Noo, wait till that first surprise strike.. It won't just be the fish that's hooked, it will be you as well, in other words it's a blast pulling them out of hydrilla!

My Knot Failed?
Um, I'm not so sure this is anything more than normal break offs, I mean, these things do occur you know.. If it were occurring a high percentage of the time.. Maybe there's another issue, I'm not so sure that's the case here though..

Twisting Handle
I might add, it's not unreasonable for a rod company to request the whole rod back. Some allow the rod to be cut up into some pieces, others say a pic of the receipt & the broken rod is sufficient..

Baitcasting Reels - 6.2 Or 7.4 Ratio For Maximum Versatility?
It's up to you, I use my rod to move my soft plastic Not the reel, I reel up slack as I lower my rod back down.. I believe in your case the bit slower retrieve would fit in better with multiple presentations. I've never felt at a disadvantage using a 6.3:1 or slower reel

When To Flip And Pitch?
In the summer, flipping to me is parking my boat in massive hydrilla fields & going to work.. I always have a big cedar topwater bait rigged too. When the drilla is more sparse I throw the topwater as well.. It's a good way to nail a extra fish or two..pads, pitching that stuff, plus, running a smaller crankbait ( billed or lipless) around edges, and especially where two types of vegetation come togeather.. Of course, having a stable platform on the water is paramount IMO Bank fishing can also be productive, it has it's limitations for obvious reasons..hydrilla can be so thick & seem daunting, but it opens up beautifully underwater.. The thicker the top Mat, the heavier weight you need to penetrate, always, always use the lightest weight possible, you just want to break thru the top. ( heavier than needed weight, serves to bury your bait in the muck) & that is not the deal for catching.. It's pure reaction strike, bait falls in front of fish and bam! It's fast & furious & slow & grueling!

Interesting Observations About Worms And Lizards
I haven't thought about it much in 3 decades, it really doesn't matter though, bass pulverize a plastic worm, grub, crawfish, I've caught them on plastic shrimp bodies, crab bodies etc.. I'm not sure it really matters honestly.. I do believe in the early days, matching the hatch seemed appropriate.. Is it still? I do not know..

Online College Degrees?
Yep, flyfisher, there's truth in that post.. I took courses thru the University of Florida while on a couple of Mediterranean cruises ( Cvn68 ) it was tough, not having a professior around, thankfully there were some helpful & educated CPO's & officers who helped in a couple cases.. With the Internet & community colleges.. I can't think of a bona fide reason to not pursue it...

Texas Rig Work When Fish Active?
Sure.. But if you know they are active, then how did you come to learn this? I fish plastics a lot, but who doesn't love a great crankbait bite? If they are in a horizontal bite, roll with the flow..

Do You Need To Go To Collage?
Definitely go to university.. Get yourself a degree. Fishing careers are elite, ( elite series ) George Cochran owned a appliance store David Fritts a farm ( his father & him ) Thing is, most of these guys had substantial resources before they became pro.. Not all though, Zell Roland stated he never had a normal job, ever.. He started fishing at 15 KVD may be another example, he got started fishing very young as well.
