I have a new Garmin 93sv with GT54 transducer and the side imaging seems inferior to my 1 year old Helix 7. Would upgrading the Garmin to a GT56 transducer bring it on par with the Helix or is Humminbird just that much better in terms of side imaging?

I got 3 seasons out of my last pair of Fish Monkey gloves, before that I had Simms that lasted 3 months.

I have a Dobyns 685c and it's my primary jerk bait rod - but also great for walking the dog with a Shower Blows 105 and most any square bill.

I've had Livescope on the shaft of my trolling motor on my bass boat up North for 3 years. I just put Livescope on my kayak in Florida - on a separate pole (Fishing Specialities). I think there is a better than 50-50 chance I put a pole on my bass boat when I get back home. The only downside is that the mounting plate hangs over the side of the boat so it could get knocked off if you're not careful going up to a dock. Other than that, the pole is the way to go because you can aim it any direction without moving the trolling motor or needing to take off of spot-lock.

In general, on spinning gear I’m a big fan of Yo-Zuri Hybrid. However, sometimes you need the sink rate of fluorocarbon (finesse, bottom contact, etc.). Then I use braid but an extra long leader of FC maybe 10-15 feet long. You get less of the line twist effect with a braided mainline but 12 feet of fluorocarbon still provides some sink rate which is an advantage for certain applications.

This is it. After tying the FG for 5 years I went back to this improved Alberto (3 times through final loop) and it is easier to tie than the FG, strong as or stronger than any knot out there and virtually impossible to screw up. This means a lot when you are out in a boat, wind, waves, etc… in a tournament, short on time and HAVE to get it right… never going back to the FG!

Yup, I got the same thing... all the men on my side of the family have died or had bypass surgery between age 35-59. I guess I was next, but fortunately just a stent... My LP(a) is 251 and have been told the normal range is approx 50. Not sure Repatha gets me there, we'll see ~

Glad it’s working for her… I get to take my first injection Feb 1 so not looking forward to the burn but maybe small price to pay. Curious what her LP(a) was prior to taking Repatha and what it is now?

Yes, when they give you the nuclear stress test - sit you down afterwards and say you got an issue, and we’re 50-50 whether we can stent this or have to crack the sternum and do bypass - it gets your attention in a hurry. You went thru it and got the system overhaul and are hopefully good with another 50 year warranty!

Have always said, would be great to have my aluminum Lund bass boat - that converts to a jet boat to take up into the skinny waters of the Mississippi in north/central Minnesota. Guys that fish that area know that traditional boats can’t get there and the fishing is unpressured and nothing short of spectacular. But you need something more than a jet boat when you go an hour South and fish Mille Lacs or most any other lake in the area.

Drove from MN to FLA Dec 29-31st. First week of Jan ended up with a clogged widowmaker and a stent. I feel great, but it delayed my kayak project. First phase was to get the kayak out of a marina that got hit by Hurricane Ian. Those Autopilot hulls are a beast - no damage. However, had to replace a compartment hatch, battery box, drain plug, rod holders and lost 4 rods. All cleaned up, replaced the parts - ready to go… then the ambulance ride. Phase 2 was a better tackle management system. I added a 16x16 inch BlackPak Pro with 6 rod holders. Inside holds 8 tackle trays and a big Plano Edge plastics box. What an upgrade, I had stuff sliding all over the tankwell last year. Phase 3 was putting on a Garmin 93sv and Livescope Plus, attached with a Fishing Specialties bowducer. It works really well, we stay on a 500 acre inland freshwater lake - and this time of year bass are moving - from the deeps into the shallows to get ready to spawn. Hard to believe that early, but they are and LS picks up on the movement patterns. Missed the first tournament due to the hospital stay, but second one is on Feb 4 and I’ll be ready this time.

What size Flippin weight would you use: 7-12 fow Moderate weed growth - don’t need to punch a heavy mat but need to get through some stems Moderate stain, light “root beer” color 65 degree water temp And what would be your preferred brand/color plastic?

I was not a fan of the Alphas SV for BFS, poor distance. I now have a Daiwa Air TW and Courage BFS and they are both excellent.

This is where I'm at, I have both Humminbird and Garmin in my boat. But until either Garmin introduces a 360 imaging product, or Humminbird's gets a Mega Live version on par with Livescope+ I remain a split household even though I'd like to simplify into one brand.
