I was reading the "how many rods do you bring when bank fishing" thread and someone mentioned one of these. For some reason I never even realized this toole existed and I'd love to get one. For what I am looking for... Must haves: carries at least 4 rods with reels mounted Mix of casting and spinning rods Securely holds rods of average diameter (standard M to H type rods) Bonus feature: Would be fantastic if I could mount it to a boat without requiring screws as I often go out with my friend in his little aluminum boat and it belongs to his grand parents so he doesn't want to drill and holes into it Carries 6 rods Offers some form of protection during transport I was wondering what some of you guys may be using to get the job done? Jerkbaits are really a lot of fun to fish in my opinion. You aren't just cranking away like a crankbait and you aren't just slowly lifting your rod tip like when you're dragging a jig across the bottom. It's a fun twitch-twitch-pause motion that allows for a lot of variation. I'm not an expert on them, but as others have said, the suspending models are fantastic in cold waters. You want the bait to sit slightly nose down and to suspend or fall ever so slightly when on a slack line. In the warmer months you can change it up with a floating model and increase the cadence of your rythm. Fun fun fun

Yeah this happens to me too -- I think a part of it might just be confidence. When you just KNOW there's a fish there, you just seem to focus in a little bit more on everything from the cast to the way your line is moving and every little vibration coming up the rod.

I know I should, but I always forget to sharpen my hooks or check for dullness... even bought a file for it, just never used it.

Since the tip of the day thread has died out a little, I thought I'd try to get some fresh tips out of all of you with a new spin on the question. What thing do you find yourself forgetting to do or to focus on when you know you should be? My question sounds weird to my own ears, so here are a few examples: - I know I should, but I often forget to watch the line when fishing on a semi slack presentation - I know I should, but I often forget to let out some extra line to make sure my jig falls straight and doesn't pendulum back to me - I know I should, but I often forget to wear my life jacket - I know I should, but I often forget to bring TP OK I think you get the idea... so let's hear it. Hey, Saw some folks who seem to be ready to jump onto the lake and wet their lines as soon as there's a bit of ice off of the lake. How soon do you guys go out fishing once it starts melting? And I am assuming you are fishing deep at this time?

just bought my first b/c combo (tatula 7'1" MHXF + Tatula 100HSL) so I want to become proficient with it including the arts of pitching and skipping. Also want to gain confidence in fishing a jig.

Yum Dingers have worked for me as well as senkos and are cheaper. Rage craws are fantastic Am looking forward to trying the Stanley Y-Not.. those floating appendages look killer. Zoom Super Flukes are fun to fish and last year I caught a ton on the Strike King Caffeine Shad

Ok well I caught two 4lbs last year and they might have been a little longer but they didn't have a gut like that sucker, I was SO OFF, thought it was in the upper 6. Congrats Dwight!!

Hey! I wish I knew hahaha, from the video sounds like it's mostly the craws but that video was my only source of info on that topic so I can't say for sure.

I'm thinking of going with a Tatula MH-Regular (modfast) for moving single hook applications like chatterbaits, swim jigs, spinnerbaits and hollow bodied swimbaits. Thoughts?

would that rod also be suitable for swimbaits and punching?

Haven't fished the Purist or the President, but I own 2 Supreme's and if you can find them at a good price they are a really nice reel.

I fished a lot of wacky on both a 6'9" MXF EliteTech SM and a 7'0" MHF BPS Extreme and to be honest, both worked just fine for me.

I'm not one of the experts you are looking for, but I believe that a fluoro leader on braid can be helpful. I've fished without it and caught fish anyways, but fluoro is more abrasive resistant and it's virtually invisible in the water. So if I am fishing slow finesse type presentations, like say a wacky rig, I like to have a leader. I susually do longer than 8" though since I don't want to have to tie a connecting knot many times so I'll usually give it a couple of feet at least. And red is a good color crankbait to imitate crawfish, especially if there's some good grass around. They eat micro organisms off of the grass that give them vitamin A. If they have a lot of vitamin A their craws get red, if they are deficient, they turn blue. At the last classic I saw a lot of red crankbaits being thrown.

If your soft plastics aren't swimming true, or have spent all winter bunched up in the bag and the boot tail is all crooked on little swimbaits, put them in some hot water for a few seconds and straighten them out, allowing them to dry before storing them carefully again. Fluekmaster had a video on this from what I recall but I can't seem to find it
