  1. I’d probably end up overboard. I was fishing a calm cove, it was dead silent, and I was completely locked in and focused until “WHAM!”. I’ll confess to the words I called it in the profanity thread ?
  2. My girlfriend won’t come fishing with me. She says she doesn’t like the fact that I’m “tricking the fish”. That’s fine with me though. Fishing is “my time”.
  3. Hard to complain, despite the lack of wildlife of the micropterus variety. Had the lake to myself again, even until noon. Whenever I go fishing at this particular mountain lake, I tell my girlfriend “I’m going to my favorite place in the world”.
  4. If I’m hammering them on a certain bait, I’m gonna continue to use that bait until I’m not hammerin’ them on that bait anymore!
  5. ? “well the sun is just starting to climb up over the tree tops, and it’s gonna be a beautiful day that’s plain to see” ?
  6. Little guy with a big tail munched the jig: Tough morning. Air temp was 28° when I launched. Warmed up to 65° by the time I left. Few small fish here and there, including my first topwater fish of the year; a 12” on a PopX. Only saw a couple shallow cruisers. Not the day I was expecting but even during prespawn bass can be unpredictable. The first couple weeks of fishing were incredible, with excellent quality and quantity, but the last two weeks there’s been an unseasonable lull. Still a little early for true pre spawn action compared to years past though. Did see a ton of wildlife though. A bald eagle, two foxes, a deer, a mink, a blue heron, my loon pals, and a beaver that scared the beard right off my face after he snuck up on me and smashed his tail on the surface 20 yards from my boat.
  7. Most of the water I fish is fairly clear. Im much more at home fishing a clear hard bottom lake than a murky one.
  8. At this point isn’t every bait a rip off of another bait? Is every crankbait on the market a rip off of the original crankbait? Is every ribbon tail worm a ripoff of the original worm? How long does something have to be on the market before it’s no longer considered a rip off? Is every hamburger restaurant a rip off because they didn’t invent the hamburger?
  9. Hey C & G welcome back
  10. The brush jig is my all purpose jig. I mainly throw it in timber but it does well coming through grass as well, and good for dragging. If I could only fish 1 type of jig it would definitely be the brush jig.
  11. Dude. I thought I was the only one. Had a tick on the junk last summer. I laughed so hard I cried when I discovered it in the middle of the night. My girlfriend almost passed out helping me remove it, while I was laughing too hard to do anything.
  12. If I was buying a new reel and that was my budget, I’d be going with the Lews Custom Lite SS that I’ve been eyeballing for a while.
  13. Yep. And even if they’re not as budget friendly anymore, they’re still on of the best weedless frogs IMO, and definitely the softest and most collapsible that I’ve tried.
  14. Was a well played series. Last 2 could have went either way. You guys got to Atlanta’s best 2 starters better than most other teams.
  15. 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1.5
  16. Weed barrier down, garden beds built. Next is putting gopher netting in the bottom of the beds, and filling the beds with compost/soil.
  17. My back will have a couple days rest before I have to move the stone Your grass is coming in well. You must have quite the lead clean up in the fall with all those trees back there!
  18. Update on the project. Finally level enough after 12 yards of dirt. Was way off with my original estimate of 5 yards but my girlfriend kept “finding” other spots that need leveling haha Tomorrow I’ll be laying the weed barrier fabric, and installing the raised beds then getting all of our sprouts planted. Next week will be about 6 yards of pea gravel for the picnic area, and 8 or so yards of natural wood chip to go around the garden beds and shed.
  19. Awesome bronzebacks Dwight. Some nice color on them too.
  20. Calm, cloudy and warmish day, and I went up to my favorite lake. Fish are still in a funk. Water temps still way lower than they were 2 weeks ago, 52-54°. I spent a lot of time pitching wood, but never able to get much going. This was the best fish at 3-9: Pitching the Siebert brush jig and Paca chunk into timber and watched her shoot out and inhale the jig as soon as it hit the water. Unexpected downpour chased me off the lake because I didn’t bring my rain gear so I wasn’t able to hit all my spots. Probably could have put something together had I been prepared for rain. I got to say hi to my loon friends, saw hundreds of rainbow trout gobbling bugs, with several of them going completely airborne, a bald eagle, and had the lake to myself.
  21. Haven’t seen anything posted about this yet, hopefully not a repost. https://www.beaumontenterprise.com/txoutdoors/article/lady-angler-submits-world-record-bass-texas-lake-17925758.php
  22. I use a lot of profanity. Don’t really think about it usually. But I know when to clean up my vocab. Like I try not to cuss in front of my mother.
