Swim Jig Vs. Bladed Jig
I like a swim jig when there are nice pockets in the grass. If it is too heavy of cover though I will opt for the bladed jig to go over and call them out.

Thinking About Upgrading To A Bow Mount
So I have been thinking about getting s bow mount on my boat. Curently I have a 14'aluminum boat with a 30lb thrust Minn Kota transom. It works great with no wind, but the instant the wind goes over 5mph it starts to become impossible to control in the boat in the wind. I was thinking upgrading to a bow mount because I would be pulling the boat versus pushing. Would it be better? If so I was thinking a 45lb or less would be idea. What are your thoughts, ideas comments/concerns?

Intended Rare Tackle?
With the post of rare lures it got me wondering. It looks like a lot of collectors are going for Megabass. Do tackle companies make some lures with the intention of having them be limited? Do they limit release of certain colors or styles? I know like the wiggle warts, they where bought out by another company leaving the abundant originals to dwindle down to limited amounts.

Im Feeling Very Orange Today.
I love it! I would wish they made a super sized one for Musky/Northern Fishing. Maybe 1oz ish with a masive Beast Owner Hook and trailer.

Insuring Tackle
The insurance that I have covers my boat, motor, electronics and all of my tackle/rods. I have a base coverage for all. In the winter I remover the insurance because the boat is in storage and my home owners insurance will cover it. (It's stored in my garage) The summer coverage is mainly I sink and loose it all,. Value wise.. I didn't put a specific amount on the tackle. But there is an immortalize value where you can say your tackle had a 4 year life. At the end of four years you can sell it for 20%. So over the 4 years it would depreciate 20% value each year.

Mn Flee Market
Does anyone know of a Minnesota sporting flee market? Just looking for so local haggling.

Pliers
Those look nice, but in no way am I sticking my hands down a Northern's throat with those short things... lol

Donating Gear
I don't think I can agree. Fishing gear is considered a non necessity. It isn't really a toy but a tool. With that said, I think it is important that kids be shown fishing, and gives that child an out. I think the saying goes, "if a child busy, there is no time for them to get in trouble"... or something like that. Showing them young also teaches kids the proper ideas of fishing. The idea of CPR, land conservation, and how to protect that land from invasive species. So.. in your definition of a toy.. doesn't every child deserve a toy, and be shown how to properly care for their things?

Not So Confident With Jerk Baits
That is another one I am looking at. The only thing stopping me from putting in the order is a back story of how I didn't order it... lol I got scolded finally the other week about no more tackle for the season, and well if a $200 TW order shows up in my name . Not good. I would love to go to a Cabelas, but I know they don't have 1/4 off what else I want to get.

Pliers
If you are keeping them in storage and they are wet, that moisture will stick with them and rust it out. A couple things. Dry them out in the sun after a days use prior to putting them away. If you are drying them and they go into a container get one of those rust strips to hopefully slow the process down. Also if you are storing them where other items are and those are rusty you want to start out fresh in a new area free of rust. Throw away/replace/get read of all rust. I have had a set of the berkly's and they sit on an outside tool holder. I have had them out in rain, I have left them for the day in the bottom of the boat (With some standing spots of water) and I still dont have a spot of rust.

A Reminder
They say never more than 10° off horizontal with just the jaw. If you do you could injure the fish.

Not So Confident With Jerk Baits
I will look into them. I know I don't want to go overboard, and if it goes well I will look at higher end. As it stands now I just want the comfort of using them correctly.

That is one I have been eyeing. I picked out a couple different brands.

The Most Expensive Lure You Lost
Lol I bring them in the boat. Last time my brother in law tried this, the fish slipped out of his hand into the boat. Bite his ankle like a little ankle biting dog.

Best Tackle For Gift?
I could see getting idea off a list, but at that point is still basically giving him a gift card. It's not like trying to tell the wife what to get. (Personally my wife wouldn't even know what I'm saying if I told her I want a pack of 5/0 wide gap Mustads) You get tackle, and you know what he uses. Stick with finding a higher end bait that he uses. If he is a top water person get a mega bass popper.

The Most Expensive Lure You Lost
A $10 Rapala... and I didn't even lose it, my brother in law did.. But I cringe when I think of the day I might lose a Bbz shad/rat or even my shell cracker..

How Many Rods Do You Carry When On The Bank?
3 .... 1 Spinning, 1 Bait caster, and a back up in case. I only bring out two with me to the shore and leave the other in the car.

Best Tackle For Gift?
I assume you know what he likes to fish. And if he would say never touch an A rig you shouldn't make that a gift. With that said, I think we all have that one lure we would love to get, but might not want to put out said dollar amount. (For a while that was a Shell Cracker for me, but has moved into upgrading to some higher end baits such as Megabass). Maybe he is the same. Would love a higher end bait, but just can't see putting out $20-30 for just one. Regardless of what you get him, I am sure he will be happy. Any Fisher man or woman that would turn a nose up to free gifted tackle is just.... prudish..

Not So Confident With Jerk Baits
I know I am going to put in a TW order and in that I am going to throw in a couple jerk baits. nothing to expensive. Mainly Rapala, vicious, and a Spro. I think I have 5 or 6 in all that I am eyeing.

Not So Confident With Jerk Baits
I have been watching them, and I think my main problem as other started is I used them as a crank. I didn't fully understand the proper retrieve.
