  1. I don’t much care for this AI
  2. I know you said you’ve already tried the SK TG spinnerbait. That is the only one I throw. I’ve caught hundreds of fish, thousands of casts, and I’ve only had one break. I emailed SK and had two new ones in my mailbox. For whatever that’s worth.
  3. I assume it’s a carp like the last 100 times and I ignore it.
  4. We share a lot of baits of no confidence, Bazoo. I think you should make it a point to throw the spinnerbait more. It’s an easy bait to fish and learn. There was a time when I had zero confidence in a spinnerbait, couldn’t even imagine catching a bass on it. Shared a boat with someone who only threw a spinnerbait and watched him catch smallie after smallie. After I witnessed that I made sure I threw it more often. 10 years later, the spinnerbait is without a doubt my #1 confidence bait. Size, numbers, any water temp, any conditions.
  5. My first use of a soft plastic craw was a “craw worm” that I would always steal from my dad’s tackle box. It was a plastic craw that was basically a finesse worm’s body with claws and antennae. Haven’t seen them in over 20 years but I can picture it clear as day. These days I throw Rage Craws and Baby Craws, as well as NetBait Paca Craws.
  6. Dang man that sucks. Wishing your family the best.
  7. Larger diameter line = more surface area. More surface area = more friction. More friction results in shorter casts. All else equal, the line with the smaller diameter will cast further.
  8. I think it’s less about technique and more about being able to consistently locate active fish in any season on any body of water.
  9. I do similar to @scaleface. I set up a little phone tripod as soon as my boat is floating. My phone goes in there right away, and when I catch a worthy fish, it takes 5 seconds to open the phones camera and set a 3 second timer. Perfect system for fishing alone.
  10. This time of year, the milfoil around here has already starting to die off, regardless of temperature. When this happens, I target pondweed instead, mainly the broadleaf, largeleaf, or curly leaf varieties. It stays green into October, and fish stack up in it.
  11. Either “there we go”, “there’s one”, or “fish on”
  12. My 15.5 year old dog takes Cosequin once a day. It seems to really help her. She has arthritis in both her back legs and some days she gets around better than others. It helps that she readily eats the pill, unlike some other medicines that have to force fed.
  13. I didn’t grow up fishing bass specifically. I learned from my father as soon as I was old enough to hold a kiddie pole. We would wade streams for brook trout, fish live bait for pike in the big lakes, fish in park ponds with Texas rigs, take charters on the Great Lakes for salmon, troll for walleye in the river. That’s how I fished until I got my own boat when I was around 22 or 23. When I would take my boat oht, I found myself wanting to fish for bass more and more. Something about catching a big ol bucketmouth really captivated me. Much more than any other types of fishing. So for the last decade, I’ve leaned heavily into bass fishing. I still do other types of fishing occasionally, but I’m a bass fisherman through and through.
  14. @Pat Brown summed it up perfectly.
  15. In my experience, bad idea. It’s a guaranteed headache.
  16. Are you adding a stinger to the crankbait?
  17. I got got by Berkley with Vanish years ago. It was so bad that I’ll never give Berkley another chance with fluorocarbon. Still use XL and Big Game mono though.

Unsure of exactly what you mean due to the typos, but what I gather is your asking if a Ned rig gets covered in grass on the bottom, will a fish still hit it? The answer to that is I’m not sure. In theory they absolutely should because that’s where the real critters live-in the grass. But I can’t recall ever having a fish eat a bait that was covered in grass. That may be a confidence thing, and it’s anecdotal at best.
  19. This is more than a pet peeve for me. This straight up makes me see red.
  20. With my off hand, no. But I have gotten really good at doing a back hand cast similar to a tennis return. Fishing in a small boat with another person made me have to get good at this if I wanted to put my bait in the right spot.
  21. The same as a my favorite wacky stick. Fenwick Elite 7’ MF spinning. This is for nose-hooked flukes. For weedless rigged I’ll use it on 7’+ MH casting rod.
  22. As somebody with a fair amount of pet peeves, I agree.
  23. Loose water bottles rolling around my truck while I’m driving. Or things rattling or vibrating while driving. Drives me up a wall.
