Giving Up Your Rights To Fish.
Wow! I'm about 45 mins from you and know a lot of cops but they refer to DEC as Trout Troopers and don't really know any laws when it comes to hunting/fishing unless they themselves hunt or fish and even then they have a very if I flash my badge I'm fine mentality. But this I've never heard of but makes total sense. I mean we could be holding our daily limit for DEC to see but have a truck full of 20-30 bass... Very interesting I'll have to send a text to one of my cop friends who fishes and see what the exact law on this is. I've always heard DEC actually has ways around a lot of laws that cops don't but never asked for anyone to elaborate.

Shore Fishing Rant ( Fishermans Garbage Left Behind)
Just like many of you I always bring a bag big enough for my trash and one to clean up around me. One of my favorite spots is always polluted with drinks, old line, empty worm containers, cans etc so I make sure its clean. That town spent extra money make sure the Northville lake/pond had new steps put in, a fishing chart so you can id fish, know legal sizes, and weights. Awesome for new fisherman and kids. Also gives history of fish and tips on how to catch them. So when people pollute these areas I get pretty mad. That's why towns go to crap and they stop putting money into making them better areas.

Length Of Time
However when I move to fishing the top water I will use only that^
-
Length Of Time
This depends on A LOT. I will go anywhere from 10-100 casts. Changing up technique every 5-20 casts. Sometimes it isn't the bait but the technique. Today for instance I only had an hour to fish so every bait got 10-15 mins. Tomorrow I have a lot more time and will bring multiple poles, and will fish two at a time. I usually allow my top water to sit near a current for awhile because if I'm fishing the bottom with a constant retrieve and I miss a top water blow up. No big deal because that worked and I'll move to that. So really it all depends. Also tournaments are much different.

Hook Removal - Gerald Swindle
Never been hooked that deep, even with sharp hooks IDK how it could get that deep to the barb going all the way in. My earliest fishing memory was around 6 fishing a creek with older friends and I got my basketball shorts hooked in the man area. They were netted multi layer shorts so luckily it didn't go past the second layer but watch an 8 yr old go at that hook in that area with plyers still haunts my dreams haha.

Crawpapys
Same colors as you bought by the way haha.

Crawpapys
I bought 3 of these at Herb Phillipson in their bargain bin for 1.99. I cant believe these things are so cheap and we all seem to have the same idea when we see these. Would I have paid 4-5.00 for them? I personally think so. Plan on using them tomorrow.

Anyone Else Struggle Here
I personally do better on fish I don't see even if I know they are there. For some reason the ones I visually see seems like I could drop anything and it wouldn't nibble.

For Those Of Us Who Hate Ice Fishing But Want To Fish
Oh I'm the same way. Main reason I have so many animals. Kids want this or that and boom there's a new animal to the collection. As long as they are taken care of and healthy that's all I care about.

Building The World Record Bass
He isn't kidding. My friend and I found a private stocked pond in our early teens. We fished every bait you could imagine to no avail. It was private property and as an adult I know it was wrong for us to try. But the owners walked down snickering at us with a coffee can in their hands. They asked if we had any luck and if we realized it was private property. Of course said no. They said this is why you can't catch these fish and took handfuls of fish food and tossed them into the pond and the pond turned BLACK! These bass from 5" youngins to 10lb lunkers swarmed to feet on their kibble. So anyone who can catch in this environment good luck. We would throw in anything from a worm to a crank bait and the bass would swarm it then swim away. So anyone who entices these fish that are fed like this is TRULY skilled or lucky. Imagine how frustrating it is to throw in a school of hundreds of bass for hours and never get a nibble during prime bass fishing season at 4-6 pm. I think people need to try it before judging because to catch kibble fed bass or bass that are used to feeding on only one thing for their entire lives. Good luck trying to switch them. You really have to get in touch with their wild instincts. It's like getting a person who has been on welfare for 40 years off it. When you're used to being spoon fed you will probably NEVER change. They won't take a job for the same amount of money as they get for sitting around doing nothing. You have to offer them triple that. Seems like a weird analogy but it's true. These bass really need you to REWIRE their brains back to the basics to nibble. That or hope you find a bass who has been bullied away from feeding.

Diehard Fisherman!!!
Also no that's not how snow works 3 of the last 4 years we have had thunder storms in the winter where it was under 32.

Diehard Fisherman!!!
Worst ever my dad and his new wifes father took me to a camp I had never been to with a small lake in the early Spring. It had been gorgeous out all week but muddy. I just took a light jacket mostly shorts and a pair of jeans. First day out lake temp dropped 7-12 degrees as the outside temp dropped 25 degrees down to 35 after it had been 60-70 all week. I caught the only fish of the weekend and my dad went to net it and the line was snapped by the net. Just absolutely rediculous. Wasn't a tournament, but my worst weekend out. Not too mention the bear had come out of hibernation by this point with the gorgeous weather we had and we had bear outside our cabin scratching the door and knocking over the garbage the first night and the second and third nights they never stopped circling the cabin. Bear honestly don't both me or them (do a lot of camping in old forge) but when you are sleeping in a log cabin you hear everything and it wasn't a cabin used in the winter so it wasn't really winterized so the wind blew through there all weekend. We never really did get warm and the third night I slept with in three feet of the wood stove. Thank god I was only 12-13 because now I'm not sure if I would make all 3 days. I like to sleep cold but don't want to spend all day in it.

Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
Sounds good though, I'm getting my license tomorrow and plan to at least get out and test some new equipment/lures/etc out. Is there a place closer than Wal Mart to get our licenses around here?

Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
Had I known that I would have gave you the money for my order maybe saved a couple of dollars on shipping at least. I'm pretty new to jig fishing so I could use all the help I can get.(Especially since you and a hanful of other local fisherman have said that's the best way to fish the Mohawk) My jig fishing experience, I could break my record in time fishing with a jig by one or two days out haha. To be honest I always just did a weedless rig with the trailers you would normally jig fish with and did quite well if it was weighted. So this year I really want to focus on all my weaknesses to see if I could possibly find a method or two that helps me get more fish in the boat.

Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
I wanted to post the customer service reply first as anyone who misread that I wanted to just let you know you were reading it wrong. I've been in customer service and sales most of my life and the reason I continue to make bigger commissions selling an inferior product (Just to clear it up I sell an inferior product/Mike doesn't) is my customer service and going the extra mile. So good customer service recognizes it when they see it. I just wanted to feel comfortable that my money this month was going in the right place. Had some issues come up this week with another business I worked with recently and had to go to war so I haven't been online at all this week except to answer private messages on here. I thank you all for your input and the waters are all open now and I could be out jig fishing right now but I didn't even find time this week to get my license (Which I'm doing tomorrow). So I didn't get to click checout on Mikes' Jigs either. This kind of response is truly unreal. Honestly I'd be shocked if you all didn't bring a tear to his eyes as he read this. This kind of backing, customer loyalty and affirmation that you are doing this good of a job doing something you love is just unbelievable. I am sending Mike an email right after this for some advice on jigs. I already know a lot of what I want based on trailers I already have that I want to use. But from the sounds of it if I don't take advantage of picking his brain and adding jigs based on his reccomendations I would be doing myself a huge disservice. Honestly couldn't be more excited about receiving his jigs (and to be honest jigs are something I'm indifferent about) but for the first time ever I'm excited to see this quality first hand.

Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
NO! I'm HUGE on customer service. It does sell me BIG TIME. I was just saying you don't need to sell my on customer service because I have already ready 100 reviews on how good his customer service is. And he seems like the nicest guy coming and going. I just wanted to know what makes you all keep going back besides the customer service. Again my laptop and phone the color is very washed. All my lures I own look 100x better in person than the pictures so I couldn't judge on the colors from the internet.
-
Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
Thanks a lot! It is tough to see the colors because I look at the site through either a smaller smart phone or older laptop where all the colors look washed. I had a feeling that the quality was there but I cant exactly see that. Durability is a big plus since I will be fishing a lot of rocks and that's what I have is football head jigs thus far. This answer is exactly what I have been looking for. Looks like I'm going to take that 40.00 + shipping plunge. I have spent about 400.00 on fishing gear this last month so was trying to take it easy this month and limit it to my two mystery boxes and either a Sieberts order, or getting some River2Sea stuff I've been wanting to get since I got a 20% discount. I know I need the jigs though and I'm doing pretty well on craws, frogs, poppers, and other top water baits I had in my cart over there. Thanks again for the response.

Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
Also some ideas on what to add to my cart size/color/type etc. I'll be mostly using them on the Mohawk river fishing near the locks.

Siebert Outdoor....what Makes Them So Good?
This year I plan to do a lot of jig fishing. Especially early in the season with Craw trailers. Speaking with another local fisherman/business owner on this site (Delware Valley Tackle) he says jig fishing near the locks near us is a good idea, and as I planned on doing that to start the year anyways I have been looking at a lot of jigs. Everynight I load my shopping cart at http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ full of jigs that match trailers I want etc. and while I know very little about jigs I do see compared to my local shops they are slightly more in price plus I have to pay for shipping. I have read a ton of good "thank you I love them" posts on here but nothing really "selling" them as a product. Please give me some reasons to click checkout on that cart tonight! I have a whole 2 jigs in my collection both black and blue. I was looking at them at BPS and a random tournament fisherman even said they were the best jigs but I was more interested in picking his brian about frogs and reels and forgot to come back to jig fishing. Also you don't have to sell me on customer service because I have read 10000 stories about rush shipping for tournaments, and going the extra mile for customers. This to me is HUGE! But good customer service keeps me a customer it doesn't sell me. Also reading his posts he seems like a great guy and very helpful. I'm sold on him, just want to be sold on shelling out the cash on this big shopping cart I have full....

For Those Of Us Who Hate Ice Fishing But Want To Fish
I think the whole thing is unneccessary but still funny none the less. I think the cat idea is great. Wife hates cats (thank god) so no cats to try that on but d**n that could be fun.
