  1. I have and use tungston from 1/16 to 1 1/2 oz Use the lightest you can... Stay within you're rods rating.... Unless you know better! Plan on a heavier action rod for heavier bullets / jigs 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 will work real well for you right now Catch fish!
  2. Lizards.... Hate em... Serious I would rather throw rocks at bass then a lizard! A-rig.... That's just stupid... That's all!!
  3. I used my HG yesterday and it's special.... I like it better than E series... I really liked E and D really well though! I really want a hawgtech handle for it Geez... I am so broke...! This shimano cast farther and with less effort as well as pitching supremely ! Drag super smooth & stout What a great reel at a great price!
  4. Sure if its only the wiggle wart , but op states it is also strike king baits running wacky...that's kinda odd... Throw in 2 new crankbait rods and you can see where I was going... Nice catch! .. On the wart...
  5. Good pics guys! However... The bass in my state have a purple belly with emerald flake/ 194j w red and blue flake! Just playin!!
  6. Gor-tex is good I have a browning mossy oak shadow grass parka and pants... It's awesome stuff.. It was very pricey! But it's been used every year for 15 years . It's still like new!
  7. Well... Imx of course! Now I do have one 7'11" rage heavy... It's perfect... I looked at this rod for a year... Before I ran across a perfect rage @ 119$ I like it ok.... But Imx any day of the week, and twice on Sunday....
  8. Have you got other cranks you can try? Put on a dt 10 ... I am about ready to destroy that wiggle wart for ya! I feel you're frustration.. I still don't believe it's a rod problem.. And now with a different reel same thing... How about the 7'9" ? Is it good?
  9. Op states it's a winch... So I didn't suspect a over speed problem... I assume it is possible, however. Let us know.. I am really curious now!
  10. Hummmm... Double check you're line.. Making sure it's threaded right.. Check all ur guides inserts ... It almost just sounds like you're becoming fouled in some manner... If it was just the one bait.. Yea it's outta tune, but multiple baits?... Yea that's hard to figure.. Check you're reels line guide too.. Have you changed hook size? Using a swivel? Double check everything..
  11. Well... This topic has been nailed down pretty good..... Sooo.... Next
  12. Well honestly .... I still use deer hair tyed 1/4 oz jigs for the cold water... Then switch to silicone for the rest of the year. I haven't used rubber in a long, long time... But I use to fish rubber years ago and got bit. Rubber won't last real long.. It didn't for me anyways... Happy fishing
  13. I use a mh/ f... For squarebills too...I have 0 issues .. Though I know this time of year , a lot of folks can use a medium/ moderate...it sounds like you are doing just fine! St. Croix is a fine company .. You're rod choice is solid. I don't care for 100% glass.. But that's me... Just me.. Other crankbaiters like it real well. Maybe try a glass rod? You may be pleasantly surprised.... Happy fishing!
  14. Yes sir ! X2 here
  15. I have several gl2 rods (casting) imx... Also avid spinning... I do not like the hump reel seat on avids casting ... The gl2 rods I have.... Are the most comfortable split grip rod handles I have ever used... Also plenty sensitive.. Guide train is strong and old timey... But does the job with honor...I got mine used/ same as new and couldn't be happier they are way strong.... Look at the new imx... It's sweet Good luck
  16. Enjoy the forums!
  17. Those reels are amazing! I really like the shimano! I really don't care for gold... Like ever.. But it really looks so very good on that reel! Seriously good!
  18. You can't repair that rod with any positive results Try and return it to a different Walmart If no joy..... Return it ! Or.... Send it to Abu... Explain it truthfully ... And you will be rewarded.
  19. Hard to find now but... Have nailed some real good fish off duck blinds ... Bridge/riprap... My # 1 is Hydrilla blankets followed by lily pads...

Super nice LM! I am impressed in the fact they were caught so far north .. Welcome and enjoy the forums!! Nice pics!
  21. Loomis gl2...imx... St. Croix Avids... Kistler..original Lta Helium.... Also I have one *** heavy/ fast and I have really been surprised by it...these all are very dependable rods for me... Nothing fancy.. But they flat out get it done for me. I have others but won't mention those.. I don't believe they are worth it
  22. Yep... That's the model that shimano started legal action againstDue to patent infringement !! They were slick reels but were not around long Shimano vbs would work (brake weights) maybe? Good luck bmac31!
