Oversized Squarebills
What line are you guys using for these? I've got a 765CB, a Veracity 7'11" heavy winch, an Avid 7' heavy moderate, and a 795swb, so I'm not concerned about the weight and my rod.

Fall Fishing Lures
I consider it fall fishing once the water drops below 70*. Here in western PA, our water is still in the low 80's, so it will be a few weeks until that happens. What baits I use can really depend on the lake and where the fish are. I think fall is a totally different animal from spring time. In the fall, the fish can be deep, they can be shallow, or they can be suspended out in the middle of no where. This makes locating them tough. Obviously, topwater is always fun to throw, and it can be effective all day long in the fall, especially on overcast days. Spinnerbaits, rattle traps, and silver buddy blade baits are also great search baits, especially if the fish are scattered or suspended. I also enjoy throwing Shad Raps and jerkbaits once the water starts getting colder as well.

Oversized Squarebills
Recently, oversized squarebills have gotten my attention and I'm looking to try them out. Most notably, an article in the recent Bassmaster magazine featuring Mark Menendez. Lures like the KVD 8.0, and the Lucky Craft Magnum 105 and 110's. I'm curious as to who is using these baits, where are you using them, and what are your opinions on these specific baits?

Baitcasting rod suggestion
In your price range, I really like the Abu Ike series rods. 7' with a fast action. Choose your power depending on what size weight you plan on using.

Medium diving crankbait rod
I would not throw a 12' diving crankbait on a medium power rod. You would definitely need a MH for something like that. Here's what I use/recommend. Squarebills/DT4/DT6/Shad Raps/Wiggle Warts - Medium power (I personally use a Champion 684CB and a Crucrial 7' Med-Mod). DT10/5XD/Rock Crawler/CB12/FF Shad - Med. Hvy power (Champion 705CB/765CB)

So a bass took my Plopper yesterday...
Like Francho, I prefer braid for topwater as well. I have trouble with hooksets on those long casts whenever I use mono. If I do use mono, I'm using 15 or 17lb test. With mono or fluoro, it's good practice to inspect your line after every fish (or bite, especially if you're in toothy critter water), or if your line is come into contact with structure (rocks, wood, etc). When in doubt, it never hurts to retie. There's a common saying in tournament fishing "Retie or cry".

Best braid?
I'm calling a tie between 832 and P-line X. I just started using FX2 this summer for my topwater/frog needs and I've been really impressed. All three of these lines are great.

St. Croix Avid x
In the $200 range, I own the Avid, Avid X, Zodias, and E6X. If I had to rate them, I'd rank them 1. Avid's 2. Zodias 3. E6X

Best reel on the market. Period.

Hollow body frog brands
I just started using the Iobee frogs this summer and they have quickly become my go to frog. I couldn't be happier with the Jackall Iobee. I've also been trying out the new Terminator walking frogs. They seem to be great as well.

Best "found" lure?
I don't bank fish much, but one day I did walk up to a spot and found where some guy must have spilled an entire bag of Senkos onto the ground. I happily gave them a new home.

Favorite bladed jig colors for pre spawn?
I basically use 3 colors: White Bluegill Green Pumpkin Shad (Zman)

Carbon fiber reel handle
I'm not sure if you've shopped around yet, but if you haven't, be aware that you'll most likely be spending more on a carbon fiber handle than what that reel is worth. If you're willing to accept that, check out Hedgehog Studios in Japan, or Hawgtech. Hawgtech used to be a sponser here on these forums.

Can't quit catching catfish!
Switch to dough balls. Bass love them...

What to use in a Pond with green film over it
It's most likely an algae bloom and the dissolved oxygen levels in the water are out of whack. It happens a lot this time of year. It can make catch fish darn near impossible. Your best bet is to go small and finesse.

Limited edition
If you need it now, buy it now. I would assume it will go down in price.

Strangest thing you've caught while fishing? Here's mine...
Pie pan. Complete spinning rod setup. 1/8oz. rooster tail in 20' of water...

Going to lake Erie and need guidance please!

Any Abu Garcia fans out there?
If you like Abu, use Abu. There are plenty of Abu fans out there. With how rough it sounds you are on your gear, you might not want to start buying $200+ rods. But to each his own.

What's your fishing glasses preference?
I wear Costa Cat Cay's with the 580G lens. The color and clarity in these blows a low end, plastic lens away. With your budget, I'd check out the Strike King S11's. That's what I wore prior to my Costa's, and they were the best I could find in the ~$50 range.
