Pitching And Flipping Help Needed
If that's what ya got. You'll make it work. I only like braid in the green stuff. It tends to dig in wood with heavy weight. Mono will work. I've even used 20 lb with success. Use a heavy rod or at least a medium heavy and set the hook pretty hard and get the fish out as fast as possible. Check the line for Frays frequently.

What Went Wrong
Nothing went wrong. It's called fishing. When things get tough go in a different direction and size. Carry a spinning rod with ya and fish slow. Light line small baits. Tubes, tail weighted worms, shakey heads, maybe a drop shot. Weird weather puts fish in a finicky funk. They go deep or suspend in the middle of nowhere. Make it easy for them to eat.

Young Low Budget Anglers
Check out gander mountain bass pro or a cabelas and look at the "house rods" the ones that have there name on them. These rods might be a better deal. But you are looking for a 6'6" - 7' medium heavy or heavy graphite With a fast tip. And mono and copolymer lines are still great to use! I would go with somthin like 15-20 lb line. It's cheap and forgiving. Look for name brand like mccoy, stren, sunline or trilene.

A Beginner's Fishing Journey
Dragging Texas rigs and Carolina rigs with that slime that you say you pick up, don't go together! Haha. There is no way around it. Swim Texas rigs back to you slow or fast, experiment. Keep it off the bottom where the slime is. Videos on this website and youtube that will show you step by step the process for tying a carolina rig

A Beginner's Fishing Journey
This website and youtube are your friend for learning. I think you want to learn a lot of things in short periods like me. Learning Alot of fishing techniques, tackle, lures, science take time. What I would do is pick one for a couple of weeks and get accustomed to it. Whether it be Texas rigs or carolina or knots or pitching and flipping baits.

Lizard Skin Wrap
I decided to make my split grip cork handle into a full grip. So I went to dicks sporting goods, went to the baseball section. I bought a product called lizard skin. It's a over wrap grip for bats. So far I love the grip its not tacky at all. It is pretty easy to apply with its sticky back. Just wanted to share.

What Do You Pack When You Bank Fish?
I hike when I fish too. But only day trips for at most 12 hrs. those hikes are mainly for a bigger lake I fish. Besides fishing tackle like rods and my tackle back pack. I carry only a few extra things like a folding knife a multi tool a couple granola bars and a drink. I keep some extra clothes in my car.

Northeast Angler? How Was (Is) Fishing Summer 2015
Yea not that great either but this summer I haven't gone out as much as I wanted to. Probly only went out out 10 times. Which is low. Last year I was practically out 3 or 4 days a week all summer. Just 1 to 2 pounders this year.

Tackle Backpack
If the bass pro bag 8s the red one. It's pretty good quality. Lots 9f storage options.

"a Silent Panther"
Sounds good man. If the reel works great and has qualities you prefer it's always a great deal. Only two things I'll tell ya is to learn to back reel instead of relying on its drag. And close the bail by hand don't turn the handle to close the bail.

Baitcaster Line Keeps Breaking
Replace the rod if you bought it recently if not replace the guide or take it to someone who can. You might also lose fish in the future if you keep using 8 lb mono on a baitcaster and using lures like a jig spinnerbait or chatterbait. Step up to at least 12 lb. Most of the time 8 lb will snap on hookset. Unless you just reel into the fish and have drag set looser. Then the hook might not go through the fishes mouth.
