  1. Hmm, my CTE200GT's are ported on the frame tops.. Along with easy access brake side plate, also a ported spool, which decreases, considerably, the use of 20 co-poly line often the choice of swimbait fisherman. The reels are plenty tough. Line capacity may be a problem.
  2. Gotta Daiwa Ballistic EX on the brain.. 2000 size maybe 2500, maybe a custom build rod for it.. Happy Holidays to you as well...
  3. That's interesting, off the cuff, what era?
  4. Yup, outta a spring fed enviroment, maybe crystal springs? Idk... I know he believed that strongly in the 80's... But I don't think he felt that way before he passed... I'm a huge Hannon fan...

  9. That's what I loved about local here, they had higher end everything, no junk. Even reel repair, custom rod builds/ display .. High end fly rods & reels, he spent 30 years doing it, I spent thousands in there... Miss it too...
  10. Use to... Since BPS came to the area in about 2005, all the great local shops, had to close their doors. Sucks too, they were great, smart, savy fisher people's ... Now there's a cabelas, 4 DSG , and 2 Academy's , academy's are opening in early dec... I see no chance for the great little shops to ever compete around here, not now.

  14. Saros are good reels, I used a 4000 in Florida a couple years ago.. One thing I hate, there's a fair amount of flex in the stem of the reel, great casting, smooth power under load, but that flex drives me nuts. Always felt like it could snap, not the deal for me... I don't like to be distracted by such issues.
  15. My local DSG never has decent reels, or rods for that matter, cheap is cheap no matter where you get it nowadays

  20. Ok, I will man up, yep, spur of the moment trip, with my then 4 & 6 year old. I was taking them to a small park for bluegill fishing, ok.. So I decide better take a loomis CBR & TDX , just so I could throw a bit if need be, 20 mins into the trip, idk why I just happened to look & here he come, conservation officer... Of course after that 1000' walk, he popped the question, I promptly told him I had not aquired it and he proceeded to write a citation, I then asked where Mac was, ( old dog C..O ) he ignored me, handed me a 100$ fine, I gave him a bit of fed back about it( he was a new guy) he said he saw me cast twice... Ok.. Fine , paid the fine & that, believe it or not, was the only time I had ever been without a hunting or fishing license. By the book & no mercy... Lesson learned on a few fronts... Always have paper on you! Always, always , always.....
