  1. Fluoro is only supposed to be used as leader material anyway so it really doesn't matter.
  2. That's known as the "hover" around these parts
  3. If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns....
  4. Any Chevy is a good Chevy... http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120619004030/random-ness/images/5/51/And_here_we_go.gif
  5. ^^^^ Great advice Sam. This is such a huge topic, the only thing I can add is to not get overwhelmed with all the different types, colors and presentations of soft plastics available. I'd pick 1 or 2 baits that intrigue you, go out with just these 2 baits, and fish them; get some confidence in them; then pick 2 more etc... If you try to learn all 3,472 different baits and methods at once, you're going to get frustrated. I'd start out with a simple stick bait like a Senko and some sort of texas rigged craw bait. probably 2 of the most used soft plastics out there. Go get em!!
  6. Oh, a couple of tips I forgot earlier. You will need a couple of marker buoys. If I'm on a big hump or ridge, I'll throw one on top of it and typically fish the sides. If it's a smaller piece of structure, I'll throw it away from it just to use it as a reference point. Once you start using buoys, you will be shocked at how you float around and move off your structure without realizing it.
  7. Choot em Elizabeth!!! Choot em!!!
  8. I am addicted to fishing offshore. I rarely, very rarely, fish a bank anymore. Offshore just offers so much more than a bank. Everyone can see the same things on a bank but not so offshore. First off, you need decent electronics with gps. I've tried the old "Ok, line up with the camp with the red door, that big rock and that huge pine with the broken limb"...it don't work. You just can't find that VW size spot again without gps. Second, I have found that deeper, offshore fish seem less affected by pressure changes than shallower, shoreline fish. When the bite slows down on a bank, I can go to humps and continue whackin em. It just seems easier to find biting fish on humps than down a shoreline.
  9. I'm gonna need a bigger boat...
  10. ^^^No more tips from you mister! It's because of your enticing video that I'm hooked on another technique needing more tackle! jk man, great video really explaining that rig. Can't wait to try it. Does the mold come with the center wire? How do you make the hole in the center?
  11. Thank you Warrior. I tried there but the pages of product wouldn't come up for me. I ended up ordering form TW. Thanks again
  12. Where are you folks getting those cylindrical finesse weights for the mojo rig? This is a technique I want to try this year but BPS will not ship lead to Maine, Cabelas and Dicks don't have them. Where can I order them from?
  13. Cool vid Ace! Those are some amazing bucks!
  14. Look into these guys http://www.usabassin.com/ I've fished some of theirs and they a a little more low key than some larger opens. Great way to start.
  15. Kinda looks like Robert De Niro
  16. I have a Reese S-Glass crankin rod and really feel I have landed fish on that rod that I wouldn't have on a graphite rod. Just barely hooked fish stay buttoned a little better on that soft rod. I throw a ton of traps in spring and fall. If you have never held and shook a true parabolic rod like a glass rod, you need to. It's a whole different feel. I will say that you lose sensitivity with a glass rod and they are heavier than graphite. So, if you like to feel your way around the bottom, a composite rod may be a good compromise. And if you are going to find one to try, make sure it's a true glass rod. I bought one of those teal blue Clunn s-glass crankin rods (it was only $20...) but it's nothing like the parabolic Reese glass rod I have. You'll know the difference as soon as you shake it.
  17. Nice job Farmer! I'm glad to hear you are feeling and sleeping better. That's gotta be nice. You should be very proud of yourself, that's a hard thing to do. Keep it up man.
  18. Man I would love to try one on my home lake. The first thing to learn: keep trying different baits until you get bit. The fish are there, just gotta catchem.
  19. Classic movie right there. Abbie Normal...makes me lol every time! And please don't use Dr. Demento and 30 yrs ago in the same sentence ever again...lol
  20. ^^^I'll ditto the above!
  21. That's awesome Bill! Fishing is such a clean, natural hobby. I love hearing about/seeing kids get into fishing.
  22. well, I prefer Power Pro Super Slick in either 15 or 20 lb and I usually use a 12-15 lb fluoro leader. That should cover just about any situation you need. That braid casts fantastic, no memory etc...
  23. Dang Deb! I hope all went well and you recover quickly and better than before!
