  1. Jack-The-Horse lake...sunset....Northern Mn. Bottom pic is my "home" lake. Happy Holler Missouri. Not a big lake but very "bassy" LOVE this thread
  2. Personal commitments, lightning, too much wind. I've got one of the little 2 man "pelican" type boats and that thing is hard to deal with in the wind. ALTHOUGH.....I was on the lake last year and the wind picked up so I fought my way back to the ramp and loaded up. As I looked out across the lake I noticed an older fella in a small jon boat tie off to a tree and keep right on fishing. It irritated me that I hadn't thought of that...lol. An obvious solution that my pea brain just didn't think of. Ps......a Rat-L-Trap treble hook buried to the hilt in my finger also tends to take me off the lake
  3. This......better luck with spook type baits. Certainly better hook up ratio. I generally don't even bother fishing an HB frog all the way back to the boat. I work it through the cover and just reel it back through open water.
  4. Nope....you want to? Cool.......just don't blast me outta off the water with it. I want to hear nature or the voices in my head
  5. I don't think "brand" has anything to do with it. It just goes by how much you spend......want more points? Spend more money..lol
  6. No vegetation? I use 15 lb PP slick 8 personally. It's what I fish non heavy stuff topwater with. Works great. and your reel will hold a ton of it.
  7. Jitterbug still has a place in my tackle box. I will throw a JB on my way back to the boat ramp as the sun sets or even after the boat is pulled and I'm not QUIIIIIITE done fishing yet. Generally good for 4 or 5 explosions a year. Plus, I just like that throwing one ties me to the past. Same goes for Lazy Ikes.......they still live in my box and get thrown a few times year. Especially up North in Minnesota.
  8. This......I would NEVER buy a a rod or reel based on the opinions of others SOLELY. I could buy the best rod or reel in the world but if it doesn't feel like an extension of my hand I won't use it. I'll LISTEN to and value the opinions of others certainly but would never buy strictly because of it.

Beeeautiful. Go out on the platform and throw a hollow body frog onto the bank over there to the right and start working it back towards with a stop and go twitchy retrieve. Get that frog to raise a ruckus. If you don't get hit, there ain't nothing there. I'd still go there, though. Looks awful nice
  10. I subscribe to "Chaos Theory"
  11. My favorite is in my profile. Little MDC lake called Happy Holler in NOWEMO. I call it my white whale. I have great days and and caught my PB outta there and then there are days that I can't buy a bite and I'm challenged like heck..and then just when I think I'm going somewhere else..they turn back on. Plus..it's just a nice place to be
  12. That's funny...when I throw smaller Cranks on my MH BPS Extreme, I actually turn the mag brake UP a little and turn the cast control way down. Works a little better...for me.
  13. It ain't that big a deal down there either. I wasn't too smart in 1986. probably not much better now!
  14. The good ol' Wabash. I grew up just across the border from Vincennes. Hell I water skied the Wabash on New Years Day 1986. I believe alcohol was a factor.
  15. I think the only person that wished I could fish more than me is my poor wife. I get a little "grouchy" and restless when I can't spend time on the water.
  16. Every single custom color soft plastic or jig I've ever had made has at least SOME orange on it and they work. Why do they work? Don't know...don't care.
  17. While I have and use different stuff from all the major players, most my soft plastics come from small producers. I particularly like a little company outta Butler Missouri called Sure-Fire Baits. You'd have to look them up on FB. They make a 7" ringed ribbon tail worm in a real craw pattern that I'm never without and I've caught a ton of LMB's on T-rigged weightless or on a swing head and slather up with Mega Strike. Plus...with most of the little guys, you can get any color combo you can dream up. Not knocking the big guys.....I just prefer to give my money to a guy I can actually talk to and that I know is fishing with the same stuff he makes.
  18. Wacky rigged Senkos. Never....nothing...nada....nope
  19. Another vote for the President. I don't like spinning reels. I like my President.
  20. Not yet but I got my eye on the Daiwa Morethan from them.
  21. God, I'll be glad when winter is over. This group gets weird in winter!

  23. Got my PB (9.3) and got my first boat. Spent a LOT of time on the water but didn't get up to Minnesota. That will change in 16. Will be looking to beat that PB and maybe fish my first few tournaments from the BOTB with a guy that is going semi-pro this year. He'll be doing some FLW stuff and I will be doing some smaller regional stuff with him.
  24. One and one only? 9" Culprit Fat Max T-rigged on a swinghead jig. Can I have more than one color? and some Megastrike? If so...I'm good
