  1. Fishing...A Haiku I'm a fisherman Love to be on the water Hey look...there's a duck!
  2. I realize in NOLA you probably don't have this but I taught myself to use a BC in winter when the snow was flying and the water was hard. I was glad I did. I taught myself on a BPS Pro Qualifier. I can't imagine a better reel to learn on because of the Dual Braking System...but that's just me. Pick out one you like (no cheapies) and just commit to it
  3. Power Pro I like Slick but that's because I'm confident with it. Buy either and don't look back
  4. I must be Old School. I throw on a ratty old pair of cut-offs, a sleeveless t-shirt, a filthy old ball cap, and a pair of Birkenstocks. Slather up with sunscreen, put on a pair of thin mechanics gloves to keep the sunscreen off my baits and the fish and I roll. I'd look ridiculous in these things. Like a bratwurst in a tube sock
  5. If you gotta ask....what do you think?
  6. Pro Qualifier on an Extreme Rod...which happen to be on sale right now.......this Model....EXR76MHT. 7'6" MH Extra fast. Should be a good system for you. The extreme pairs nicely with the PQ and I like the Power Hump handle. Some may not. This give you a good set up that is built like a tank. Not the lightest set up you'll use or the most refined but it will get the job done well and will be a joy to use if you like the feel of everything. Just my .02 Have them spool it up with some Power Pro....I like the slick but it costs more backed with half a spool of of their cheap house mono. You, my friend will walk out ready to fish and no..I don't work for BPS. I just like this particular stuff and have had good luck with it. Certainly do NOT buy something blindly based on my or any one else's recommendation. Pick it up....put reels on it....find someone that actually knows what he/she is talking about and ask questions. I have found that it doesn't matter how much something costs or how "nice" it is.....if I'm not comfortable using it, I won't.
  7. THAT TOO!
  8. Out of all my rod/reel set ups my favorite is a Pro Qualifier on a 6'6" MH/F Extreme Rod. It just fishes very nicely and there ain't much I can't do with it.
  9. H&H all the way. Just a little over a buck
  10. I like pie.
  11. 20 years?! If you are financing a boat for 20 years, you can't afford that boat!
  12. Just say to yourself..."If I was a bass.....where would I be?" Don't laugh....if you say you've never done that...you, my friend, are lying!
  13. I fish a 76 acre lake all the time and use a 30 lb trolling motor ONLY. Up North I fish a 700 acre lake with a 7 horse Yamaha on a 14 ft. V jon boat with me an my wife. We are not small people. That little 7 horse does just fine. How fast? I have no idea but I'm fishing. Not skiing or tubing. How fast do you need on an 80- acre lake? Hold on to your money and buy something very basic
  14. It takes a mighty big dog to weigh a ton.
  15. My first cast this year was a wacky rigged bubblegum senko.
  16. I'm not sure I would use 20 lb FC for anything other than MAYBE leader material. Let alone tossing a Texas rigged worm or a jig. And as others have said...drag has nothing to with casting.
  17. To irritate you
  18. The old Comet Mino is the lure that really got me going in Bass fishing years ago. I found one on a bank and tied it on and caught a 2 lb'er. Up til then I was a "bobber/nightcrawler" kinda guy. I still use them. Got a brand new silver and gold one just waiting to be thrown. Even though I don't throw them very often, they rarely let me down when I do. Also...Raul mentioned the Whopper Stopper Hellbenders. I collect them but I ALSO throw them up North in some of the deeper lakes I fish. Pike love them. Those suckers dive DEEEP.
  19. Still my first choice of Spinners. Not too many ways I can't fish them
  20. I hope it's exactly what you wanted....Good luck!
  21. True. Message the Big O. He's the Rage Tail guy. The folks from Zman are on here, too. This all sounds like something the Japanese would LOVE.
  22. Ok...then what were you looking for? I'm all for technology but once again...it's just fishing. Maybe your research could be used to help find a cure for cancer or something.
