  1. I have always cleaned my own reels and put the bearings/entire spool in an ultrasonic cleaner. My cleaner died on me and want to give my most used reel a good cleaning as it has been acting up. I do not own a pair of pin removing pliers for the spool bearings. Can I just spray and pray with a can of brake cleaner?
  2. Harbor Freight, Ace, Tru Value, big box hardware stores sometimes carry it too.
  3. How are you getting them for $100? The site won't let me stack the coupon on the sale price of $129.
  4. My livewell hose split under the floor. There was no way for me to "see" it with a normal inspection. Just a thought.
  5. How about coils and wires? There was also an emergency "switch" on my 75hp that wouldn't allow spark to the coils. The switch is meant in case you hit something and the motor jerks it would sense and shut off all power. Unfortunately, if the switch goes bad then no spark either as was my case.
  6. Winston-Salem, just moved here this summer.
  7. Looks great! I taught 3rd grade for 8 years and am now teaching 4th grade. We started class last week. If you need any ideas or want to share information, please let me know! -Peter
  8. I got out on Salem Lake today. Spent 6 hours and caught 5 fish. 4 under 2lbs and 1 2.5lber. They would only hit a t-rigged green pumpkin senko (had to be a GYBC stick). I through everything at them today with not a whole lot happening. A guy told me to fish the aerators but got zilch with a dropshot and shakey head. I might try Badin Lake next weekend. I was told that Badin Lake was a good bass lake to hit up. Must be the results of summer down here! I am not liking this. As a teacher, the summer is my best time to get out on the lakes but it is so darn hot!
  9. Hey guys! I just moved to the Winston-Salem area and am stumped at how to fish such warm/hot water. I am from Northern Illinois and mostly fished in Northern Wisconsin during the summers where the highest water temps I have seen are around 85*. I have already been out to the Kerr Scott Reservoir, Salem Lake, and Belews Lake. Belews Lake was 96* and the KS Reservoir was 90*!!!!! I am mostly a bank beater and toss towards downed trees and points. I have never really learned how to fish deep and am assuming that is where most of the fish have relocated to in these temps. It has been very tough and not sure as to where to start. Hopefully someone out there can get me in the right direction (depth, colors, etc.). Thanks, Pete
  10. That is what I was planning on doing but wasn't sure if I should mount the Helix at the bow since that is where I spend most of my time.
  11. I hope the long-term sub thing pans out for you. I was given the same opportunity by my coordinating school when I finished with student teaching (computer lab teacher, classroom aide, in-house sub and then 3 months in 5th grade for a leave of absence). After everything I did for that school, I wasn't even considered for any full time position. I also received tons of praise and requests from other teachers but the administration never batted an eye in my direction. Like you, I always seem to plan new things that I want to try when being observed. They never work out and I have learned to just live with it. Not everyday is going to be 100%. I wish you luck and hope it all goes well.
  12. So I have 4 fish finders, 3 of which have been collected over the years. I decided to upgrade to a new Helix 5 (DI/GPS) unit and now need help making decisions on where to mount them all. Currently, I have a old Lowrance L series (came with boat) and a Humminbird 581i on the console with a Humminbird Piranha on the bow. I also have a mount to move the 581i to the bow, which I have done a few times to mark waypoints while on the trolling motor. My original idea was to take off the Lowrance and mount the new Helix on a swivel mount (i.e. Ram Mount) at the console and move the 581i to the bow permanently. This would allow me to sell the Piranha and Lowrance for some extra cash. Now I am thinking of just using the Helix and getting rid of everything else. Thoughts? I never really grew found of the 581i is that makes a difference.
  13. Not sure about you fellas in the Northeast, but here in Chicago-land we are being told more snow next weekend.
  14. As a teacher myself (3rd grade), don't sweat the lesson plans. I remember having to do formalized plans during student teaching and the first year on my own. While planning and classroom management are the most important, formalized plans are not. The toughest part of the job actually isn't teaching. The toughest parts are the certification requirements, state/federal mandates, and paperwork. Every so often I find time to teach.
  15. Gulp Alive 5" leeches. I sometimes slice the tail to create more action!
  16. Neil Pert for me with Travis Barker/Tommy Lee just for the fun to watch factor.
  17. I totally agree is the clubs not being a big game changer but there was something to be had when I first hit a set of soft forged irons. My Tour Edge Exotic blades are like butter on every ball strike. That feeling gives me more confidence in my shot selection. More of a mental thing but attributed to the clubs.
  18. I have had the opposite experience with Berkley rebates. I didn't get mine from last year's Classic until September! The biggest problem is I throw pit bosses like crazy.
  19. My next 1911 will be an STI.
  20. Screw that, it's back to Da Bears for him!

Personally, I would go with a .357 model. The beauty of this is it is a two caliber gun in one form factor (38/.357). I am more of a Smith guy but I really liked the Ruger SP101 when I played with it in the store. If you require a laser, they make grips for it as well.

  23. Basspro is a few weeks might have their brand on sale.
