  1. Hello, So I started a below thread on how I had doubled up Tacklewarehouse gift cards with a Memorial Day sale and saved a decent amount of money on my Minn Kota Ulterra a few years ago. Well, I will hopefully be getting a new boat next year and wondering if it is again a good idea to buy the gift cards at 15-20% discount and then waiting until the Memorial Day sale or any other sale with a decent amount off to purchase a new Ulterra or Talons. Does Tackle Warehouse have good prices? Are there other places that are cheaper and if so, where? Thanks in advance.
  2. Whopper Plopper is my favorite topwater followed by my homemade Teckel Frogs for when there is vegetation that messes up topwaters. I think I went to a 75 size after 110. Had all sizes and 110 was the best until I went to the smaller 75. The 90 didn't run well.
  3. Interesting. And not Veterans Day?
  4. It's Memorial Day and Tacklewarehouse has a 15% off discount. In the past I bought giftcards on a Memorial or Veterans Day sale, can't remember which, and then waited for one of the big holidays, might have been Memorial Day, Veterans Day, or Black Friday and bought a Minn Kota Ulterra at a discount. Combining the discount of the pre-purchased gift cards along with the current holiday sale saved me a ton of money on the new Ulterra. I thought the sale was 20% though. I am wondering if Tacklewarehouse has any sales with more than 15% off. And if purchasing the giftcards and then purchasing an Ulterra on sale would still work at Tacklewarehouse? Also, does Tacklewarehouse still have the best price on Minn Kota products? Thanks in advance for the help.

  7. Since this popped up again I watched it again and just realized that this is an Ultrex, wonder if this will work with an Ulterra?
  8. Sometimes they are hitting it to "stun" it and then eat it after. Pike do this a lot too. Usually I just keep slowly reeling it in after the swipe and they'll bite again. You can also throw a follow up lure like a wacky rigged Senko.
  9. I have the opposite experience. I'm down to 4 lures now: Topwater: 1.) Whopper Plopper 2.) Whopper Frog (Homemade) Underwater: 1.) Wacky Rigged Senko 2.) Nose-Hooked Zoom Super Fluke The Whopper Plopper has been an incredible lure for us. My favorite hard topwater bait. I do think the Berkley Choppo is a value priced alternative though.
  10. How often do you change yours?
  11. One important point for those that have locked on spare tires with nuts or locks, make sure you also have that lock key or right wrench/socket because you don't want to get a flat and not be able to get the spare off!!! I had a spare tire mounted that was not the same nut size as the trailer tires, that would have been a bummer on the side of the road with a flat tire!
  12. This lure is bigger than the bass in our Minnesota lakes!!! ???
  13. Wonder if you got a bad batch or counterfeit? I bought Power Pro 12 years ago when I started bass fishing, spooled all my reels with it......stuff is still going strong.
  14. Like above posters said I think you're moving yours too fast. I just give my a jerk, pause, jerk, pause, rinse and repeat. I also hook mine up like this which works great and saves baits.
  15. Too bad Craigslist isn't like Gunbroker where you can search items by what they sold for.
  16. It's known that a brand new car loses approximately 20% of it's value as soon as you drive it off of the lot. I'm wondering if it is the same for boats. Does a brand new boat drop value immediately like a new car does? And if so, what is the percentage?
  17. Yep, old strap broke and it flipped on a rough ride across the lake.
  18. This! I used sealed AGMs from Cabelas and will never go back to unsealed batteries. Last battery tipped and spilled acid everywhere.
  19. I think weighted would take away from it's action. I've had the best success with nose-hooked Super Flukes.
  20. I got some Rapala Mag ones that I am really, really happy with. They are angled a bit....the angle is really nice and helpful. Far better than straight pliers. Stainless, angled, and spring loaded....all nice features.
  21. Is the gauge at the plate or does it go on the boat dash?
  22. Would you go to a hydraulic next time or same brand and model?
