Looks like I can finally get back up there in a couple of weeks. Its been a long couple of months and I am sure looking forward to the fall.

We are in the middle of it but high and dry. My son's house came close to flooding but he is fine too. I never in my wildest dreams thought some of these areas would flood. There were some pretty good elevations that flooded, these were not low areas next to rivers etc. I have to think all the development, highways etc caused the water to go to areas that never had any issues. More issues brought on by the good folks that brought you affordable health care and flood protection. I am not believing what I am seeing.

A tutorial on Buck Creek would be interesting. I've fished it in the spring and a couple of times in the summer/fall. There are a couple of nice flats off of points that I've done ok with. Usually the water is too clear for me so I am interested in this.

Wish I could help but I don't use a rod with spoons. Once a year I buy a dozen or so and throw them overboard on the next trip. Saves me a lot of time getting them unhooked and breaking off.

Well BF,,that sucks. Hope you get fixed up soon. I'll probably make it up there this weekend. Looks like my summer pattern will set in for me. Fish til 11, shower, nap, and back at it at 4 or 5 til dark. Might even start fishing at night. The heat is on. Might even join ya'll under the bridge with minnows.

Deep fishing is tough on me too coming from 40+ years in the Atchafalaya Basin. I found its not about "figuring out" anything. Most can look on maps or map cards and see where they should be. A week ago I got on a deeper bite after a couple of weekends of swinging and missing. I caught a bunch, 75 or so in one small area. I would say maybe 10 X 20 yards. I just got on my best guess spot and fished it hard. Took almost an hour to locate them on this spot. It is easy to fish for an hour or more throwing at stumps, trees etc on the bank but it is hard for me to buckle down and fish what I can't see for that long. But for me, thats the only way I can locate anything deep, unless the depth finder is really lighting up. Hopefully the weather cooperates this weekend so I can get back up there.

Looks like lots of folks were out of power for a while this weekend. Hope there wasn't too much damage. I was out for about 15 minutes. I find the fishing getting better, more predictable. Caught a lot of fish Sunday morning. Nothing big but a real good time. Hopefully it continues and the bad weather stops. It is getting pretty hot already.

Catt, Hope ya'll not getting beat up too bad over there. Saw I-49 above Lafayette was closed Sunday.

Launch in any bayou or river around you and point your boat into the current, you will eventually get there.

Speaking of pan fish, anyone know of any bream beds/areas around six mile they wouldn't mind sharing. I'd like to take the grandkids out and catch some. What depth do they usually bed and best ways to catch them.

Well, I don't think I could shock a fish up right now. I'm catching a few shallow and every now and then I must hit one in the head deep and he bites it out of anger. I'm seeing a lot of fish deep but can't get them to fire.

I had direct tv but we had to move last year. The place I live now does not allow a dish on the house. Was wondering if anyone tried a long range antenna. If I could get 1 channel I would be happy.

Sorry, off topic. What do yall do for tv reception in the Hemphill/six mile area. Is there a local tv channel you can get with an antenna. Hate to pay 100 bucks a month for the camp. I don't watch much and can do and have been doing without but the wife likes tv.

Well, this spring has been nothing short of a disaster for me. After several trips up to windy, cold front Bend I may have to skip a weekend, Caught 7 fish Saturday, packed up the truck and came home. I just can't seem to get on anything this year. Looking forward to May-June and hopefully better times.

LOL, If I checked the wind every time before I go I would probably never make it up there. I have come to accept that to fish there you gotta deal with mother nature and take what she gives you. I can usually manage the wind but it may not be where I want to fish.

Leaving Wednesday after work, or as soon as I can sneak off.

I'll be on my way there in an hour or so. Staying the weekend but gotta come back for work next week, then back up either Wednesday or Thursday night. Looking forward to it. I agree, wood, hard stuff and bushes shallow, real shallow. Plan B would be the inside and outside hay grass edge if you can find it. For me, I can't find anything in deep dirty water so for me that is out.

May have to go from Leesville to Burkeville to catch 87. Hmmmm.........Just checked, some of that is closed too. May have to go through Many and come back down. that looks clear.

That waterflow is off the charts. I'm going up to check on things and maybe get some odds and ends done.

Well, no such thing as a bad report Ronnie. Unfortunately its gonna be another week or so before I can get back up there so keep the reports coming to tide me over.
