  1. Swim jigs and spinnerbaits can work for these as well. Just let them sink down a bit before you begin your retrieve.
  2. That 5/16oz Sniper jig is my go to jig 75% of the time I use a jig.
  3. No affiliation with anyone... But just because certain baits "work well" in certain environments, doesn't mean they're going to perfectly come through any of it. It's common sense to a point how well a certain bait can do in certain situations. This is a prime example. Does a bladed jig (regardless of brand) work well around grass? Yes, it does. Does it have a large blade on the front and an exposed hook that can hang up in grass? Yes, it does. Does a swim jig work well around grass? Yes, it does. Does a swim jig have a large blade on the front and an exposed hook that can hang up in grass? No, it does not. It's very streamlined and more optimally designed to come through grass. In my experience, a bladed jig works well for submerged grass where the grass is 1-2' below the surface. Where as a swimjig can come through grass that is nearly fully emergent. Using the same philosophy - Does a squarebill work well around wood? Yes, it does. Does a squarebill still get hung up in wood? Yes, it does. It has treble hooks, so it naturally will hang up from time to time. Does a texas rig work well around wood? Yes, it does. Does a texas rig get hung up in wood? No, it basically never does because the hook in buried inside the plastic so only your line can get wrapped around the wood.
  4. Someone ban this man from the forum
  5. One Google search gave me the following: Renegade Bass Tournaments Louisville Building Trade Fishing Club Anglers Outpost: NTBA Division Iroquois Bass Club Bluegrass Kayak Bass Fishing Oldham Country Bass Club Louisville Metro Bass Club Stump Jumpers Fishing Series Northern Kentucky Bass Hasslers Need me to keep going?
  6. I just Google'd your location. You're near Louisville and have large lakes/rivers all around you. I'm willing to bet there's clubs everywhere around you... You're just clueless to them. I would recommend you do some Google research or look around maybe on *** for local clubs. As far as starting a club, there's a ton of legwork just to get one going. You need an insurance policy on the club, a high end scale, bank account, permits with your local parks/marinas that you plan to host events at, a set of rules/guidelines, and much, much more. Edit - Looks like I can't mention another popular message board on here.
  7. This is my stance as well. These guys (MLF and BASS) are competing against each other 10x a year (or more). You show the leaders respect because next event, it could be you at the top fishing for a life changing check. Whenever you don't show respect to your fellow community, you get a reputation like the Johnston brothers have. Now if we're talking about local, one day derbies where we might be winning $100, this is a different scenario. Whoever gets to a spot first gets that spot. If you want to come in behind a guy, ask him if he's okay with you following behind him on a spot, but never would I leap frog a guy working a stretch of bank or something.
  8. Here's my logic. Take any object and hold it above your head. Now look up at it with the sun above you. Guess what, it looks black. Bass can't wear sunglasses when they look up above them. It's the same premise.
  9. I only throw 2 colors for any topwater bait. Black... and white. Black sees probably 80% of my use.
  10. Well I live in PA where it's a miracle if we can ever see more then 2' in the water...
  11. 2025 Season Recap Champion - Beagledogxxx Runner Up - kglass2772 And just like that, our 2025 season is a wrap. I'd like to thank all the people who played along this season and made this season super fun for all of us. I always look forward to talking with everyone before and after the events and seeing how everyone did. Having a large group of people playing along is what makes this group so fun. Huge shout out to Beagledogxxx and Kglass2772 for taking the top spots in the group. @lmoore (our reigning champ from 2023 &24) has finally been dethroned. Beagledog took down the win by having the 139th best overall score in all of the 25k+ Fantasy players worldwide. Very impressive! We had 13 guys this year break the 10k point marker. We had a total of 46 people play along this year. Of that, we had 35 people who played every event, and 37 played 9/10 events. I'm so happy that we have such a dedicated group of players and I appreciate all of you putting in the time to making picks for each event and playing along. They usually open up the new season around January, so keep your eyes peeled for my thread for the 2026 season around then. Hopefully everyone returns and then some. 12. Well it only took all year, but I finally had the hot event of the group. Shout out Pat Schlapper for pulling it out for me on the final day.
  13. Bump Last day of the season to make picks. Don't miss out now.
  14. Friendly reminder - final event of the year kicks off this week. Get your picks in by Wednesday night.
  15. Trey McKinney gets it done, wire to wire. What an impressive win. In a lake that's just chuck full of 3 to 4 pounders and everyone is getting a limit, some of these guys managed to pull away from the field with some mega bags. We've got 10ish days til the Mississippi River event. This is the final event of the year, so make it a good one. Here's our top 5 going into this last event. 16. And we are underway on St. Clair. Looks like some of these boys are off to a hot start already. Jay P Feider BP Foutz Pipkens
  17. My boy Jay P is off to a hot start with 17 pounds already. Time to lock up that AOY award.
  18. Fulks Custom Cranks bought the remainder of their 1- lineup and has been custom painting them and selling those. From what I know, he's already sold a good bit of the leftover blanks. I think he's looking into getting a reproduction run made with slightly better materials.
  19. This is correct. As you get more into crankbait fishing, you'll notice differences between balsa, cedar, and plastic baits. Each has their advantages and disadvantages.
  20. Try not to worry too much, but I'm right on your tail at 60.5%.
  21. Friendly reminder - get your picks in by Wednesday!
  22. I know they don't like to drag the season on forever, but I would love to see how these guys do on a northern fishery in late September-October time frame.
  23. BASS has released their tournament schedule for the Elites for next season. I found it interesting to see no visits to Florida, Texas, or Louisiana. What are your thoughts? https://www.bassmaster.com/elite/news/b-a-s-s-announces-2026-progressive-bassmaster-elite-series-schedule-featuring-legendary-fisheries-and-historic-returns/
