  1. Hey Flechero, My ERN chart only converts up to 62 cents and an ERN of 7.9. The CCS data site has rods with ERNs of 16+. Do you have achart that converts cents beyond 62? If so I have the CCS data for the rods above. Thanks! Ronnie
  2. I have a G-loomis CR722 and a St. Croix PC60MF. Both are 6' and rated Medium Power, Fast Action. Would this be a fair comparison? I also have a G-Loomis CR724 (Heavy Fast) I can do the ccs test on these. Ronnie
  3. This goes for me as well. Just let me know what I need to do. THANKS! Ronnie
  4. Caught a 1/2 pound crappie on a 1/2 oz buzz bait. He jumped over a log to hit it. Hooked right in the top of the mouth. I couldn't have placed that big ole hook in that little bitty mouth with my hands. It was hilarious. Ronnie
  5. If you want to speed up the rate of fall, try a split shot 3 or 4 " above the hook. Ronnie
  6. This is why I think the original FS Rapala and the black shad Culprit worm have been so productive for me. Black & silver, both hues are visible in almost any light. Well said Roger. Ronnie
  7. Gman, I build rods, tie flys, sharpen knives, breed elephants , etc.. I discovered accidently, that you can get a document organizer from Walmart or Costco, you know, it's like a rack with letter size slots. You can put Plano 3700 boxes in the slots for small parts and it is great for keeping small stuff, nuts, bolts, bullet dies, lure parts, etc.. It is very inexpensive and works like a charm. Hope this helps. Ronnie
  8. Like Flechero, I will share my opinion and that's all it is. Theoretically (sp) flipping could be done with a spinning rig if you 'flip' the bait with the bail closed, that is, draw the length of cast line out and close the bail, then flip. This seems very awkward to me, but I am a baitcaster, mostly. Pitching with a spinning rig makes a little more sense, except that controlling the line delivery seems like it would be more difficult, at least to me. It's not so much that you can't flip & pitch with spinning gear, it's that bait casting gear makes it much easier. If you are a hard core spin fisherman and would like to experiment with bait casting. Get yourself a 5' 6" med. heavy rod and a low profile bait casting reel and learn to pitch jigs and worms. Practicing short, controlled casts will reduce the backlash frustration of trying to throw light baits a 1/2 a mile like you do with a spinner. Try it, you will open up a whole new world of fishing. IMHO. Ronnie
  9. G-Loomis MBR843C GLX with Shimano TE 200 DC reel. Life is good! Ronnie
  10. I would show it to a bass and see what he thinks. Ronnie
  11. Pinnacle Studio Plus is very powerfull and easy to use. It costs about $100 on line. I use and like it a lot. Ronnie
  12. Torque is the natural tendency of any rod to turn the guides in the direction of the line when under a load. If you want to feel what this is like, take the reel off of any baitcasting rod and tie a 10' length of line to the hook keeper or handle. Run it through the guides and tie the other end to any fixed object. Hold the rod in one hand with the guides up. With the side of a finger on the other hand under the first guide from the grip, lift the rod to put pressure on the line (load the rod). As you add more pressure, relax your grip on the handle. The rod will always try to flip over and point the guides down. Try this experiment with your rod. The advantage of a spiral wrapped rod will become quickly apparent. If the guides are up, you are fighting more than the fish. JMHO Ronnie
  13. Not likely.... the world is slow to change, spirals look so different that i think many companies are scared to go that route until it's proven by a few. ...lol Look for only a couple companies to offer this for a while. It also has that "gimmicky" look to me. I would need alot of convincing before making the change to that style. I didn't play golf untill I was 35 years old. I thought it looked silly and boring, now I have tried it and I love the game. I never fished with a spiral wrapped rod until I built my flippinstick. (you may also test drive my rods at Fork) It looks funny, but it works like you won't believe. I have another spiral wrapped rod (short med. hvy. pitchin stick) on the dryer right now and will be building a spiral wrapped swimbait rod next month. You have to fish with one for a while to know that rods should have the guides on the bottom. I am fortunate to be able to build my own rods and I will always put the guides where they belong, on the bottom. JMHO Ronnie
  14. I hang my flyrods on the wall horizontally and my bass rods live on a home made vertical rack. If there is no undue stress on your rods they should be fine. JMHO Ronnie

Brushpile, FYI - Uncle Josh # 11 frog and the black widow eel are both pork trailers and are mentioned above. Tight lines. Ronnie
  16. What a fish! 7.32 lbs (3.32KG) I have always wanted to visit Italy. Congratulations on the awesome record fish. I had originally converted meters to feet :-[ instead of kilos to lbs, but Vyron straightened me out below... Thanks Vyron. Ronnie
  17. Nice one NJfishinGUY! OK, let's don't be holdin out on us NJ home boys here. You can drop a PM about where this honey hole is and no one will ever know where I heard about it. Good fish and thanks for the pics. Ronnie
  18. I have tried a couple of times to fish a jig, drop shot and carolina rig in deeper water 25-35', but I don't have a clue what I'm doing at that depth. I will stick to 15' or less most of the time. I like fishing in cover that I can see. Ronnie

  21. Shimano-king, Take a look at this post, it may be helpfull to you. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 Ronnie
  22. Don't worry FC, most of us know you are a class act. You don't have anything to prove to this group. Most of us are bass green with *** sometimes, but we appreciate your contribution to the board. I think everyone gets a kick out of the pics of them West coast beauties you post. JMHO Ronnie
  23. I grew up in south Louisiana. When I was a kid it was still the "Sportsman's Paradise". In the Gulf of Mexico, you could catch fish like nowhere else. Red snapper, king mackeral, grouper, drum, tarpon, sharks you name it. Because the Miss. river mixed with the Gulf, you could fish the brackish bays and pipe line canals in Plaquimines Parish with a 'shad rig' & popping cork to catch speckled trout & red fish untill you were tired of catching fish. Fresh water, on the other hand, was more of a challenge. It required a different attitude and a higher level of determination. As posted above, I think the charm & passion of Bass fishing is, that you MIGHT catch them almost anywhere. With a broomstick & kite string, or G-Loomis rod & Shimano reel, you have a chance at landing an elusive memory. Keep on keepin on. Ronnie
