  1. all of these were caught out of the susquehanna river near wilkes barre, pa. i know you guys love seeing pictures of stuff so here ya go. plenty of 3+ lbers which is a tank for a river smallie around here.
  2. Had some luck in the dark a couple nights ago using a black/blue buzzbait the had 3 blades on the prop. Added a trailer hook and some megastrike for good measure.. Good luck!
  3. i like quantity AND quality, lol
  4. with the 5 i caught today im at 102. last year it took me until june 28th to cross the 100 mark.
  5. still hittin down there. havent been skunked on the susky yet this year.
  6. knowledge and experience are the best "confidence."
  7. i have a 6' medium fast. a lot of my fishing is split between boat and bank fishing so it fits into tight areas with ease beating the banks as well as good in a boat. its caught 40 river smallies, 39 largies, a perch, and a pickerel so for this year and it has held up to everything.
  8. ive been using a bass pro shops tourney special. got it on sale, best $40 ive spent in a while. light, sensitive, and plenty of backbone. i do gotta say the placement of the hook keeper is lame, but other than that its been a good workhorse for me so far this year. been throwing tons of wacky on it, and some texas rigging senkos on it too. performs pretty well.
  9. i wore sunscreen and was standing right in the susquehanna river and caught 12 nice smallies, lost a handful more crankbaiting. they didnt seem to mind i was wearing it.
  10. there really are some great fisheries around bradford county, even though i havent been to them in years. caught some of my biggest bass ever at mt pisgah(plus we used to catch HUGE perch there back in the 80's), canton lake, sunfish pond, great river fishing, countless farm ponds...the list goes on and on.
  11. the one in the dark was the biggest smallie of the week weighing in at 3lbs 4oz.
  12. here are some of the highlights. got a few more in the next post.
  13. The past 7 days i caught 37 river smallies(4 over 3lbs, tons over 2) 22 Largemouth(averaging around 15 inches or so), and a walleye...for a total of 60 fish! Once I sort through the pictures I'll put up some of the highlights. Most were on ol' reliable wacky rigged senkos. Also caught some on cranks and spinnerbaits.
  14. yeah maybe i wont get down there sunday. i use this to determine how high the water is going to be in my area water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=bgm&gage=wbrp1 . any time it get much over 8' at this location the current makes it pretty un-fishable. i would say over 17' is pretty bad, lol. thats one thing i dont like about river fishing, the large, very fast, swings in water depth.
  15. Totals for the week so far are 37 smallies, 1 walleye. Probably won't get back down there until sunday.
  16. awesome. these florida guys just dont get what a feat that is here in pa. hopefully some day i can have the same type of experience.
  17. 10 more this morning, all on wacky rig.
  18. 31. 29 Were in the past 3 days.
  19. always 5. never had issues with weak knot strength.
  20. whenever i get a chance. if my work gets slow and i get laid off for a bit i'll go every day.
  21. get out there! last 2 days i caught 18 smallies and a walleye. all but 4 fish were caught on a green pumpkin/black fleck wacky rigged senko. the remaining 4 were caught split between a white strike king red eye special spinnerbait and a bps super shallow crank in brown craw. today they seemed piled up in slack water behind rapids, yesterday it was more right in the rapids but either way they are there and theyre hungry!
  22. rapala dt4s, bps xps super shallow cranks, and rebel craws work wonders for me for susquehanna river smallies
  23. i have a 6' mf tourney special spinning rod with a bps viper 5.1:1 spinning reel. really light with plenty of backbone. i use it mostly for bank fishing it tight areas and throwing really light cranks and spinnerbaits. does the job quite well. i also have an old mean green stick from '86 paired with a zebco 20/30 spincast. i used it for years and its still awesome. its semi-retired but i still use it a couple times a year just for nostalgia.
  24. I love dt4s. Pearl grey shiner, bluegill, perch, and brown craw have produced well for me.
