something mysterious is killing my brother's dog.
That’s sad, and scary. Hope they figure out what’s going on and get Brady back to normal.

Baseball
Talk was that he would get more. I’m a little surprised they didn’t front-load the contract considering he’s over 30, but to be fair he is coming off of one of the best non-PED-assisted offensive seasons in history. His best season could very realistically be behind him though. To me this seems like the A-Rod thing all over again. 40 home runs, near .300 BA and 100+ ribbies became not good enough for Yankee fans.

What makes you choose a body of water to fish?
Several factors go into how I choose a place to fish. Public launch and proximity to my home are the first two. Other factors can make the proximity less important. Depth, observable structure, cover or bait (be it visually or on a contour map), general intrigue, and word of mouth can all make me try a body of water too. But besides public access the most important factor is probably past results. Why do I choose to fish my favorite lake more than any other lake? Because I believe it gives me the best chances of having a good day on the water. My domestic PB came from this lake, and I’ve never been skunked on it. Perfect combination of size and numbers. It has great fish habitat, is deep, has a thriving ecosystem, and an easy public launch, but it’s the great fishing that makes it my favorite lake.

How do you slow down?
Mindfulness. For me it has to be a conscious effort. I have to think about what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. After a little while I’ll get into a slow rhythm where I don’t have to think about it as much but it’s definitely a “zone” I have to get into by being mindful.

Altercation with neighbor
Sadly I feel the same way. Maybe it’s cynical but accepting it helps my own sanity I think. I do lawn care and landscaping, mainly on residential streets with lots of houses in close proximity. With some people it’s very clear that their only hobby is starting trouble with their neighbors or people who are working there. I always love when a customer “warns” me of their neighbor before I show up to mow a lawn. Has to be a rather sad existence to sit and wait for non-issues to start fights with neighbors. Living in residential areas, there are things that you just have to accept and deal with. Barking dogs are one of the easier things on the list of “things you have to accept when living in close proximity to people”. Mike at the end the day, this guy will probably continue to stew in his own anger, while you’ll be on the lake catching bass with a smile on your face. Actually I’ve seen your fish pics, maybe you won’t be smiling but you know what I mean ?

Pros fishing your honey holes
I would love to see how pros would fare on a few of my honey holes. Especially because how inaccurate contour maps for some of my lakes can be.

- What do you drive?
Dodge Dakota is what I drive. Rods go in the boat during transport.- You have any MUST-SEE holiday movies?
Elf, Home Alone, and after having just watched the Star Wars Holiday Special, I have to put that in the “must watch” category. Entertaining is an understatement.- Jerkbait under $16?
Rapala X-Rap- Landing nets
Getting my net’s handle extended and within arms reach is the first thing I do after launching my boat. Most bass 12”+ get netted. I use a rubber mesh net with a telescopic handle.- Cooking/Baking Thread

Whenever I see @T-Billy‘s name come up on the Other Species Catch thread I know I’m about to see a big muskie.- have you figured out your Significant Other's Christmas gift?
We put a strict price limit on ourselves this year because we’re saving for a big vacation next summer. I got her a little zen garden for her home office. I’m not completely sure, but I think she got me a framed photo of me with a good fish from this year.- My Problem With YouTube Fishing Videos...
Exactly why I like and appreciate his videos!- My Problem With YouTube Fishing Videos...
I don’t make videos, but I like the idea of filming my fishing just for me to be able to watch it and relive some moments. I watch a lot of fishing content, and the one quality that I am drawn to above all is passion. If the creator clearly has a passion for fishing and expresses it. Nothing brings out child-like joy for me like fishing, so I love to see it from others in videos I watch. If the film creator has a clear passion for fishing, I can overlook other things. Things I don’t like are gimmicky stuff (like fishing with Barbie or scooby doo combos and such). To me it just shows you’re bored with fishing. Not interested. Also don’t love click-bait titles, but that seems to be the norm these days. One thing I understand is the product pushing. I get it. It’s what makes well produced fishing videos possible for the most part. So I don’t hate on that. I take it with a grain of salt, just like any other advertisement.- What technique or lure do you want to do more?
Exactly what I was thinking!- School me on braid to leader
I use 40lb braid to 20lb fluoro leader for Texas rigs and jigs in light to moderate cover, rocks, and wood because the clear waters I fish are filled with sharp rocks and toothy esox. The 20lb fluoro gives me great abrasion and bite off resistance. I’ve never had a pike or pickerel bite through heavy fluoro, but they saw through braid like a razor blade. For spinnerbaits I go 30lb or 40lb braid with a 20lb fluoro leader. The braid’s no-stretch qualities give me great hooksets on long casts, and it just performs great as a main line on casting gear. I use the fluoro leader because when using braid with spinnerbaits, especially on windy days, the line can wrap around the blades and shaft on the cast. The stiffness of the leader reduces this. For weedless frogs, and pitching plastics and jigs to heavy weed cover, I will use straight braid.- At What Temperature Do You Stop Fishing?
32° water temp usually is when I’ll stop. I’ll fish until the ice becomes more than just skim ice.- Anybody Ever Get Caught Without Their License?
Never been caught without my license, because I always have it. I try to be the best sportsman I can be and that means being licensed to fish. Some years I’ve been checked several times, other years nothing at all. Haven’t been checked in over 5 years. Maybe 7 years ago, a buddy and I were fishing in my boat on a lake that only has access at the launch. The rest of the shoreline is heavily wooded. We heard something rustling in the woods while fishing a cove, but we assumed it was a deer. A couple minutes later we hear “excuse me!”, and we look over to see a DEC officer on the shoreline having just come out of the thick woods. He had binoculars, and asked us to hold up our licenses and safety equipment. We were all square, but very surprised to see the officer just come out of the thick woods like that. Must have had over a mile walk through the thick stuff, just to get to us in that cove. I’ve also been approached and checked by DEC officers on jet skis.- Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I have the President XT 7:1 as well and a Supreme XT 7:1. Both joys to fish with. For a reel <$100 I don’t think the President XT can be beat.- Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)

With my lakes having ice cover, my bass season is officially over for 2022. To console myself I did a little TW order.- Music streaming pandora vs Spotify
I didn’t know iTunes was still a thing. I use Amazon Music for all music and podcast streaming.- Holiday lights/decor
Thanksgiving is what really kicks off the holiday season in my eyes, so christmas lights usually start going up right after thanksgiving. Which means my girlfriend already has my day planned out for me today. - What do you drive?
