  1. I mostly fish small Missouri Dept of Conservation lakes that are very well managed. Anything under 100 acres in MO is electric only. I only fish 2 that are bigger than that. I catch my share. Would I like to fish one of the big boys? Sure....but I'm not there and don't have the time or money to go there. I guess we do have one down south of me that a few may have heard of. I believe it's called "Table Rock"...lol So I guess...small
  2. Did anyone else read this in Elmer Fudd's voice? (Sorry BigBill)
  3. Other than odds and ends, I buy in the winter and use in the summer.
  4. ^^This^^....except I would add that if I'm throwing around a lot of laydowns or stumps I'll generally tie on a short lighter weight fluoro leader. Lot easier to break off an 8 lb leader than 20 lb Powerpro if I get an irretrievable snag.
  5. Got several swim jigs and rarely pull them out. I tend to go Lipless crank in those situations. Might have to rethink that. No real reason other than confidence. Trouble is, after burying a treble in my finger earlier this summer, I find myself a little hook shy. Looks like my swimmers will see the light of day....soon
  6. My thought for a phone app? Shut it off...stick it in the glove box....fish.
  7. T-Rig something flappy weightless on the end of some relatively light flouro leader, give it a toss, let it flutter down in the branches and say a little prayer. And be prepared to lose some baits and some fish
  8. Weird....I use 15lb power pro on my bc and have never once had line snap. Never have line dig in and I use Palomar almost exclusively. *shrugs*
  9. Smithwick Devil Horse. I've got a few and I want to love them. I love the look and the feel of the balsa and the timelessness of them. Never caught a thing on one
  10. I fish to get away from people. alone, alone, alone.
  11. Booyah, Live Target, and my personal fave that seems to get no love here.....Scumfrog Trophy series. Not tried SPRO or R2S. Of the 3, booyah is the cheapest and are BY FAR the most durable. I catch a LOT of fish on the Scumfrogs but they do get misaligned a lot and and have to be adjusted or the action goes to crap pretty quickly. The Booyah will roll occasionally when dragging it through lily pads but it rights itself well in water and never had an issue with it.
  12. I have much love for my Diawa Silvercast Spin caster on a 5'6" Ugly stik or equivalent. It was all I used up until about 5 years ago and I landed many a pig with it. Still use it occasionally when I just go dink around at a local park pond.
  13. Yep...I bought one from Fleabay for $25. Wound up giving it away last year but only because the guy needed it. I upgraded to a President. While I don't have much experience with spinning reels, I'm not sure what more you could want from a reel than what the President has to offer for 60 bucks.
  14. Well...if I had it, it would last as long as it took me to snag it with a jig hook on a cast and rip a huge hole in it while I was out in the middle of the lake with $1000 worth of tackle winding up on the bottom. But that's just me.....
  15. I just found about this not too long ago. I don't generally weigh or take pictures but I want me one of those. I figure I've missed out on about 8 of those by not knowing about it.
  16. *insert Beaver joke here*
  17. My opinion is the the next World Record bass will be bigger than the current world record bass.
  18. I can honestly say my PQ has never gurgled at me
  19. I call it "fishing angry" and it happens most every time I go out. In fact, it's the REASON I go out. I rarely catch much the first hour or so I'm out. I'm thinking about everything BUT fishing. Work....chores....money...whatever. I cast wildly and fish way too fast. And then........I start slowing down. think about tactics and patterns....pay attention to lure selection and casting placement....working the angles. I start actually fishing...and catching fish. At that point I can sit out there for 8 hours and not even notice that time has passed at all. In other words.........the ZONE
  20. The VAAAAST majority of my jigs are Northstar. and I will replace with Northstar or Sieberts. A lot of the really little guys include shipping in their prices. I don't have anything against the big boys and I do, of course, buy from them. I just like giving my money to the guy I can actually talk to and I've gotten some amazing baits. The vast majority of these guys are mostly making baits for themselves and sell just to finance their "addiction". I've bought preacher jigs custom made in the colors I wanted and with the amount of flash I wanted for less than 3 bucks each. You think the bait monkey is bad when you go to BPS or TW? Try dealing with him when the prices are low and the options are endless. Guys like Sieberts or Northstar started just like this, I'm sure. Making stuff in a garage. Heck, Northstar is still that way. I've been in Chris's workshop. It ain't much but there some amazing jigs coming out of there. With all that said, I recently wanted had to cut the barb off a Live Target Frog to unhook a smaller bass. The body was still fine so I sent Live Target an email asking to purchase some replacement hooks. I was told they didn't sell them but they would give me one. They sent 2. Bigger company but still great customer service.
