That's a different direction than most of the advice above, but may be worth looking into as an option.
  12. Ooohhhh...I may need one or two of those glass minnow imitations in my box.
  13. Tatula 150 does the froggin' job for me.
  14. I have a 150 w/ 50 lb braid on a Kistler KLX 7'3" H/Mod Fast, and it's my frog rig. I can bomb cast a frog and I've never had issues getting fish out of cover.
  15. Snook, permit, sailfish, blackfin/bluefin/yellowfin tuna, wahoo, full-grown mahi...
  16. You should tow the Lund down to Lanier for a few days and stop in at Hammonds ?
  17. You ordering from Hammonds now too? They’re about an hour away from me and are unquestionably the finest mom-and-pop tackle shop I’ve ever set foot in.
  18. For the vast majority of my plug fishing, I've long used duolock snaps for ease of bait switching. I've seen articles and comments by folks who remove the split ring on the plugs before attaching them to the snap so I'm curious who does this, and if there is a difference in plug action or some other benefit.
  19. Agree with the guys above saying 3/4 oz will be too much in the 704
  20. And the beef was pretty good too! Now I get the benefit of a hunk of USDA Prime tenderloin sitting in the fridge to make some sliders with
  21. They're not light, but they feel that way due to the care Dobyns puts toward balance once there's a reel on the rod. Paired with an OG Zillion, this combo is a staple in my arsenal that I mostly use for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, bladed jigs, paddletail swimbaits and larger topwaters. How heavy are you planning on the jigs/t-rigs?
  22. That's a good lookin' reel. But I bet it'll be a pain in the butt to service the flux capacitor
  23. Beer tenderloin, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and some fresh rolls. Normally I cook for 16 but only 6 adults this year.
