  1. I'm not trying to be smart, but are you going to fish standing on a 5 gallon bucket? Practice from the ground.. It's a learned technique.
  2. It's a learned act, I do it a lot from the bank, with a 7'5" rod, ( pitch ) but I have been doing it a long, long time, it's going to just take trial & error. After a while its just instinctive, roll casting is a pretty effective method too. Bank fishing requires multiple casting techniques, IMO. Continue to practice, a 6'6" is all you need. Practice!
  3. Trick worms 1st. Senkos 2nd. Fluke Sticks 3rd
  4. Hello Craig, Welcome to BR, Enjoy the forums & abundant information.
  5. Better break down than TT, nice work, for sure!
  6. Sweet, those are good bearings. 50' pretty good for that worm & hook combo!
  7. I use ball heads w/ bucktail in rocky areas just fine, also w/ nylon weedguards, they aren't a death sentence by no means, no deeper than 24' and mostly less, now if I fish the Devonian Beds at Falls of the Ohio, you can expect to loose 20 a day.. But on freshwater impoundments, I don't loose them anymore than any other style jig head..fishing from a boat is different than shore fishing.
  8. Maybe, are there pines in your area? What's the temp. At your location? You can put a rotten fish in the freezer and it won't smell... When it's really cold, ( gun season ) I don't bother with scents, depends on the weather patterns each year to, I killed one big 11 pointer 240 field dressed that I know scent played a role. It was a mild nov. and I had been using doe in heat to freshen a scrap he made , on my way out. Third day he came in nose down and bam... Scent rags, bandannas or old t shirts work, I have been dragging a scent trail and been followed ( before daylight ) which is a little worrisome ( and was ) it can help though.. Depending...
  9. Sorta looks like a Duck Billed Platypus, idk..
  10. Check out your Local Land Surveyor, or the county surveyor's office... There's a treasure trove of info avail. Like Catt said... I know, I surveyed Clark co, for years...these maps can also divulge hidden areas of public land for hunting opportunity's as well as other legal matters.
  11. The "I" is a long casting reel, it also makes use of bearings where they are most important. On side plate closure issue, there are 2 guide pins on the reel and they must both be properly lined up, closes easy then. It's sounds like you gave up pretty quick to me. To bad, they are excellent reels.
  12. Nice read by Nixon , he was my favorite tournament angler thru the 80's, great guy!
  13. 6' just boggles my mind..
  14. Yea, I have long maintained color matters, at times, it's all the difference. I don't use, nor ever have, light meters in fishing, only photography.
  15. 6th sense flat, plus as said the Spro is worth the money! I haven't tryed the 6th sense yet, but a couple of great fisherman on here I won't say ajay's name or 00mods name, lol.. Like them really well and have done well.. They can be tough to find, as I found out.
  16. Lighter weights w/ easy hook change out sounds sweet, of course adding a skirt would be nice, but not necessary, but nice!
  17. Yep, I thought the same thing.. Only differently, lol Seems like a New Rod company & starting New, would be a better option, went to the site, checked it out, very limited info on exact details, on blank construction, exact guide manufactors , oh, and same crappy hook keeper, doesn't seem very new to me, check out the warranty aspect, a bit improved there, while reserving the right to still request a full rod ship back @ $40+ ... No disrespect meant to Carrotstix, However, seems like double talk to me too.
  18. Yum, fat chicks in camo...
  19. Will this new carrotstix co. honor older carrotstix rods? ( Warranty )
  20. Original Kistler Helium Lta... 7' medium/ fast... Bought 10 years ago, used hard and just keeps trucking, love it.. Close is my 7' avid ml/ f... It's really sweet too..
  21. It would be dishonest to take it to any dealer to obtain store credit, etc.. Unless, the rod company's warranty explicitly states, and if retailer agrees to such.... Since it was sent to you by Abu, via mail, sell it locally
  22. That's a great price on that rod, as far as color changes, BPS, always, follows color trends on reels, rods, that's just the way it's been for a long time, personally I dislike white rods, orange rods, yellow rods ( not lamiglas ) .. Rant over...
  23. What do you recommend ? Also where can I obtain high Quailty bucktail jigs? ( custom )
