I was in the same boat about selecting a spinning reel and opted for a $100+ Shimano. If I had it to do over, I'd give the Pflueger President a try. Not that my Shimano's aren't great, just that I'm not sure they are worth all the extra money.

I use a backpack for tournament purposes and can fit an abundant amount of tackle in it. However, when packed lightly for bank fishing specifically I think it would be more convenient than a typical bag.

I'd add ned rig supplies as well so you'd could at least get some numbers.

Why not a fast instead of moderate fast and just loosen your drag a little for when you are using treble hook baits ( ie 1.5s) and then you still have the backbone for the jigs and rigs when needed.

Unless the water is super clear, I wouldn't worry about a leader for any of them. Even then, some wouldn't warrant leader like the frog, spinnnerbait, chatterbait, and buzzbait for example. Even a jig or TX rig I'd be hesitant to use a leader.

Am I the only one who had to google cormorants?

Just got my first within the last two months. I can confirm I'm not going back. I use SK, Eco Pro, and Academy house brand, but have some Vikes coming from TW. I figured for the price they were worth a shot.

Glad this question was asked because I've about given up on my 90 due to the same reason. Looks like I'll have to give the 130 a try.

Dobyns Fury 702 Stradic FJ 2500 10lb pp braid/6lb fluoro leader

I was using my old LLBean backpack from college until it finally fell apart(need to send it back for a replacement), but picked up the TW backpack when it was onsale for like $50 or so earlier this year. I can get about three 3700s in it and more plastics than I use in a single outing. Side pockets are good for scents, pliers, etc. I've used it in two BFLs so far and it has served me nicely.

I have a couple. One in the loon(black) color and the other in bone color. Both are the 90 size. Used the black one last night. It was the first time using either and I only caught one, but I still think it's a little early here for the top water bite to be completely on. I'd read they cause line twist and they weren't joking. I won't throw one again without a swivel. I didn't have the problem of the rear treble getting tangled with the tail as I had also read about happening. I think Chris Lane was burning them up with one last weekend at Toledo Bend. I'm anxious for warmer weather to get here so I can get a better impression of how they produce because I've heard nothing but good things.

I didn't see them on their site or at my stores locally. I couldn't even find a pic online, but I was visiting my daughter who lives in near Cincinnati and found them at a store there. I see your in KY too. If you are in Florence, check the DSG there. They may have restocked as I had my daughter get me the last two they had after I lost the one I had.

It's a Dicks exclusive (according to SK). I lost one and tried to find another. I contacted them to see about getting some more of them and SK said they could only be gotten at DSG.
