  1. It's the Seaguar knot. I personally use this and the Alberto knot.
  2. Curado or Tatula, neither will treat you wrong. I've owned both and I have since sold my Tatula. I just prefer the Curado over it.
  3. Spend a few dollars extra and get the Ike series 6'4". It's a must have better jerkbait rod than any of the other rods you listed and it's only $20 more.
  4. I don't get this about people. I consider myself a Shimano guy. I own probably 2 dozen Shimano reels (casting and spinning). I have no issues with any of my reels. Do I like my E series more than the I series Curado/Chronarch? Yes, but the I series is still an excellent reel. At the same time, I own/have owned "high end" reels from competitor's. Zillions, Tatula's, Revo MGX, etc. All of which were fine reels. My old Zillions are probably the best work horse cranking reels I've ever seen. The Tatula is a great reel for the price, but I prefer the Curado and Chronarch over it. The MGX is probably the smoothest reel I've ever owned, however I have since sold it and replaced it with another Shimano. I've used an STX, and while it's a decent reel, I feel that anything Shimano in that price range is superior. I have never owned any Lews reels. But I know they're made in the same place as Abu Revos, and I know that I've never liked the feel of any of their reels whenever I have held one. Because of that, I stay away from them. At the end of the day, any high end reel is going treat you right with the proper maintenance. Use what you like/can afford. Eventually, from trial and error, you'll likely find a brand that you prefer. Me personally, I prefer Shimano because I have never been let down by any of their products, from the Curado to the Aldebaran. However, if someone prefers another product, more power to them. At the end of the day, I know that my 15+ year old Curado B still works weekend after weekend, so I will stand with Shimano. Will my Metanium's still work in 15 years? Who knows??? But if they last 10 years, I'd say I got my money's worth.
  5. Chronarch E if you can still find one.
  6. I agree on the medium power. I run an Avid 7' M-F and it's a perfect Keitech rod for weightless up to 1/4 oz.
  7. You've clearly not used a Metanium or Aldebaran...
  8. I see Dwight on here liking posts, but keeping his mouth shut. He must know some secrets!!!
  9. I have no problem using Cavitrons on my Chronarch E5.
  10. Stick with Sniper and you'll never be let down.
  11. I do. Helps prevent sun and wind burn.
  12. Abu Veracity 7' MH-F Shimano chronarch 201E5 40lb. Suffix 832 (and a FC leader when needed)
  13. Keitech swing impact fat and Lake Fork live magic shad.
  14. You're using a single hook, you're not going to hookup with every bite. Even still, if you're using a trailer, it's possible that the fish only had the trailer in its mouth and not the whole jig.
  15. Great colors Great action Great sizes Great scent Great packaging to keep baits safe And fish eat them up.
  16. Now you understand why you see the BPS logo on NASCAR cars and not TW...
  17. This isn't by any means scientific, but it is an old saying that I've heard numerous times and it seems to hold true. Live bait is for feeding the fish, artificial bait is for catching fish. Basically what it means is fish will prefer live bait because it's natural and there's no tricks about it. If you're throwing an artificial lure, you're tricking the fish into bite something that may or may not be natural to them, hence you're "catching" them.
  18. I'd rather have an Avid, Zodias, or Ike series, for that price. And I do own an E6X.
  19. Green pumpkin/bluegill is my best producer year round. I also do well with white in the spring.
  20. I highly recommend the Abu Ike series 7'2" MH power series
  21. Bizzbaits Dizzy Diamond and Netbait finesse.
  22. Both are quality baits that aren't too expensive. I'd recommend getting both in colors that you like to use and trying them out. If you find you prefer one over the other, then stock up on them.
  23. They do??? On a serious note, spend what you're comfortable spending on what works best for you. I use everything from $5 mono to $45 fluorocarbon on rods that cost 10x what you're using.
  24. That's exactly what it is. Put it on the back of your reel seat (foot) to prevent wear on it from your rod.
