Rod Position When Fighting A Fish?
Yea, I see your interest in this, there are fundamental's to it, but for Bass ( freshwater ) it's not overly important, I don't think it's critical, I mean after so long of fishing it's second nature really. Now tuna or tarpon, etc, I'd say it would be, just not for most freshwater fish, most especially Bass Fish. Good question ...

Small Crankbait Rod
What kind of distance are you getting now? What kind of distance are you wanting to achieve? Those Dt4 Balsa are not long bomb baits, I can throw a Dt6 fine, on the 4, not so much, I usually throw the 4 as well as smaller shad raps on spinning.

I Need Help Picking A Baitcasting Reel For $200 Or Under
Curado I, Jdm Scorp, Lots of love for Tatulas & Lews, I believe you should study braking systems and see what appeals to you & handle as many as possible before you decide, ideally if you have a diverse dealership around, you could possibly even mount these reels helping you to further isolate your choice.

All-Around Spinning Rod Help...
You could still use a medium heavy spinning rod with a proper tip for casting, and beware cause all makers ratings are diff. My Falcons are good sticks however @ their MH rating? Nope, more medium for sure. I did use mh & m power rods in central fl. No sweat! I would prefer a bit stronger rod though, Croix seems to bit more powerful than their rod ratings indicate.

12 Pound Sufix Siege Digging Into Itself
What is your cast to hookset ratio? What I'm suggesting is if you are tossing a wacky or a trig plastic worm, it could just be that after multiple reel- ins your line has softly been respooled, then bam! You jerk and get line dig in... It happens. It's just a guess though.
