Can't Pitch/flip?
What reel? What line? What are you trying to pitch? There are other factors to consider that may help narrow down a potential issue as well, You should most definitely be able to pitch, albeit even backlash results... Give a bit more info, and it's Likely you will glean even more helpful feedback , I am not trying to bust you're chops here, but I just can't imagine why you're having trouble pitching or flipping.. What rod?

Jigs For Smallies
I like 1/4 round head, hair ( deer ) jigs, in orange/brown & green/ black... Plus they work well on LMB as well.. I use to use bigger Roadrunners too.. Hair jigs 1/2 and could stick quite a few stripers on Cumberland.. They are great baits for a variety of fish, truthfully.

How Much More Resistant To Teeth Is Fc Vs Braid?
I guess for squarebills, seems to me like 15 CXX.. Should help you save you're baits... I have had but a few cut offs in Florida from gator gar, plus it's much cheaper and better than a steel/ titanium leader, ...for sure a few ways to go.. Seaguars leader material is good stuff as well..

Where Has It Been?
What WRB said, I mean there is offshore structure... If you're catching Bass offshore, there's a very good reason they are there.

Bass Won't Bite
Tom is exactly right, stealth is essential to be able to have a chance at those Bass, in those water types... Back off the edge, make long quiet casts and that will increase you're odds considerable

Placing First Order With Siebert Jigs This Evening. Any Must Have Jigs Or Colors?
Down there, ( Florida ) I prefer a light jig, unless, you are just focused on a true flip/ pitch bite ..so much silt.. Rigs will sink in pretty quick... I never really used a jig in freshwater when I was there, but jigs are better shaped, better hooks and better made for that work.. However, the silt hasn't changed.. I am not saying you can't find spots with harder bottom, but for me, I rig other ways than the typical flip jig, rather than a shallow crankbait like around lily pads, opt For a swim jig in those areas too.., The punch rig, is a great way to fish those hydrilla infested areas. I fish hair jigs around here in Spring, Fall & Winter but honestly, I would not even consider it in Florida freshwater.. ( Salt, Yes ) good luck! I suspect you will be putting some great fish in the boat or dragging them to the bank.
