  1. I see them go for $60-100 all day on different groups and forums. If you're paying $125 for a B series, you're getting hosed.
  2. The Extreme's aren't bad rods for the money. A little heavy, but I've never had issues with them. The Okuma TCS is also a very nice rod and it carries a lifetime warranty. That might be something you want to keep in mind.
  3. Another vote for the Fury 795. Definitely worth checking out.
  4. I own two of the new Crucial rods (a 6'10" MH-F and a 7' M-M). Both are good rods, but I feel that there are better rods in the price, especially since Shimano changed up their warranty program. I suggest a St. Croix Avid, or an Abu Garcia Ike or Veracity series, for your price range.
  5. Took my new 7'2 MH Power series Ike out yesterday and tried it on a local pond that just got the ice off. Didn't catch anything, but I will say I was very impressed with it. I'd like to put in a few more hours with it, then I'll make another review on it for you all.
  6. I have this rod and yes, it is EVA all the way on the butt.
  7. Went out and bought 3 Shadow Rap Shads today. They look nice. Hopefully they catch fish.
  8. He's another one I can't stand. Probably because he's so young. However, he does try to teach the best that he can and I appreciate what he does. He's one that seems to cater to the pre-teen aged fishermen.
  9. I can't stand Mike aka. 1rod1reel. He's not very informative or knowledgeable at all. He's always over exaggerating everything and it gets on my nerves quickly. Add in his lisp and it makes his voice intolerable.
  10. I love my old Zillions crazy crackers. Hard to beat that gear ratio.
  11. Tell the guy's in your local club at your next meeting. I'm sure someone will be looking for a good deal.
  12. My favorite is the perch color (v60). It does very well for me up here in the north country. Unfortunately it hasn't been made in 15+ years.
  13. Don't always trust the TW reviews. A lot of manufacturers make their sponsored anglers post positive reviews on there to help sell the product.
  14. Both are excellent lines and I use both. The sniper is slightly smaller diameter compared to the Pline 100%. You'll be very happy with either line over your Stren.
  15. So I'm looking for a heavy power rod that would be good for jigs, as well as larger chatterbaits (3/4 - 1oz plus a trailer). The 7'2" H Zodias is the main rod I'm considering at this time. Does anyone out there have this rod and can tell me what the action is like on these things? I know that the Zodias is advertised as a "do everything" type action, but I'd prefer a personal opinion rather than a generic description. Thanks.
  16. One is made in the USA, hence a slightly higher price.
  17. I know the new Berkley Digger cranks have came up a few times on here, and there isn't much information on them out there, so I decided to order a couple in and check them out for myself. These were designed by David Fritts, which is the same guy who designed the DT series for Rapala, which these seem pretty similar to shape wise. So I made this little video to show a side by side comparison of the two baits and give an overview of the new Digger. Check this out if you've been wondering about these baits. PS. These new Fusion 19 hooks are very nice. Super sticky, and they seem to be a little heavier gauge than than the VMC's that come on the DT's.
  18. I suggest watching this before buying the J braid.
  19. I won't even go into tackle, but as far as reels and rods this winter... New Reels: Metanium 101 standard Stradic 3000 FK Stradic 2500 FJ Used Reels: Curado 51E (tricked out) Curado 200E5 Curado 301D Chronarch 51MG New Rods: Dobyns Fury 795SWB Abu Ike Series 7'2" MH-F Add in a Revo MGX that I bought and flipped as well... Now that I look at it, my reel to rod ratio is way off. I should probably fix that
  20. Pike usually aren't found in deeper water, so if you can find some fish in 10+ feet of water, you'll have less of a chance of catching them.
  21. Is the $30 make or break for you? I'd buy it and keep your old whitey. Both are great reels.
  22. I stocked up on some new wiggle wart colors with the Presidents Day prices.
  23. I've never had good experience with Red Label. The fact you bought it at Wal Mart might not help either. I like to know my line is fresh, and hasn't been sitting on the shelf for years.
  24. I like to upgrade my Shimano's to the 96mm Metanium handle. They're around $38 and much cheaper than some of the aftermarket carbon fiber handles. However, Hawgtech does make some very nice handles. I believe theirs are around $60 for just the handle. Some of the smaller Shimano reels come with 80-84mm handles. I prefer the feel of a little bit longer handle, because I feel like I have more leverage on the fish and it's easier on my wrist.
