  1. The legend tournament rods are too tip heavy. The elite or extreme are good to go. Will not buy another LTB.
  2. What size eliminator are you guys using for a 3/8 or 1/2” jackhammer? 3.5” or 4.5”
  3. I am right handed and use both. I grew up with right hand cast, switch hands and retrieve right. I still do that on rods that I cast with. On pitching/flipping rods, I use left handed reels. It's just easier and quicker pitching while trolling down the bank to not have to switch hands. Plus I am ready to set the hook as soon as it hits the water. Also, I get worn out less being able to switch hands. I'll go from winding a squarebill for awhile though timber(right hand retrieve), to picking up the pitching stick with a jig(left hand retrieve), using the other hand to give myself a little break.
  4. Dobyns dx745 . 744 is too light, IMO, for a 1/2oz jig with trailer. I have all of the dx74* line and the 745 is by far the best jig rod. Light and perfectly balanced. I also have a st croix legend extreme 7'4" heavy fast rod, and still prefer the dx745 over it. It balances better and feels more sensitive.
  5. I always replace all my crankbait hooks with the mustads. I just wasn't sure If I had the proper size already. I typically go up by one size as well. So #1's is what I'll put on these 4.0s.
  6. It works well for its purpose. But, I learned long ago, it's better to just bite the price bullet initially and buy the large bulk spools. At least the 600 yard ones. I found myself wasting too much line with the small 200yd spools. There was always line left on the spool that was too short to use, and I can only use so much scrap as leader material, then it becomes waste. If you're experimenting with different line types, that's one thing. Once you figure out what you like, buy the large spools. I am pretty much set on Sniper for fluoro, yozuri and senshi for coply/mono and have bulk spools for all of them.
  7. d**n, I forgot to check the obvious, their own website! Thanks.
  8. Can anyone tell me the stock hook size for the kvd 4.0 squarebill? I found them in stock online and ordered a few, but want to make sure have replacement trebles large enough. If not, I'll pick them up also.
  9. Bumping this old topic , does anyone have the super magnum and can measure the bottom of the bag, the rubber part for me? Need mainly the long dimension.
  10. Digitaka and japanlureshop are my gotos. Digital is almost always cheaper because of the free shipping. Both were at my house in under a week.
  11. Ive found the bass pro brand ones to work the best. The rapala are junk, spend more time getting hooks out of them than their worth.
  12. Haven't seen anything, I don't think they do a Presidents day sale. one of their competitors does though, and its 20%.
  13. Bad move! They will multiply, I guarantee it. I thought I was good having chronarchs, until I got a metanium last season. Now I have 3...
  14. The LTB rods are extremely tip heavy, to the point where I didn't want to fish with them anymore. I have three, and sent the 7'1 MH Fast back to st croix to upgrade to the extreme. I had to use a chair leg cap, with a one ounce sinker flattened inside, to get it to balance with a chronarch. I also have the 6'10 Med XF spinning and had to do the same thing, using a stradic ci4 3000. Lastly, I have the 6'8" jerkbait rod which still is tip heavy, but I left it alone because I fish mostly tip down anyway. I would not buy another LTB. Using a dobyns DX vs the LTB, it is night and day. The dobyns balances much much better.
  15. Will they fit with the plastic bags? Or just the plastic trays the rage baits come in?
  16. I think if you fish freshwater lakes and rivers, the green is better. They have more contrast.
  17. I traded my dx 703c in. I was pretty disappointed with how light a rating it was. The rod is no where near a medium heavy, its too light for anything other than a weightless plastic. I now have a dx 744 and 745 for Texas rigs and jigs, respectively. If you don't want to go with the 7'4" rods, then I would get the 704 for sure.
  18. I had a dx703c and also found it to be too weak for my liking. I bought a dx744c to replace it and it's simply the best rod I've ever used. It balances perfectly, which was one of my main concerns and why i dont really use my st croix legend tournament rod anymore. It has plenty of power while being super lightweight. I use it for Texas rigs. I'll see if I can get a pic of the balance point or a measure. I just traded my 703c for a 745c for exclusive jig use. Haven't got it yet, but based on the 744 I have not doubt it will be great.
  19. Everyone should make sure and check your order as soon as it comes in. I bought like 15 bags, and they shorted me 2 bags of different colors. Customer service said they're no longer in stock for order online, so I had to get a refund.
  20. I would stay away from black hills tomorrow. Some persian festival going on. Saw the signs there today that said parking may be limited and certain areas closed. http://montgomeryplanningboard.org/blog-news/2014/03/19/annual-persian-american-festival-sizdeh-be-dar-will-take-place-at-black-hill-regional-park-on-april-6-2014/
