  3. I have used braid almost exclusively for many years now and only respool when my casting distance is compromised. Some are over two years old, no problems. It lasts a very long time. I would not be concerned.
  4. Pit boss for me. Go to would be a 4" Big Texan on a 4/0 owner rig-n-hook.

  6. I use the Alberto knot on my braid to fluoro. Braid to lure I use a Palomar knot. Fluoro to lure I use a San Diego Jam knot. I see you have been fishing for many years and I'm sure you know but I will add for all the younger anglers reading..... all knots should be well lubed (saliva) and cinched slowly as not to burn (damage) the line.
  7. While I like and use sunline sniper, a cheaper flouro that Darren has mentioned red label is ok.

  9. Hey some good ones, nice going.
  10. I have the jig/worm model. Very nice Rod and I did get mine on sale a couple years ago. Well worth it even at regular price IMO. They are fairly light and sensitive and the Winn grips are my favorite.
  11. Yes, good advice. Simplify is at the top of my list, as Ive been adhering to the k.i.s.s. approach for quite a long time now. It has worked out well for me.
  12. This is what I do also. Cost me $26 to ship a Rod from NY to California via UPS.

  15. Awesome couple days, nice going.
  16. I got out for my first trip this year on Sunday from 930 till 400 Fished a public lake in eastern Suffolk. Water temp was 52 at start and 56 when I left. No sign of any spawning activity where I was. I did manage to land 17 bass with 3 others coming unbuttoned at boatside. Most were around 1 lb with a few good ones in the mix. The largest bass came on a jig/craw - 4 lb 14 oz. Most came on a shallow crank. Heres the 4.14

  18. I use 15, 20, and 30 lb braid on three spinning setups, they all work well. I wouldn't hesitate.
  19. Here's my advice, if you want bass the further east you go in Suffolk the better the bassing. Free Tip: If your in Nassau county go to Freeport reservoir.
  20. I think for these conditions 16 lb sniper would work well.
