Fishing shoes
Columbia PFG Bahama Vent fishing shoes. Lightweight and designed to drain water and dry out quickly. So if I have to get wet while launching early in the morning, I'm not wet all day.

New Daiwa IDK what!?
I love my older Zillion Crazy Crankers. If this reel has a better form factor in my hand, I might have to pick one up.

Fish ID
The scales say carp, but that's not a carp mouth. I'm not sure what that is.

How much is import tax on reels shipped from Japan?
This thread is over 8 years old... For what it's worth, I've bought probably around 10 reels from Japan and I've never had to pay any import taxes.

Where should I move to?
I'd vote the Carolina's, Georgia, or the Tennesse/Kentucky region. Lots of quality lakes in those states.

Traveling with a bass boat
Always remove electronics and rods/reels from the boat. Leaving minimal tackle in the boat is a good idea too. Talk to the hotel you're staying at prior to booking. Ask if they have parking for trucks/boats and if they have an area you can plug your boat in so you can charge your batteries.

Major Rust Issues
I always open up all my boxes once I get home and let them dry out overnight. Also, if you leave plastics with salt in them on hooks and store them while still wet, they will rust.

Pond bass in winter
In the winter, sometimes it's more about the temperature of the water rather than the depth of the water. Prime example - Got a creek that runs into the pond that's bringing in water that's warmer than what the pond is? I bet you the fish are congregated in that area. Have an area of the pond that has wood/stumps/docks in it? Items like this hold in heat from the sun, and are usually a degree or two warmer than the rest of the pond/lake and will hold fish.

Hedgehog Studios in Japan is where to go if you're looking to bling your reel out. If you're just looking for different handles and knobs, those are readily available from various sources in the States, some of which you have already found.
