  1. I use a St. Croix Avid 7' Med. F. I don't like a moderate action for anything that uses a single hook.
  2. I'm curious to see what everyone's favorite jig trailers are. I'm talking a standard jig (flipping/football), not a swim/bladed jig.
  3. The sound gets activated whenever both hook hangers get wet. This "short" is what causes the sound to turn on and off. That way you don't kill the battery by having it sit in your tackle box. With that, I bought 2 or 3 of them last spring because of Randy. They fish fine, but I never caught anything on them. I just stick with my DT's instead.
  4. Mann's baby 1- is a killer in shallow water
  5. Like captain said, water temperature effects the buoyancy of all objects in water. But yes, they can suspend depending on the water temperature. They're lighter, so the wobble is different to them.
  6. I've gotten candy too from JLS. Not sure what that's about, but it's a nice gesture.
  7. I have that exact same HMG 7'2" medium moderate and it is certainly not a deep cranking rod. It's more for squarebills, lipless cranks, and DT4/6's at the most. Get a MH moderate for deeper cranks.
  8. Personally, I'd take the Ike delay series over the Veritas. Much better blank in my opinion, and only $30 more. What are you looking to throw?
  9. Did you read up on it? It caught my eye at first as well, and then I saw it was a saltwater reel.
  10. Great review. I picked up the 2500 in this reel at the end of the season. I can't wait to test it out come spring time.
  11. I use Gamakatsu and Owner Stinger 36's for my cranks. You can get Gamakatsu in packs of 25. Split rings I usually only replace if they're bent or rusting. I generally use Mustad KVD stainless one's, or if it's a cheaper lure, I use the cheaper Eagle Claw one's. As for the braid thing, my Dad will reverse his line once it starts fraying and loses its color. It works for him. I personally just replace it once it gets low or starts looking shotty.
  12. I keep 2-3 of each with me on the boat. The rest stay at home. The extras that have been used go into a Plano box, the new one's go into a storage bin with other new baits. And I keep all of my boxes and bins organized by style of bait.
  13. The new Zman with the improved blade and clips are the best I've found. Check out the Project Z and the customz.
  14. Chatterbaits for me as well. Thank God I finally picked them up. They've produced so well for me.
  15. Check out the Bagley BB2
  16. My local DSG has a big sign at the entrance that says "Clearance Sale - Ends in .97 Additional 50% Off" However, everything ending in .97 is only an additional 25% off.... Sigh.
  17. A custom painted DT10 - Largemouth 5.1 pounds
  18. I've ordered from them 5-6 times and have never had an issue. My order is usually here in about 3 business days.
  19. What's the details on that Stille? It's got the most of my attention. PS. I don't think I can resist that Scorpion 71.
  20. Like many others have mentioned, I have caught rods before. However my oddest catch this year was out in the middle of a large lake, fishing an old road bed in about 18-20' of water. I was using a deep diving crankbait and bringing it up over the old road bed and then back down the other side. I ended up catching an 1/8th oz. Rooster tail. I hooked it right in the line tie loop. It certainly wasn't the first lure I've caught, but to catch an 1/8th oz spinner so perfectly in 18+ feet of water was certainly a big surprise.
  21. Good hooks, good paint, good action, good durability. What more do you need in a bait?
  22. I have an Avid X that slips sometimes when it's underload from fighting a fish. I talked with St. Croix and they said they would replace it, all I need to do is send it in. I'll probably do that some time this winter.
  23. I generally fish the Fat version by itself, and the standard version on chatterbaits and swim jigs.
