Our bass goes out of season on the opening day of trout season (second Saturday of April), and then doesn't come back in until the third Saturday of June. The fish commission says it's so the bass can spawn successfully, but it's really because all they care about is trout season and forcing guys to buy a $5 trout stamp on top of their standard license.

Chronarch MGL help
Rinse the spool really well after you're done fishing. That spool is not designed for brackish/salt water. If possible, I would use a different reel.

Setup recommendation for co-angler
Is this for Conneaut? Let me know and I can make some suggestions.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Went out on Saturday morning for the first day of bass season here in PA. My partner started out hot in the morning throwing a 7" MS Slammer. He caught a 3-4 and a 4-9 in the first 15 minutes. I caught all my fish on a frog and flipping.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Bass season opened up on Saturday here in PA. I was flipping a 7" worm up under overhanging trees into the shade.

Chronarch G and new Sustain...
From what I've read, the Chronarch G is just the MGL but with a saltwater safe spool.

Who makes a good (flutter) spoon?
I really like the Molix Lover spoon. It's got a dual hook design that really helps with hookup's and doesn't foul up on the line.

Glide bait retrieves
I've found that certain glide baits react to jerking and fast retrievals differently (some good, some bad) than others. So experiment with the baits you have and see if it works for the bait you're using. As with any type of fishing lure, try various retrieves and techniques and find out whats working best for you on that particular day.

will 10 lb braid get stuck in line roller
I just bought that same reel for my father a little while back. It's an awesome reel for the money. Highly recommend it. He is running 20lb. PowerPro braid on his without any issues.

Hook brand/style selection help
I am not overly brand loyal whenever it comes to hooks. I buy the best quality that I can get for the best price/availability at the time I need them. Owner is a company I've started using in the past 2-3 years that I've been very impressed by. All of their hooks are top notch quality. Their treble hooks are the best I have found. However, I also use Gamakatsu, VMC, Mustad, Eagle Claw, Trokar, and Daichi. Gamakatsu and Trokar are both top quality right up there with Owner. VMC, Mustad, and Eagle Claw are more middle of the road, and their pricing reflects that. Generally, my tournament equipment gets Owner/Gama/Trokar and my pond fishing equipment gets the mid range stuff on it.

How Long Do You Typically Fish Your Fluoro?
And this is the exact reason I change mine every 2-3 months...

I am almost on board..........almost
I'm a like minded fisherman as you. Things like jigs, texas rigs, drop shots, shakeyheads, etc. leave me with little confidence and very seldomly produce for me. However, a wacky rigged Senko like you mention is my confidence lure whenever I can't get a bite on anything else.

Too Heavy Of A Line For Neko Rig?
I'm sure it will work in a pinch... Surely someone in your club has some line they could lend you at the ramp in the morning. I know I keep a spool of 14lb. mono and 40lb. braid in my bag just in case something goes wrong out on the water during a tournament.

How Long Do You Typically Fish Your Fluoro?
I must be in the minority. I change mine out about every 2-3 months.

Post a photo a day!
10 years ago for me. I was in college at this time. BassResource is going to start it's own band.

My new Daiwa Steez A broke after the second use, what to do?
If it lets you down again, go with the new Metanium. You'll be happy with a Shimano in your hands.

Rod action for squarebills
I use both, honestly. If I'm around weeds, I like the fast action for ripping the hooks free from vegetation. Just something to keep in mind.

Fantasy Fishing
I'm glad to see Steve win. I was watching whenever he hooked that 5-10 at the end of the day. If you listen to the replay, listen to him scream in excitement like a little girl whenever he hooked the fish and saw the size of it. You can't help but feel happy for the guy. In other news, I'm up to the 89.7% now. I was at 85.0% before this event. Menendez finishing 4th and Clunn in 18th really helped me because they were a low percentage pick, even with Christie finishing 72nd and Martens in 57th.

Wacky Rods
Obviously spinning gear is the popular choice, however I am more of a casting fan rather than a spinning fan, so I'll throw my wacky rigs on casting gear. I throw mine on a St. Croix LTB71MF rod with 12-14lb. fluoro. If you are a Loomis guy, you can go with the similar rated rod. I have an IMX 803 that would work well for the application. Perhaps the MBR 843 would be a good choice too.

Fantasy Fishing
I've moved from the 85.0% to the 89.3% already. If Menendez could jump up and finish ahead of Ike this event, that would probably put me up over 90%.

Fantasy Fishing
I'm doing ok this event. Christie surprised me with a dud performance. Going into today, here's where my guys ranked. A. Christie - 72 B. Swindle - 31 C. Martens - 57 D. Menendez - 9 E. Clunn - 18 Buckets D and E coming on strong this event.

Which model rod do i need for cranking?
Medium for a DT6, MH for the DT10 and DT14. It's not about what the rods rated for, it's more about the rod being able to handle the drag from a large billed lured like a DT14. Honestly, the DT14 is on the borderline for needing a heavy power. If you only have the budget for one cranking rod, get a MH cranking rod. It will still handle the DT6 and it will be good enough for light use of the DT14.

Sun gear
It's an investment, but what's a few hundred dollars to prevent skin cancer with a few shirts, gloves, and buffs? Wear them religiously. The long sleeve stuff (Huk, UA, Columbia, etc) is not hot in the sun. Some of them even are designed to cool you the more you sweat.
