  1. Great looking fish and beautiful scenery. Looks like a great trip.
  2. ‘The society that separates its scholars from its warriors is liable to have its thinking done by cowards and it’s fighting done by fools.’
  3. Gnarly scar, he looks like he was almost something’s meal.
  4. A lot of people don’t realize that they don’t even own the water underneath their docks, let alone the space around them.
  5. @Darth-Baiter and @TnRiver46 are there hooks on the spinnerbaits y’all are throwing? ? But seriously, a trailer hook may help hook fish that don’t otherwise make contact with the bait. Helps short strikers that you may not even know were swiping at it. All it takes is a fish or two to build some confidence and then you’ll always have one tied on! I used to feel the same way, but the last 6-7 years, I literally can’t imagine being on my boat with out my dedicated spinnerbait rig. When the sun comes up and the water gets choppy, I’m slinging that thing until I need a Tommy John.
  6. I mostly agree with this. It may not have been broken, but if it has I think there is a high probability it was released immediately. If I caught a record sized bass, be it state record, world record, largemouth or smallmouth, there is a 100% chance that my priority will be getting the fish back in the water to swim another day, not some record that will put me and my lake in the public eye, and result in the death of a giant fish.
  7. Siebert Outdoors is a one stop shop for jigs, and a site sponsor. His jigs are top notch. Any weight you need, so many head styles for different situations, and a ton of different colors. Once I started using Siebert jigs it quickly became the only brand in my jig box. Site sponsor or not, they are 100% fishing catching quality baits.
  8. I fish 1/8 and 3/16oz in the rivers, but I don’t fish current often. The sections of river I primarily fish are very slow moving. If I do fish current I switch to a heavy Texas rig for bottom contact like @TnRiver46.
  9. After doing a bunch of river fishing and the river gobbling up all my ned heads, I switch to the Z-Man football Ned heads. Game changer! Started getting snagged way less. I definitely recommend them if you throw ned rigs in a snaggy river. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_Finesse_Football_Nedz_Jighead_3pk/descpage-ZMFTN.html
  10. A glass bead in between the bullet and hook will protect the knot from the tungsten slamming against it, and the glass will still make a loud click. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Eagle_Claw_Lazer_Sharp_Faceted_Glass_Beads/descpage-ECFGB.html
  11. The brightside for them is the fact that they should be very used to this exact thing! I live in Mets Fan country, so I can wear my Atlanta gear and silently remind the Mets fans around me who the NL East belongs to. It’s always been ATL!
  12. Fishing a new lake in search of some smallmouth bass back in July. Studying the contour map the night before, I picked my first target spot; an island point that runs parallel with a channel that separate the island from a large mid-lake shoal. Prime looking smallmouth spot according to the map. So I get to the lake at sunrise and make a beeline for the island point I saw on the map. When I get there, I’m happy to see a very rocky shoreline, and lots of boulders and riprap under the water. I make a cast with my Megabass PopMax, and immediately something swipes at it when it lands. Pop it a few more times, another non-contact swipe. “Too big for em” I though to myself. So I promptly switch to a Megabass Pop-X, basically a Jr sized PopMax. I made a long cast and placed that popper right next to a large boulder sticking out from the water, dead center of the point, about 3’ out from shore. “That’s gonna be a fish” I said out loud. Popped the PopX once and immediately it gets hammered just like I knew it would. Stuck the fish solidly (or so I thought), and immediately the line heads for the surface. And when the surface broke, I see what was almost certainly my PB smallie, a giant football tail-walk 10’ across the surface. When I get her next to the boat, my buddy readies the net. She looked like she was gonna give in, only to make a final dart under the boat at sight of the net. She dives, and my line goes limp. A lonely, pathetic little PopX gently floats to the surface, with a treble hook straighten right out. I didn’t say a word for probably 30 mins. Either did my buddy. We just kept on fishing in silence. We ended up having a decent day, but I missed out on a PB smallie, on a cast where I called my shot. I was a little salty after that. Man I wanted that fish in the boat.
  13. Slow probably 75-25. Even reaction baits like spinnerbaits and the like generally produce better when slowly fished. Times they want it fast but not most of the time.
  14. Yep. I used to fish from sun-up to sundown, and be completely GASSED on the drive home. Don’t do it much anymore. If there is any question that I will be too tired to drive home, I call it a day right then. Especially on those days where I’m driving 45+ mins to the lake.
  15. Oh yes. During the summer, the drive home after being on the boat for 10 hours in the beating sun after being up at 3:30 am always required a fresh coffee for the road. This time of year it’s not quite so bad, but in the summer the drives home can be brutal.
  16. I rarely go lighter than 1/2oz. Lately been throwing 3/4oz more. It sinks down into the weeds better and I can keep it closer to bottom when slow-rolling.
  17. 26” saugeye geez that’s a monster
  18. I just wanna know that a world record size bass exists.
  19. Baseball season begins right when the ice starts to melt up here, and by the time the World Series is over, the water is very cold, the trees are bare, and the fishing is a little tougher, and frozen lakes are only a couple weeks away.
  20. Yes the shorter you trim the weed guard, the stiffer it becomes. It’s easier to bend 8’ of aluminum than it is 4’. The shorter it gets the harder it becomes. Same concept. I may snip a few off, or spread them all out if I need to make it less stiff.
