  1. So it holds less line, but the benefit is it's more low profile? And whats the benefit of a clicking drag?
  2. I just learned about this. I put on 2 layers of electric tape. Worked good. Easier than buying backing line.
  3. A friend told me that I shouldn't have my Dual Pro 3 bank charger connected to my starting battery because it could burn out a component of the outboard motor if there is an electrical current that goes the wrong way back to the outboard or some other problem. He said the outboards stator should be enough to charge the battery if I use the boat enough and normally shouldn't need to charge the starting battery. Is he correct? I've never heard of this.
  4. What Mustad hook? And what size is it? How noticeable is the difference in hooks?
  5. What do you think of the Kvd's hooks? Did you change them out?
  6. I'll try this and loosening the spool tension when I get home tonite.
  7. Cabelas sells a Cabelas Tournament ZX rod and Daiwa Tatula reel combo for $199.99 I'm sure it has been and will go on sale again. I have G. Loomis, St. Croix Rage and Mojo Bass and my Cabelas Tournament ZX are my favorite rods.
  8. Got a cold front tonight. From days in the mid 70's down to 52' degrees tonight in Minnesota. Should be back up to 76' degrees tomorrow when I get out on the lake. The other day we were sling quite well with topwater KVD Sexy Dawgs. What will this do to the fishing tomorrow? How should I plan on trying to catch some?
  9. I have two new Revo Rockets and I can't open the sideplate on either to access the magnetic drag. I loosened up the cross screw (same design as my Plueger Patriach) but it won't slide or move at all. I've tried both reels and it doesn't work. I made sure the screw was fully unwound. I've googled this and can't find a video or answer. So, please, how do you access the sideplate on a Revo Rocket?
  10. After reading Roadwarriors good, bad, ugly thread it got me thinking about my broken St. Croix Rage spinning rod. I broke it off 4" below the tip putting it in my boat locker. Is there anything I can do with warranty or something to get replaced? I see that Roadwarrior had to pay some money for a replacement and that's not a problem if I have to do that.
  11. What is over-lined? Too heavy of line for that reel?
  12. I have a nice St. Croix ultra-light rod. I normally use it for kids when they want to bobber fish. It's only 5'5" I think so it doesn't cast far and it's whippy. But I was wondering if I used it for bass with a senko near docks. I wouldn't be casting far and the bass range an average 1/2-3lbs range. Would this be a fun way to fish or would I be taking a risk at having a fish break my rod by over-fishing the rod?
  13. Would you change the hooks on the KVD? And what hook and size?
  14. I think people are missing a huge factor: Ambidextrousness Some people are very well coordinated with both hands. Others, like me basically have their dominant hand and then a stick. lol. I have almost no coordination in my left hand. It works, but I can't write or do anything of detail with it. Some folks can write with either hand. My right hand is my dominant hand, strong hand, and coordinated hand. I use my left hand for pulling the rod on a baitcaster and right hand to reel. With a spinning reel I use my right hand to pull and control the rod and my left hand to reel. I notice when using a spinning rod I move the rod a lot more that I do with a baitcaster. A baitcaster tends to be stuck more in the center and barely moved from there while the spinning rod gets moved away from the body more. Because of that movement I need my dominant, strong hand and the strength that goes with it. .
  15. Ah, ic. Now that I recall I think it's the one knocker spook. My mistake.
  16. But you like your bass boat better?
  17. That's awesome. Do you need a special rod and line for that?
  18. I had 2 St. Croix Rage rods, one was a spinning rod, which I loved, but broke the tip off putting it in my boats rod locker. Not sure it can be fixed. The other was a St. Croix Rage Baitcasting rod. It was a nice, light rod, but whenever I would hold it with my left and and reeled with my right it would pinch a nerve. I tried it for a year and it happened every time almost, sending a shock of pain through my hand. I switched rods and have never had that problem again. I've got a few St. Croix Mojo Bass Rods and Cabelas Tournament ZX rods and don't have this problem. I know the Rage had an open spot in the handle where the rod went through for sensitivity and I think that's the part that caused the problem. Anyone else have this problem with St. Croix Rage Baitcasting Rods?
  19. Yep, those Winn grips are sick. Love my Cabelas Tournament ZX rods.
  20. I thought the KVD had internal rattles and the Zara Spook didn't. And the fact that the KVD is supposed to walk-the-dog easier. Well, I just looked at my Spook and it too has internal rattles and is easy to walk. Is the KVD nearly an exact copy of the Zara Spook?
  21. I know that bass boats are made specifically for bass fishing and have certain features that are unique to fishing bass. I was what all of the advantages/benefits and benefits to using a true bass boat for bass fishing is.
  22. I checked all of the connections and they seemed tight. One battery is regular and the other is sealed. I opened up the one battery and saw that it is wet inside but almost has no visible water in it. I was going to get some distilled water and fill it up. Could that be the problem? And will filling it with distilled water solve the problem or do I need a new battery for sure now?
