  1. I intend to pick up one as well as 2 of the new curados. Tatula appears to be a very good reel!
  2. Geez... I am going to have to be there before open! They always sell out so fast. Guess I will buy two and lookem over at home! Where it's safe! I know I will send my son in! Ha! Wait... That won't work.... He likes quantum smokes... He would buy them too.... Then ole dad would have to teach him yet, another hard lesson.
  3. Wonder if shimano will participate in BPS reel trade in program this year???

  11. That's a really nice looking reel!!!
  12. Yes... A extra bearing in support of the pinion would indicate to me that more Torque is going to be available..thanks for clarifying that... It's crystal clear to me now.. If the fresh/ light salt reels continue with large gear sets then shouldn't be a issue.... But nevertheless like I said.... Many people say the power and torque has diminished...I would interested in hearing from folks who have on the water experience
  13. Is this new gearing going to be as powerful as HEG ? I have a mixed bag of opinions all on calcutta D series . Seems many say the raw power that the TE series reels had, has been lost these are big fish guys... Musky.. Stripers and also saltwater guys. So who can speak for this? Not all change in design is successful . Shimano is making a lot of change quickly. I know that this engineering has been in the Jdm market and some folks in USA have used it, have you used this xship on baitcast ? Is it as powerful? I am not asking about smoothness, but true torque and power. Anyone?
  14. I know some guys on this forum are using it now, what are the true benefits of this new braking method ? How durable will it be? Is it truly superior to VBS ? If so, why?
  15. Powell rods are very good. Yes I had a 765 rated to 1 1/2 oz but it was better suited at 3/4 oz very sensitive.. Slightly tip heavy... Gary Dobyns worked for Powell and has been in china a lot ! He formed his company and his rods must be incredible . That's all you read about are Dobyns so they have to be that good... I would lean to Dobyns line.. Just because they have so much to offer.. Great momentum behind his company. By the way , I don't think you would be dissatisfied with a Powell endurance ! And yes a tatula would be a awesome reel for it . Happy fishing
  16. Let me add... I cannot for sure remember it may have been ci4.... Ci4+ was quickly introduced afterwards , also I love Shimano's reels but just not the ci4 material.
  17. About spinning reels... The statement I will make is on shimanos... Last spring I bought a Saros 4000 and really loved the spec. Sheet on it... But after spooling it up and fishing light salt in Florida .. On a trip... Frame flex was pretty bad.. That's Ci4+ and I don't like it..(ci4+) at least on the 4000 size... A 1500 I would think you wouldn't notice. Returned mine... Got a magnesium framed reel and put 65$ back in my wallet to boot . That was a pfluger and I never ever owned one before and it has been flawless.. I mean some pretty hard use too. I wish you luck on you're search, you don't always have to spend bank on fishing equipment ! Good luck and as always, Happy fishing
  18. Loomis CBR... Mine were all bought in 99 and I bought 2 loomis rods last year... You can feel a earthquake in China with them.. Pricey though
  19. Ugly.. Just not stylish and well forget the rest. My opinion only!
  20. Thanks guys.. These forums are a lot of fun, with a lot of knowledge to boot! Happy fishing!
  21. Enlarged photo... Pretty sure it's metal star drag is back , also brake side is swollen substantial for the new braking system . Well just a guess but I think our E series reels may have just devalued ... Just a bit! Except our 300e's
  22. That's a very nice looking reel... First I have seen I knew the partial spec. Sheet but do not not if it's aluminum framed or ci4+ ? I bet aluminum !
  23. I did read that the Core was going to be discontinued. I do not have one.. I may grab one But i will wait and see what the new curado is like first
  24. Ok..... I will say this I never liked Shimano reels. Long time Diawa guy and lews.... When Shimano brought HEG To freshwater baitcasters I bought a 200d 5.1 and was blown away. Unloaded all my reels and have used Shimano ever since. It really was the best 200.00$ reel I ever bought I have many Shimanos now and will stand by this company... For me this speculation.. It's just fun.. That's all just good ole fun!
  25. Ok so.... You know for fun...just guessing ....what's you're guess on price? Just for fun!
