  1. 10 packs of cobra flipping hooks, Carolina beads, six packs of ewg hooks, 10 pack Egg sinkers from TW for 24.00 And a new revo sx from ebay for 114.00. Some good deals.
  2. Yonex is what I used for my one rod. I bought it at DICKS SPORTING GOODS for 10 bucks. It was In the baseball section. I've tried lizard skin too that works too.
  3. I wanted to go up there this fall! I missed out cause of car trouble.usually that's the place to be around late october. Especially if you have a boat. Which I dont.
  4. Summer might be different... I was up a creek arm off the 183 bridge walking the bank. Coming from reading it's the first little bridge you cross.
  5. Stained water works just as well if not better for spinnerbaits. Especially around cover.
  6. I would try either the deepest part of the pond or the thickest cover. Lures small lures. Underspins. 1/4 oz or less jighead with a grub and just slow retrieve. Just enough speed to keep it about a foot off the bottom. Try dragging a small finesse jig or football jig. Obviously try all around the pond with those lures. Maybe burn a lipless crankbait as fast as you can. Somthing they can react to.
  7. Check out the bps Xps red backpack Holds 3600 boxes A few side pouches for line tools small tackle box like a double sided plano. Has a big zippered pouch where I usually have a gallon sized zip lock full of plastcs. Comfortable straps too.
  8. Here's another, probly around 20 inches and 5 lbs on a flipping jig. And this bass has those black spots on its tail. Fought so hard.
  9. Since you'll be using braid most likely a fast action will be better. A little more give to cast smoother. I think you can also work the frog a bit better with a little more tip. Up in PA I won't handle the fish size you do, but I use a rod that's more on the MH side and still has a stiff backbone 3/4 of the way up.
  10. People say it's a barren wasteland. It's not a bad place to fish. It's just tough. Put the time in. just got to find the fish...Easier said then done. Find one find more in the same spot. Just a theory but I believe that these fish follow bait they don't stick around too long. I noticed when I was walking the bank I was spooking bluegills and that's where the bass were. Lots of stumps and downed trees where I was fishing too.
  11. After work I went to the lake. For once every decision I made was great. Lures were bluegill squarebill that I painted and a brown flipping jig. Was just paralleling the bank with the squarebill with a stop and go retrieve, casting to visible cover. Pitching the jig to visible cover. Caught 3 fatties around 3 lbs with squarebill 2 got off and caught 1 biggin about 3 1/2 lbs with the jig. Up a creek arm some what steep banks. The lake was down about 4 foot. Made it easier to walk the bank. Don't know what else to say except I had a great time.
  12. 3/0 eagle claw ewg I like the zoom lizards too... but my secret weapon is z man lizards they float off the bottom.
  13. Maybe some trout magnets
  14. The baitfish go shallow around cover. Whether it be weed lines or brush or laydowns. Where there is food and comfort. aaannnnnndddd... the bass follow. The biggest thing is to find where majority of the bait is. That's the tricky part.
  15. Yea braid has a tendency of digging into its self. Try a thicker braid. I'm pretty close to cutting off the hook keeper. It does get annoying.
  16. I think you'd be suprised where you'll find largemouth. Those bass got big probably because they are old and had time to grow. Like you said nobody up there fishes for them so they probly don't get disturbed too much, like loch Ness monster! To prove the population of the largies. Site fish in late april. Haha
  17. The deal breaker with stretch is what you hate but what's great for treble baits
  18. Well if you're fishing thicker cover then yea I'd keep it the same size. That's usually how I choose my line size. Also reading line specs on my rod. Heavier the cover heavier the line. I wouldn't go under 15 lb though. So you'll be fine 15-20 lb line.
  19. My girlfriend more or less cast pretty decent after I taught her. I set the baitcaster up for her. A few backlashes. But I have to keep patience. After a good cast I tell how to retrieve the lure.
  20. Want to kno if anyone has held or used one of these rods. The one with full cork handle. Thinking of buying a medium heavy for jigs and Texas rigs. Seem like nice rods. I just can't find any reviews on them anywhere. Everytime I search I find the foam split grip and that's not the one I want. Characteristics of the rod would be nice. what type of flex the tip has. Are the eyes sturdy? Does it have a good backbone? Any help would be nice. And can't find them in any local stores around me. Thanks
  21. Fishing from the bank. I usually try to find shallow cover. Somthin that draws baitfish to it. Laydowns, green vegatation rocky banks, overhangs. I think in a bass's mind it's looking for a place to ambush it's prey, whatever it is. Blugill, shiners, crayfish. Lack of shallow cover? They will probly be sitting on the first break in the shallows. The first dip in depth. I would travel up the arms of the lake and search for cover like this and use moving lures first cranks and spinnerbait or chtterbait. Pass over it again with jig, wacky worm, Texas rig.
  22. Foam Ear plugs work well. I've even heard of putting air into the bait using a seringe.
