Yep, you can get different size weights , pre- dressed w/ skirts.. I have used them lots of ways.. But I like tungsten, I have not seen them in lead, maybe someone else makes a lead rig, idk.. My tungsten jigs work fine for cast and retrieve work, I put a big craw on and they are always right side up... I have used Havoc grass pigs on the punch rig and swam it in and thru grass, they are versatile , and about the same $ as a good crank-bait....

C&G, have you tried a PunchRig from Siebert's? On swim jigs, I like to fish those around more open water/ in and thru brush/ rocks with a big hammer swim tail or a properly sized curl tail grub As far as Hydrilla, well, I have punch jigs too.. But for flipping in soft, heavy to moderate cover, try a PunchRig.. That is my advice...they would be ideal for you're water, pin a big ole lobster on it and catch big fish..

Having lived in Central Florida for 10 years, chasing LMB , that is where I learned how to truly grind it out, by flipping... Pitching and topwaters, much of the information I learned was study of Doug Hannons work, Teaching my Son, how to cast a high performance baitcaster, and, how to fish a jig at 10 years old, he is quite proficient with it, and he truly loves the sport, that makes me quite joyous to have passed to him some of what I learned.. Time on the water, will teach him the most...

Those pics look like fine catches to me.... Yea, the whole lizard thing, well, how bout I say it this way... If you catch them on it, if its you're confidence bait, by all means fish it, because color matters to me ( confidence ) based on years of use, not sure really if it matters to Bass...

A lot of good answers, I might add using a swimming hornet / under spins ... I like the saltwater ones with 5/0 Gammys... It's another option that works....

Stradic's are very good reels, have you entertained a 1000? At any rate , I believe the shimano to be superior, if you can mount the reel to the chosen rod... That would be ideal too... Good luck on deciding...

Cool pictures Guys! I don't have one... But, I caught a 4" FLMB on a 6" golden shiner in the St. John's river... No hook needed. It ( shiner) was stuck in the basses mouth... I couldn't believe it...

It's been tough for me to find, my Bps.. Stock slowed down a couple years ago, last fall.. No more at all. Idk what to think at this point..I still have some, time to place a order I do believe..

Blackwater Cedar baits, as well as Rapala Balsa large topwater minnow baits....

I don't see how a true walking the dog bait can have it's action affected by upsizing the hooks. The Action, at least the way I fish them is Wholly dependent on the rod/ reel action.. If it were, say a large balsa topwater rapala, I could see that argument, hook tangles are more problematic but not impeding action, it doesn't, nor ever has for me... Go with the strongest treble you can find, for musky/ braid use..

I guess I am a nerd... I crash mine into anything, bounce of wood, and I love to bang, clang on rocks, riprap etc...caught a bunch off rocks, less off wood... I would rather run traps above & along weed tops/ edges... Other than that... I will use other baits..

The bigger jig trailer might work, but that lake you fish reminds me a lot of loochloossa except you got no big bass... Kidding, geez... Let you're big worm strikes run longer, 5 to 10 seconds.. Let them it eat it good... Another thing, try powerbait, they have 12" ribbon tales and 10" as well.. Just a suggestion, I hope you have better success.

I don't think loomis has sold just blanks for rod building in a very long time, my rod builder of past told me that ... It may not be accurate, but I have no reason to doubt him.. A wood handle? You may like it, but idk... Maybe, hopefully some other builders, or guys currently in the know, will chime in...
