The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
I confided in my girlfriend the other day that I am completely and hopelessly addicted to water. It’s only getting worse, and I have no plans of stopping.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
@gim I was thinking the same thing. As a tick magnet, I’m hoping this brutally cold winter means a lesser tick season.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
Got about a foot and a half of powder. I can’t remember it snowing with temps so low before, but at least the snow is very powdery and light. Supposed to get an inch or two more today, and temps continue to hover around 0°. My ice-out prediction moves back a little bit with the cold-snap that doesn’t want to break. If I’m fishing by the 3rd week of April I’ll be happy.

Would you claim a state/world record if it ment blowing up your local lake/river spot?
Nope.

Let's see your art!
When my girlfriend and I moved into our home, she started decorating the walls with all kinds of stuff that she knew I didn’t care about. So one day I came home and these were hanging up.

Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
@HawkeyeSmallie when I to Lake Baccarac Lodge in 2017, between commercial airfare from Albany, NY to Los Mochis, the cost of the lodge itself, and tipping of the guide and lodge staff, I estimate I spent around $3500 total for 3 days of fishing. Add in a couple hundred more for a couple articles of clothing and a little bit of tackle that I needed to stock up on. Obviously that cost will be significantly higher today as prices of everything continue to get ridonkulous, and it’s been a while since I’ve priced out a trip.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
Biggest snow of the season heading my way this weekend. Calling for at least a foot, followed by several days of single digit highs and negative lows. In the thick of it now.

What are the most extreme conditions you've ever fished in?
In a lightning storm with somebody who told me I was overreacting when told him we gotta head back to the dock 20 minutes ago. Thick bolts were peppering the ground every 5 seconds. Obviously I don’t fish with him anymore.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
Been coming down pretty good all day today. Several inches so far. Everything had been such a muddy mess that a nice fresh coating of snow will help things not look so unsightly, including my floors from dog paws.

Welcome to the “New” Forums!
@Glenn i don’t want to come off as complaining, because I’m not, and I appreciate all the work and effort this upgrade took and am a fan overall. But I figured you’d probably want to know about any and all bugs since the new update and I haven’t seen this one mentioned. Im typically a mobile user and it’s been working perfectly. But I just attempted to login on desktop, Google Chrome specifically, and the “Existing User? Sign-In” as well as the search bar in the upper right hand corner don’t seem to be working, preventing me from signing in. I did clear my cache a couple times as well.

oversized Rapala crankbait - suggestions how to hang on wall
I wanna hang one of this in my foyer just to see the look on my girlfriend’s face. That, and a fish mailbox!

Do you want the latest greatest?
I like this perspective. However, sometimes it’s more fun to eat with my Darth Vader fork than it is a regular fork 🤓

Do you want the latest greatest?
I can appreciate the technology advancements and the looks of the some of the “latest and greatest”, but since it’s often out of my budget, and in some cases totally silly or nothing but marketing, the latest and greatest rarely find their way into my arsenal.

Suggestions on Line up
In my opinion, the only time a reel can be too fast is when using a bait that is worked by the reel rather than the rod. So my answer is an 8 speed reel would be ideal for these applications.

Social Media: Have we come full circle?
I’ve never done the social media thing. If this is considered social media, it’s the only social media platform I am a part of. Im generally not a social person so to be on social media just to socialize with strangers is the opposite of a good time to me. Throw in politics, keyboard badasses, and now AI slop, social media seems like it was designed specifically as a Jar11591 repellant. But when I first came across BR some 15 years ago, I immediately joined and felt like it was where I belonged. And Glenn and the mods have kept this place up perfectly. This site and community is such a diamond in all the poop.

Suggestions on Line up
I would use the MHMF for your spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, the MF for the whopper plopper, and the MHF for the lipless and T-rig. If the other baits are introduced, I’d throw the Jerkbait on the MF, C-rig and buzzbait on the MHF. That’s just me.

Line for Panfish on Spinning Gear
4lb Yo-Zuri hybrid is what I use. It’s extremely manageable and affordable.

What do you consider your most productive old time lure?
Spinnerbait

If you suddenly flipped how you catch fish, how do you think you'd do?
Because I fish quiet, natural, crystal clear mountain lakes, I’d say my flip fishing would be crowded, dingy, manmade, urban reservoirs. While I am confident in my fishing abilities enough to know that I could catch a bass out of a puddle if I needed, I do know that regardless of results, I wouldn’t enjoy myself as much. Pulling 4-6lb bass out of a quiet mountain lake while nobody else is around is about the pinnacle of happiness for me.

What's for dinner?
Some ideas…fancy grilled cheese with either some shaved ribeye or prosciutto. Pizza pockets where you just fill some puff pastry with sauce and mozzarella. Pineapple fried rice, falafel gyro, chicken curry, chicken cordon bleu, taco casserole. All fairly easy and I would think most kids would eat. Another option is French toast or pancakes with an omelette and some fruit, breakfast for dinner is always fun to mix it up.

Staying warm
UnderArmor base layer, Carhartt flannel mid-layer, and Cabela’s Guidewear as the outer layer. Carhartt beanie on my head and hand warmers tucked into the back of my gloves. And a Yeti thermos of hot coffee goes a long way.
